  • The free vibration of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by hydro dynamic bearings in a HDD is analyzed by FEM. The spinning flexible disk is described using Kirchhoff plate theory and von Karman non-linear strain, and its rigid body motion is also considered. It is discretized by annular sector element. The rotating spindle which includes the clamp, hub, permanent magnet and yoke, is modeled by Timoshenko beam including the gyroscopic effect. The flexible supporting structure with a complex shape which includes stator core, housing, base plate, sleeve and thrust pad is modeled by using a 4-node tetrahedron element with rotational degrees of freedom to satisfy the geometric compatibility. The dynamic coefficients of HDB are calculated from the HDB analysis program, which solves the perturbed Raynolds equation using FEM. Introducing the virtual nodes and the rigid link constraints defined in the center of HDB, beam elements of the shaft are connected to the solid elements of the sleeve and thrust pad through the spring and damper element. The global matrix equation obtained by assembling the finite element equations of each substructure is transformed to the state-space matrix-vector equation, and the associated eigenvalue problem is solved by using the restarted Arnoldi iteration method. The validity of this research is verified by comparing the numerical results of the natural frequencies with the experimental ones. Also the effect of supporting structures to the natural modes of the total HDD system is rigorously analyzed.

  • The clutch with torsional damper is installed on a passenger car with manual transmission, which not only transmits the power generated by engine to the transmission but also absorbs the shock and vibration from the engine. The torsional damper in the clutch dissipates the torsional vibration energy and eliminates the resonance in the driveline but high damping in the damper causes the increase of the vibration level which is against the comfort and durability. In this study, a dynamic model for the passenger car driveline with manual transmission was developed to investigate the vibration and the effects of characteristics of the driveline. With the dynamic model, the vibration characteristics of driveline were examined by the mode analysis and driving simulation, and the effects of hysteresis torque and spring constant were investigated. The vehicle tests with prototype torsional dampers were preformed and the test results showed good agreements with the simulation.

  • According to recent trend, hard disk drive(HDD) has been smaller and less weight. Therefore, it needs new method of writing position information. In this thesis, a new controller that is suitable for SSW is proposed. The controller accepted SSW technology that is used to write position information in current HDD industry. The important condition to perform SSW is to reach constant velocity decided from the head velocity profile as fast as possible. The constant velocity decides the positional accuracy of spiral pattern and setup time decides the capacity of HDD. The head velocity profile as a reference signal must be designed not to cause resonance mode. The proposed controller was designed with consideration of these 3 elements, and it properly works for SSW. The velocity profile designed with SMART control not only minimizes the jerk, but also does not cause the resonance mode of a plant. After designing a conventional PID controller, it compared with electrical spring technique and ZPET technique.

PHOTOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE BRIGHT LENTICULAR GALAXY NGC 5102

  • Using the photographic imagery of the SO galaxy NGC 5102, the equivalent luminosity profile and the fractional integrated luminosity curve have been derived. Several photometric parameters of the galaxy, such as a total magnitude ($B_T$), equivalent radius ($r^*_e$), effective surface brightness (${\mu}^*_e$), and concentration indices ($C_{21}$, $C_{32}$) were derived from the luminosity profiles. According to the decomposition method from the nonlinear least squares fitting, photometric parameters of the bulge (${\mu}_e$, $r_e$) and the exponential disk (${\mu}(0)$, ${\alpha}^{-1}$), and the bulge to total luminosity ratio (B/T) were obtained. The derived central disk surface brightness (${\mu} (0)\;=\;22.06\;{\pm}\;0.18\;mag/\Box"$) and the evaluated B/T ratio (= 0.52) of the NGC 5102 are close to the mean values (${\mu} (0)\;=\;21.65\;{\pm}\;0.3\;mag/\Box"$, B/T=0.63) of the SO galaxies. Analysis showed that a lens-like hump is embedded in the equivalent luminosity profile of the NGC 5102.

  • Nowadays, function related to anti-vibration and anti-shock of storage devices is required because of portability. Therefore, many hard disk drive (HDD) studies about external shock and vibration have been performed. Especially, many studies are performed with non-operational shock. Most studies have used the fixed condition between spindle system and base when they wanted to analyze dynamic behavior of inner parts in simulation. But spindle system has actually stiffness and damping coefficient. Maybe difference of value would be happened between fixed condition and spring condition. So, we measured FRF of spindle system to know stiffness and damping coefficient in HDD. And we studied on dynamic behavior of inner parts by using calculated stiffness and damping coefficient. As a result, we confirmed the difference as boundary condition of spindle system.

