Purpose - This paper examines how corporate social responsibility of the Korean retail industry affects the degree of asymmetric information. Recent theories predict that a firm's active engagement in socially responsible activities lowers the degree of asymmetric information of the firm. Research design, data, and methodology - This paper uses the sum of environmental and social scores (ES), published by the Korean Corporate Governance Service in order to proxy the degree of socially responsible management practices of Korean retail firms. This paper uses the ordinary least square method to investigate the above predictions. The publicly traded Korea retail firms listed in the Korean Exchange are analyzed from 2011 to 2016. To measure the degree of asymmetric information, this paper adopts the analyst dispersion and price impact measures. Results - This paper shows that the ES score has significantly positive relationships with these two measures of information asymmetry. The environmental score seems to increase the analyst dispersion measure and the social score appears to raise the price impact measure mores significantly. Conclusions - The results do not support the prior theory expecting a negative relationship between corporate social responsibility and the degree of asymmetric information. Environmental and social scores are found to affect the measures of information asymmetry differently.

In this paper, we investigated the improvement degree of transmission distance of the various initial frequency chirped optical pulse with 5 dBm initial power dependence on the various bit rate and fiber dispersion coefficient, when MSSI(Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) with the optimal pump power condition is adopted for the compensation method for optical pulse distortion. And we analyzed the influence of mutual relation of optical pulse frequency chirp and Kerr effect on the MSSI methods for the long-haul optical transmission through the computer simulation. We found that the compensation degree of distorted optical pulse varies as a consequence of the variation of combined phase modulation of self phase modulation(Kerr effect) and initial frequency chirp parameter dependence on the fiber dispersion coefficient. And we found that, if the transmission bit rate is increased k times, the dispersion coefficient value of dispersion shift fiber is decreased $2^k$ times so as to be almost the same performance of the transmission system with k times lower bit rate.

This study is about the effect from properties of coated paper and ink dispersion to the printed mottle. Ink receptivity would be expected that it is mainly effected by roughness of coated paper Because the transfer of ink can not be uniform with rough surface, it will cause the optical appearance such like printed mottle. And also it may be able to cause the printed mottle from uneven transfer of ink due to absorption property of based paper, depend on size degree, by using dampening in Off-set printing. Each different specific of surface and ink dispersion could cause printed mottle. Therefore this study was carried out by using densitometer and image analysis to show the interaction between properties of domestic coated paper and ink dispersion.

In this paper, we investigated the degree of compensation for distorted optical pulse of wavelength division multiplexed(WDM) channel with initial frequency chirp generated in optical transmitter. The WDM channel signal distortion is due to chromatic dispersion, self phase modulation(SPM) and cross phase modulation(XPM) in fiber. The considered system is 3 ${\times}$ 40 Gbps intensity modulation direct detection(IM/DD) WDM transmission systems, which adopted mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) as compensation method. We confirmed that the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation for signal distortion due to a SPM is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually small. But, in the aspect of a compensation for signal distortion due to both SPM and XPM, the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually large.
In this paper, we proposed a new approach to weight each feature parameter by considering the dispersion of feature parameters and its degree of contribution to recognition rate. We determined the total distribution factor that is proportional to recognition rate of each feature parameter and the dispersion factor according to the dispersion of each feature parameter. Then. we determined state-dependent weighting using the total distribution factor and dispersion factor. To verify the validity of the proposed approach, recognition experiments were performed using the PLU(Phoneme-Like Unit)-based HMM. Experimental results showed the improvement of 7.7% at the recognition rate using the proposed method.

The development of polymer/inorganic nanocomposites has attracted a great deal of interest due to the improved hybrid properties derived from the two different components. Various nanoscale fillers have been used to enhance polymer mechanical and thermal properties, such as toughness, stiffness, and heat resistance. The effects of the filler on the final properties of the nanocomposites are highly dependent on the filler shape, particle size, aggregate size, surface characteristics, polymer/inorganic interactions, and degree of dispersion. In this paper, we describe the influence of different $CaCO_3$ dispersion methods on the thermal properties of polyethylene terephthalate (PET)/$CaCO_3$ composites: i.e., the adsorption of $CaCO_3$ on the modified PET surface, and the hydrophobic modification of the hydrophilic $CaCO_3$ surface. We prepared PET/$CaCO_3$ nanocomposites using a twin-screw extruder, and investigated their thermal properties and morphology.
Dispersions are prepared from poly(ethylene-co-acrylic acid) (PEAA) ionomer with two different counter-ions, ammonium and sodium. The diffusional characteristic of urea aqueous solution are measured for the films prepared from the above mentioned dispersions. It is attempted to find the relationship between diffusional behavior and various chemical and physical characteristics of films. DSC is employed to characterize glass transition temperature and degree of crystallinity and the structural features of crystal phase and ionic clusters are examined by WAXD and FTIR. The diffusional characteristics of ionomer is found to be dependent on various parameters such as the size of initial dispersion as well as the kind of counter ion and the degree of neutralization.
A polarization mode dispersion(PMD) compensator with a reponse time less than 200ms has been developed. In our PMD compensator, a reset-free $LiNbO_3$ polarization controller was used in order to reduce the response time, and the compensation algorithm was based on maximization of degree of polarizaiton(DOP).

The dependence of the performance of 40-Gb/s optical transmission using short pulses on the fiber chromatic dispersion is numerically studied. When very short pulses are used, the wide spectrum of the optical signal and the chromatic dispersion of the fiber interact in such a way that results in the reduction of nonlinear impairments of the transmission performance. The degree of this reduction is determined by the combined effects of chromatic dispersion of the fiber and the strength of the optical signal and the transmission distance. When 3ps-long pulses were used for the transmission, the eye-closure penalty was highest with the dispersion D=4ps/nm/km.

In this paper, we investigated the characteristics of compensation for distorted NRZ signal and RZ signal in 320 Gbps WDM system as a function of channel input power, fiber dispersion coefficient and transmission length, respectively. The considered WDM transmission system is based on mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) compensation method having highly nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber(HNL-DSF) optical phase conjugator(OPC) in the mid-way of total transmission line. We confirmed that the signal input power range compensated by MSSI is broadened by using RZ as a signal format in WDM system with small fiber dispersion coefficient, The range of fiber dispersion coefficient compensating overall distorted WDM channels is limited, because degree of compensation for distorted channel with low conjugated-wave power becomes gradually degrade as fiber dispersion coefficient becomes gradually higher. It is showed that RZ format and NRZ format is suited for long-haul transmission in WDM system with small fiber dispersion coefficient and with large fiber dispersion coefficient, respectively.
