To assess downward positions of water spray for the small-scale release of chlorine gas, dispersion coefficients for the Gaussian dispersion model were validated at the small-scale release experiment. And the downwind distances of water spray were assessed with the simulated results. As results, the Gaussian plume model using the Briggs' dispersion coefficient well estimated the dispersed characteristics for small-scale release of chlorine gas. The best adequate downwind position of water spray is the position of the maximum concentration of chlorine at the ground level. And the adequate vertical and horizontal dimensions of water spray consider the maximum width and height of cloud.

This paper deals with the dispersion relation of the waves sustained in a cylindrical shell submerged in the fluid. The waveguide finite method and the boundary element method are used to predict the dispersion characteristic of the cylindrical shell. The dispersion diagram of the cylinder is estimated from the eigenvalue problem and the forced vibration response. It follows that the water-loading leads to the decrease of the cut-on frequencies and the phase speeds of the bending waves. On the contrary, the longitudinal waves and the torsional waves are hardly affected by the fluid, and therefore the order of the cut-on frequencies of the waves is changed. The acoustic dispersion diagram is also estimated from the forced acoustic response to identify the characteristics of the wave radiated to the fluid. It follows that the acoustic waves on and near the surface of the cylinder are the same as those in the structure. But at the far field the acoustic waves caused by subsonic waves e.g., the bending waves disappear as the increase of the distance. Conclusively, the characteristics of waves in cylindrical shells are significantly affected by water-loading in terms of the cut-on frequency, the wave speed, the order of the cut-on and radiation.

In this paper, in order to apply the CF (color filter) type of the micro light emitting device (Micro LED) display method, a study on the manufacturing process of red and green phosphor inks for the inkjet process was conducted. The blue light-emitting KSF and LuAG phosphors were respectively used to control the phosphor particle size to about 1㎛, and a phosphor ink was prepared by synthesizing with a low-viscosity solution (IPA/Eg). A chemical dispersion method was applied to selectively control the dispersion characteristics in the manufacture of phosphor inks, and in particular, phosphor inks with a dispersant applied a dispersant secured stable dispersion characteristic compared to phosphor inks without a dispersion process. Therefore, it seems possible to manufacture CF for Micro LED through an inkjet process capable of controlling the dispersion characteristics of phosphor ink.

Flow visualization study has been conducted to simulate the turbulent dispersion behavior of a crossflow jet physically under the conditions of various thermal stratification in a wind tunnel. A smoke jet with the constant ratio of the jet to freestream velocity is injected normally to the cross flow of the thermally stratified wind tunnel(TSWT) for flow visualization. The typical natures of the smoke dispersion under different thermal stratifications such as neutral, weakly stable, strongly stable, weakly unstable, strongly unstable and inversion layer are successfully reproduced in the TSWT. The Instantaneous velocity and temperature fluctuations are measured by using a cold and hot-wire combination probe. The time averaged dispersion behaviors, the centerline trajectories, the spreading angles and the virtual origins of the cross jet are deduced from the edge detected images with respect to the stability parameter. All the general characteristics of the turbulent dispersion behavior reveal that the definitely different dispersion mechanisms are inherent in both stable and unstable conditions. It is conjectured that the turbulent statistics obtained in the various stability conditions quantitatively demonstrate the vertical scalar flux plays a key role in the turbulent dispersion behavior.

The improvement of dispersion stability for the primary polishing slurry in a CMP process is achieved to prevent defects produced by agglomeration of the slurry. The dispersion properties are analyzed according to the physical characteristics of each silica sol sample. Further, the difference in the dispersion stability is confirmed as the surfactant content. The dispersibility results measured by Zeta potential suggest that the dispersion properties depend on the content and size of the abrasive in the primary polishing slurry. Moreover, the optimum ratio for high dispersion stability is confirmed as the addition content of the surfactant. Based on the aforementioned results, the long-term stability of each slurry is analyzed. Turbiscan analysis demonstrates that the agglomeration occurs depending on the increasing amount of surfactant. As a result, we demonstrate that the increased particle size and the decreased content of silica improve the dispersion stability and long-term stability.