  • In this paper, polymer housing arrester has very good characteristics in design versatility as well as excellent resistance to moist ingress and pollution performance. For the presented of the characteristics evaluation and technology of disk spring and knuckle structure of FRP to filament winding seems to protect the arrester elements from moisture absorption. The achievement in the research and technology will contribute to the showed very good characteristic in adhesion of terminal cap and FRP cylinder for outdoor arresters and domestic products of high voltage power distribution arrester.

  • This paper proposes a small VCM (Voice coil motor) type actuator using curved suspensions for auto-focusing and zoom motions for mobile information devices. 1'he proposed focusing actuator adopts a nontraditional type of suspension using curved beams in order to extend output displacement within small height restriction. The curved beam is similar to the leaf spring type which is usually used in optical disk drives. In addition, three different materials are considered for the curved suspension model, and Aluminum shows the best dynamic characteristics. The proposed zoom actuator does not use a suspension supporting bobbin but a moving rail and a sloper mechanism by generating rotational force at lens holder. The sensitivity of design parameters on output performance is studied using ANSYS (3D FEM tool). Experiments using a prototype of the proposed actuator model verified the analytical prediction and performance.

액체전해액의 함량에 따른 리튬이온전지 코인셀의 전기화학적 특성 연구 (Effect of Electrolyte Amounts on Electrochemical Properties of Coin-Type Lithium-Ion Cells)

  • 많은 실험실 기반의 리튬이차전지 실험결과는 코인셀로부터 얻어진다. 이는 조립의 용이성, 저렴한 가격, 실험 결과의 우수한 재연성 등에 기인한다. 코인셀은 케이스(case), 가스켓(gasket), 스페이서(spacer disk), 스프링(wave spring)로 구성되어 있으며, 이러한 구조적인 특성으로 인하여 코인셀은 상용화된 파우치, 각형 및 원통형 전지에 비하여 전극 무게 대비 많은 양의 전해질을 포함하게 된다. 하지만 과량의 전해액이 셀의 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구는 현재까지 이루어지지 않은 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 액체 전해액의 양을 다르게 제어하여 코인셀에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 전해액의 양은 전극 용량 대비 30, $100mg\;mAh^{-1}$(전해액의 양/전극용량)로 제어하였으며, 조립된 셀의 전해액 함량에 따른 전기화학적 특성을 확인하기 위해 초기 충 방전 곡선과 상온 ($25^{\circ}C$), 고온 ($60^{\circ}C$) 및 고전압(4.5 V)에서의 수명특성평가를 진행하였다. $30mg\;mAh^{-1}$의 전해액을 포함하는 단위 전지의 경우, 고온 및 고전압 조건에서 $100mg\;mAh^{-1}$의 경우에 비해 매우 우수한 방전 용량 유지 특성을 나타내었다. 전자는 후자보다 더 큰 내부저항 증가를 보였으며, 이를 통해 전해액의 양이 전지의 방전 용량 유지 특성에 매우 큰 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다.

Delayed Operation Characteristics of Power Shuttle According to Hydraulic Oil Temperature in the Hydraulic Circuit of Agricultural Tractor

  • Purpose: During the start-up period, the response time of a hydraulic system increases in the winter because of the increased oil viscosity caused by the cold weather. The problems of delayed tractor starting and excessive wear of the clutch disk occur for these reasons. Therefore, this study develops an analysis model using the commercial hydraulic analysis program AMESim to examine the characteristics of delays in power shuttle starting at different oil temperatures. Methods: In the experiment, a tractor was stationary on a flat surface with the engine running at a constant speed of 1,080 rpm. The forward lever was then pressed to activate the power shuttle at three different oil temperatures, and the pressure changes were measured. The pressure on the forward clutch control valve was measured by a pressure gauge installed on the hydraulic line supplied to the transmission from the main valve. An analysis model was also developed and verified with actual tests. Results: The trend of the simulated pressures of the power shuttle is similar to that of the measured pressures, and a constant modulation period was observed in both the simulation and test results. However, the difference found between the simulation and test results was the initial pressure required to overcome the initial force of the clutch spring. Conclusions: This study also examines the characteristics of the delayed startup of the power shuttle at different oil temperatures through simulations.
