In this paper, we propose a method of disease diagnosis system that can diagnose the health status of household pets for the people who lack veterinary knowledge. The proposed diagnosis system holds 50 different kinds of diseases with the symptoms for each of them as a database to provide results from symptom input. Each disease database has its own symptom codes for a disease, and by using the disease database, FCM clustering technique is applied to disease which outputs membership degree to determine diseases close to the input symptom as a pet diagnosis result. The implementation results of the proposed pet diagnosis system were obtained by the number of selected symptoms and the possibility values of the diseases that have the selected symptoms being sorted in descending order to derive top 3 diseases closest to the pet's symptom.

Expert systems for health diagnosis are only for medical experts who have deep knowledge in the field but we need a self-checking pre-diagnosis system for preventive public health monitoring. Korea Traditional Medicine is popular in use among Korean public but there exist few available health information systems on the internet. A computerized self-checking diagnosis system is proposed to reduce the social cost by monitoring health status with simple symptom checking procedures especially for Korea Traditional Medicine users. Based on the national reports for disease/symptoms of Korea Traditional Medicine, we build a reliable database and devise an intelligent inference engine using fuzzy c-means clustering. The implemented system gives five most probable diseases a user might have with respect to symptoms given by the user. Inference results are verified by Korea Traditional Medicine doctors as sufficiently accurate and easy to use.

While the population of pet dogs and pet-related markets are increasing, there is no convenient and reliable tool for pet health monitoring for pet owners/caregivers. In this paper, we propose a mobile platform-based pre-diagnosis system that pet owners can use for pre-diagnosis and obtaining information on coping strategies based on their observations of the pet dog's abnormal behavior. The proposed system constructs symptom-disease association databases for 100 frequently observed diseases under veterinarian guidance. Then, we apply the possibilistic fuzzy C-means algorithm to form the "probable disease" set and the "doubtable disease" set from the database. In the experiment, we found that the proposed system found almost all diseases correctly, with an average of 4.5 input symptoms and outputs 1.5 probable and one doubtable disease on average. The utility of this system is to alert the owner's attention to the pet dog's abnormal behavior and obtain an appropriate coping strategy before consult a veterinarian.

Objectives Mibyeong is an ideological concept that means the state between the healthy and diseased conditions. The purpose of this study was to suggest a research direction to establish the diagnostic criteria for the Mibyeong by reviewing the research results for the Mibyeong. Methods Academic databases (OASIS for Korean database, Embase for English database, and CNKI for Chinese database) were used to search related literatures, and articles describing the concept or diagnostic criteria of the disease were selected. Results The concept of Mibyeong consisted of three different conditions: (1) subjective symptoms without a specific disease, (2) abnormal examination findings without a specific disease, and (3) a state in between health and disease. No matter which of the three conditions is applied, the spectrum of condition was very wide and diverse. Conclusions It is impossible to apply appropriate and monolithic diagnostic criteria to all types of Mibyeong. Therefore, we suggests that the Mibyeong be classified into several subtypes and the diagnostic criteria suitable for each type be established.
In this paper, we propose the diagnosis system that can predict pet's state of health for pet lovers lacking a technical knowledge of dog-diseases. The proposed system deduces diseases of dogs from input symptoms by our database constructed with 105 kinds of diseases and symptoms. First, a disease is clustered by ART2, the self-learning method in neural network and secondly, the result values, outputs and the weight values clustered by the algorithm are stored to database. Finally, our system diagnoses the state of health by means of comparing the learned information of diseases with the input vectors of each symptom and the related results of questions on diseases. The correct information of diseases and symptom diagnosing is important to predict the state of health of dogs. Therefore, in this paper, the proposed system can manage symptoms and diseases efficiently by database and ART2. We ask veterinary specialist with the efficiency of our system. As a result, we could confirm the possibility as the auxiliary diagnosis system for dog diseases.