The leaky dispersion characteristics of a circular dielectric rod were investigated using Davidenko's method for several lower-order transverse magnetic(TM) modes. The normalized complex propagation constants were precisely determined and their tolerances below $10^{-10}$ compared with zero for both real and imaginary parts. It was also checked whether the normalized complex propagation constants obtained represented forward leaky waves. The leaky modes existing below the cutoff frequency of the guided mode were classified as a nonphysical mode, reactive mode, antenna mode, and spectral gap based on a precise determination of the complex propagation constants. Finally, the effects of the dielectric constant and radius of the dielectric rod on the leaky dispersion characteristics were also considered.
In the present research, wave propagation characteristics of a rotating FG nanobeam undergoing rotation is studied based on nonlocal strain gradient theory. Material properties of nanobeam are assumed to change gradually across the thickness of nanobeam according to Mori-Tanaka distribution model. The governing partial differential equations are derived for the rotating FG nanobeam by applying the Hamilton's principle in the framework of Euler-Bernoulli beam model. An analytical solution is applied to obtain wave frequencies, phase velocities and escape frequencies. It is observed that wave dispersion characteristics of rotating FG nanobeams are extremely influenced by angular velocity, wave number, nonlocal parameter, length scale parameter, temperature change and material graduation.

Bragg fibers, consisting of a low index core (including air) surrounded by a series of periodic layers of alternate high and low refractive index materials, each being higher than that of the core, form a 1D photonic bandgap (PBG). In view of the multitude of individual physical parameters that characterize a Bragg fiber, they offer a wide choice of parametric avenues to tailor their propagation characteristics. Owing to their unique PBG guidance mechanism, Bragg fibers indeed exhibit unusual dispersion characteristics that are otherwise nearly impossible to achieve in conventional silica fibers. Solid core Bragg fibers, amenable to fabrication by the highly mature MCVD technology, could be designed to realize broadband supercontinuum light. This talk would review our recent works on modeling of propagation characteristics, dispersion tailoring in them for applications as metro as well as dispersion compensating fibers and also as supercontinuum light generators.

In this paper, when the pulses propagate on a uniform microstrip line, the distortion of pulse signal caused by dispersion is investigated in time domain. We analyzed dispersion characteristics according to dielectric constant and structure of transmission line, and compared propagating characteristics for square and gaussian pulse according to pulse width, pulse amplitude, and propagation velocity. The results of this paper are compatible to the trade-off determination of relative permittivity, substrate height, strip width and pulse width of signal pulse when a design of MIC and MMIC is necessary.
General behaviors based on hydraulic characteristics of natural streams and channels have been recently analyzed and developed via various numerical models. However in the states of natural hydraulics, an experimental research must be performed simultaneously with the mathematical analysis due to effects of hydraulic properties such as meander, sediment, and so on. In this study based on 2-D advection-dispersion equation, flow and tracer experiments were performed in the S-curved meandering laboratory channel with a rectangular cross-section. The channel was equipped with instrument carriages which was equipped with an auto-traversing system to be used with velocity measuring sensors throughout the depth and breadth of the flow field. To measure concentration distribution of the salt solution was adjusted to that of the flume water by adding methanol and a red dye (KMnO4) was added to aid the visualization of the tracer cloud, the tracer was instantaneously injected into the flow as a full-depth vertical line source by the instantaneous injector and the initial concentration of the tracer was 100,000 mg/l. The secondary current as well as the primary flow pattern was analyzed to investigate the flow distribution in the meandering channels. The velocity distribution of the primary flow for all cases skewed toward the inner bank at the first bend, and was almost symmetric at the crossovers, and then shifted toward the inner bank again at the next alternating bend. Thus, one can clearly notice that the maximum velocity occurs taking the shortest course along the channel, irrespective of the flow conditions. The result of the tracer tests shows that pollutant clouds are spreading following the maximum velocity lines in each cases with various mixing patterns like superposition, separation, and stagnation of pollutant clouds. Flow characteristics in each cases performed in this study can be compared with tracer dispersion characteristics with using evaluation of longitudinal and transverse dispersion coefficients(LDC, TDC). As expected, LDC and TDC in meandering parts have been evaluated with increasing distribution and straight parts have effected to evaluate minimum of LDC and TDC due to symmetric flow patterns and attenuations of secondary flow.
