  • The fatigue tests were performed on the high strength concrete beams with single edged notch which was reinforced steel fiber. The steel fibers were used 1.0 percent by volume fraction. These were tested consists of constant amplitude tests for different levels of loading. The test program included endurance limit with repect to flexural fatigue and relation of load-CMOD(crack mouth opening displacement). The results of test, it is found from S-N curve that the fatigue strength for a life of 2 million cycles of load was approximately 70percent with respect to the static ultimate strength .

  • Recently, Tunnel in soil has been designed frequently because Mountain Tunnel has been increased rapidly due to straight of horizontal curve and residents' complaints, tunnel portal has been planned at closed to surface for minimization of environmental damage. To excavate tunnel in soil, where displacement and crushing occur in tunnel face and crown because of unstable ground condition, appropriate reinforcement method needed. On this paper, through design and construction of the soil tunnel, consider application of reinforcement method, economical efficiency and stability.

  • Hybrid type LPM can be widely applied in the precise position controlled devic because precise linear motion can be directly obtained by the simple control circuit without backlash in the rotary-type stepping motor. Also, LPM can increase the Position resolution, which was limited by mechanical manufacturing limit and characteristic of magnetic material. using micro-step drive method to decrease the noise and vibration further. Especially, Double-side LPM may be replaced the solenoid as the valve driving device without difficulty and give full play to control the valve accurately. Hence, In this paper, magnetic circuit of double-side LPM was confirmed and static thrust force curve according to the relative displacement between stator and mover, was analyzed by the two dimensional finite element method. From this results, we can suppose the excitation current to be controlled optimally.

  • The fracture characteristics of unidirectional composite single-lap bonded joints were investigated experimentally and numerically. The effects of bonding method, surface roughness, bondline thickness and the existence of fillet on the failure characteristics and strength of bonded single-lap joints were evaluated experimentally. The failure process, failure mode and the behavior of load-displacement curve was apparently different according to bonding method. The failure load of the specimen co-cured without adhesive was definitely superior to other types of specimens but the specimens co-cured with adhesive film had a less strength than secondary bonded specimens. In the secondary bonded specimens, the lower value of surface roughness and existence of fillet improved the strength of specimens. The strain energy release rates calculated by geometric nonlinear finite element analyses and Virtual Crack Closure Technique for the secondary bonded specimens considering the three types of initial cracks - comer crack, edge crack and delamination crack - were consistent with the test results.

Nonlinear analysis of connectors applied on concrete composite constructions

  • To place concrete overlays has become a standard application in the strengthening and rehabilitation of concrete structures such as bridges, tunnels, parking decks and industrial buildings. In general, connectors are used to ensure a monolithic behavior of the two concrete layers. Within the framework of the development of a new connector wedge splitting tests and shear tests were performed, in addition nonlinear finite element analyses were applied to investigate the load transfer behavior of the connectors for different prototypes. The numerical simulation results were compared to experimental data. The computed load-displacement curve demonstrates good correspondence with the curves obtained in the experiments, and the experimental crack patterns are reasonably simulated by the computed crack propagation. Both numerical and experimental investigations on the wedge splitting test and on the shear test served as basis for the development of new type of connectors.

Investigation on the failure mechanism of steel-concrete steel composite beam

  • The internal crack propagation, the failure mode and ultimate load bearing capacity of the steel-concrete-steel composite beam under the four-point-bend loading is investigated by the numerical simulation. The results of load - displacement curve and failure mode are in good agreement with experiment. In order to study the failure mechanism, the composite beam has been modeled, which part interface interaction between steel and concrete is considered. The results indicate that there are two failure modes: (a) When the strength of the interface is lower than that of the concrete, failure happens at the interface of steel and concrete; (b) When the strength of the interface is higher than that of the concrete, the failure modes is cohesion failure, i.e., and concrete are stripped because of the shear cracks at concrete edge.

  • The rare-earth ions (R3+, R=Nd, Er) doped CaF2 layers have been grown on CaF2(111) substrate by molecular beam epitaxy. The epitaxial relationship and the crystallinity of CaF2:R3+ layers depending on the concentration of R3+ were studied by reflection high-energy electron diffraction (RHEED). In aspect of application as buffer layer in semiconductor-related hybrid structure, the lattice displacement between CaF2:R3+ layers and CaF2(111) substrate was investigated by X-ray rocking curve analysis.

국내외 판내부 지진기록을 이용한 한국 표준수평설계스펙트럼의 개발 (Development of Korean Standard Horizontal Design Spectrum Based on the Domestic and Overseas Intra-plate Earthquake Records)

  • The design spectrum for Korea, which is known to belong to an intra-plate region, is developed from the ground motion records of the earthquakes occurred in Korea and overseas intra-plate regions. The horizontal spectrum is defined as geometric mean spectrum, GMRotI50. From the statistical analysis of the geometric mean spectra, a mean plus one standard deviation spectrum in lognormal distribution is obtained. Regression analysis is performed on this curve to determine the shape of spectrum including transition periods. The developed design spectrum is valid for the estimation both spectral acceleration and displacement.

Buckling analysis of partially embedded pile in elastic soil using differential transform method

  • The parts of pile, above the soil and embedded in the soil are called the first region and second region, respectively. The forth order differential equations of both region for critical buckling load of partially embedded pile with shear deformation are obtained using the small-displacement theory and Winkler hypothesis. It is assumed that the behavior of material of the pile is linear-elastic and that axial force along the pile length and modulus of subgrade reaction for the second region to be constant. Shear effect is included in the differential equations by considering shear deformation in the second derivative of the elastic curve function. Critical buckling loads of the pile are calculated for by differential transform method (DTM) and analytical method, results are given in tables and variation of critical buckling loads corresponding to relative stiffness of the pile are presented in graphs.

  • The electrostatically actuated test structure was presented to measure the micro mechanical characteristics of micromaterials as thin films forming the microactuators. The test structure was fabricated by the surface micromachining processes and driven by the electrostatic force, In order to measure the fracture toughness, the sharp notch in the test structure was introduced by the etching process. On the basis of the beam bending theory, the elastic modulus was measured by using the microcantilevr beam and the mechanical displacement, curvature and deflection curve under the electrostatic force was evaluated by using the electrostatic structure.