Coronaviruses are known respiratory pathogens. In the past, most human coronaviruses were thought to cause mild symptoms such as cold. However recently, as seen in the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), infectious diseases with severe pulmonary disease and respiratory symptoms are caused by coronaviruses, making research on coronaviruses become important. Considering previous studies, we constructed 'HCoV-IMDB (Human Corona Virus Immune Database)' to systematically provide genetic information on human coronavirus and host immune information, which can be used to analyze the interaction between human coronavirus and host immune proteins. The 'HCoV-IMDB' constructed in the study can be used to search for genetic information on human coronavirus and host immune protein and to download data. A BLAST search specific to the human coronavirus, one of the database functions, can be used to infer genetic information and evolutionary relationship about the query sequence.
In this paper, we propose a home medical system that integrates a self-diagnosing disease classification system and a tele-consulting system by communication technology. The proposed disease classification system supports to self-diagnose the health condition based on oriental medical science using fuzzy neural network algorithm. The prepared database includes 72 different diseases and their associated symptoms based on a famous medical science book "Dong-eui-bo-gam". The proposed system extracts three most prospective diseases from user's symptoms by analyzing disease database with fuzzy neural network technology. Technically, user's symptoms are used as an input vector and the clustering algorithm based upon a fuzzy neural network is performed. The degree of fuzzy membership is computed for each probable cluster and the system infers the three most prospective diseases with their degree of membership. Such information should be sent to medical doctors via our tele-consulting system module. Finally a user can take an appropriate consultation via video images by a medical doctor. Oriental medical doctors verified the accuracy of disease diagnosing ability and the efficacy of overall system's plausibility in the real world.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of reminiscence therapy on depressive symptoms in older adults with dementia using a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published from January 2000 to January 2018 were searched through Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS), Korean Medical Database (KMbase), KoreaMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Ovid MEDLINE. Two researchers independently performed the search, selection, and coding. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis 3.0 was used for meta-analysis, and Review Manager program 5.3 was used for quality assessment. Results: Out of the 1,250 retrieved articles, 22 RCTs were selected for analysis. The overall effect size of reminiscence therapy for mitigating depressive symptoms in older adults with dementia was -0.62 (95% Cl: -0.92 to -0.31). The effect size was greater in older adults under 80, those with less disease severity, and those for whom the therapy session lasted less than 40 minutes. Conclusion: Reminiscence therapy is an effective non-pharmacological therapy to improve depressive symptoms in older adults with dementia. Because its effectiveness is also influenced by age, disease severity, and application method, it is necessary to consider treatment designs based on individual characteristics as well as methodological approaches.

Background: This is a study for building up the database foundation and about graphic structures of Ontology Network systems of Taeyangbyung compilation in Sanghannon in Traditonal Korean Medicine. Therefore, we began to this study about the systematic clinical ontology network systems with priority given to symptoms of Taeyangbyung compilation in Sanghannon. Purpose: We have two goals to carry out this study. The first, we will establish the minimum clinical grouping data sets about symptoms of Taeyangbyung compilation in Sanghannon. The second, we will find out graphic structures of ontology network system in this part, and analysis that. Methods: Through MS office Excel, Access and Netminer software, we will construct the minimum clinical grouping data sets and the graphic structures of ontology network system about symptoms of Taeyangbyung compilation in Sanghannon, and analysis that. Results: We established the minimum clinical grouping data sets about symptoms of Taeyangbyung compilation in Sanghannon through MS Excel and Access software, and constructed the ontology images to structurize our database through Netminer program, and analysis that. Conclusions: Further research about ontology network between symptoms and prescription and three Yang and three Um(Taeyang, Soyang, Yangmyung, Taeum, Soum, Gualum) Disease compilation is necessary.
In August 2006, a severe disease incidence showing mosaic and/or necrotic symptoms on two bell pepper varieties including red-colored 'Special' and yellow-colored 'Fiesta' was observed in a greenhouse located in Gwangyang, Jeonnam province, Korea. To identify causal viruses, total RNAs were extracted from 11 fruit samples with and without symptoms. Specific oligonucleotide primers for Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Pepper mottle virus (PepMoV), Tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) and Pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) were designed based on the sequences available on GenBank. Database comparisons of the deduced amino acid sequences of each sequence produced 100% and 98% matches with nucleocapsid protein gene of TSWV (Acc. No. ABE11605) and coat protein gene of CMV (Acc. No. DQ018289), respectively, suggesting that the symptoms on bell pepper fruits might be caused by the infection of CMV and TSWV. To our knowledge this is the first report of necrotic as well as mosaic virus disease on bell pepper fruits by the infection of CMV and TSWV in Jeonnam province, Korea.
