Purpose: This study was to validate the Korean version of the Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professions Students (K-JSE-HPS) in undergraduate nursing students. Methods: With a survey design, a total of 293 junior and senior nursing students were recruited and data were collected using a self-administered study questionnaire to measure their levels of empathy use the K-JSE-HPS. Using SPSS/WIN 22.0 and AMOS 22.0, data analysis was conducted with confirmatory factor analysis, criterion validity, and reliability. Results: For construct validity, confirmatory factor analysis showed an acceptable model fit (Goodness of Fit Index was 0.88) along with confirming convergent and discriminant validity (construct reliability was 0.70). For criterion validity, the scale was significantly related with the Interpersonal Reaction Index. For reliability, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient for the scale was 0.87 and for the subscales were 0.84, 0.78, and 0.69, respectively. Conclusion: The findings show satisfactory construct and criterion validity and reliability of the Korean version of the JSE-HPS for measuring empathy in undergraduate nursing students.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a quality of life scale for Korean patients with cancer (C-QOL). Methods: The C-QOL was developed and validated as follows, item generation, pilot study, and psychometric tests. A total of 337 patients diagnosed with stomach, liver, lung, colon, breast, or cervix cancer were recruited. The patients were asked to complete the preliminary questionnaire comprising the content-validated items, the SF-36, and the ECOG performance status. The obtained data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, factor analysis, multidimensional scaling (MDS), multitrait/multi-item matrix, ANOVA, t-test, and Cronbach's alpha. Results: Preliminarily twenty-six items were generated through content validity and a pilot study. Factor analysis and MDS extracted a total of 21 items with a 5-point Likert-type scale (C-QOL). The C-QOL included five subscales: physical status (6 items), emotional status (6 items), social function (3 items), concern status (2 items), and coping function (4 items). The C-QOL established content validity, construct validity, item convergent and discriminant validity, known-groups validity, reliability, and sensitivity. Conclusion: The Newly developed C-QOL is an easily applicable instrument which established psychometric properties and reflected Korean culture. It is recommended for further study to examine the responsiveness of the C-QOL using a longitudinal research design.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument to assess nursing professional pride. Methods: Fifty-six preliminary items were identified through literature review and focus group interview of nurses working in a hospital. Of these, 45 preliminary instruments were completed over 0.80 of content validity index. To verify the reliability and validity of the preliminary instrument, data were collected from 294 nurses. The data were analyzed using factor analysis and multidimensional scaling analysis. Results: From the factor analysis, 27 significant items were divided into 5 subscales. These subscales were as follows: feeling of vocation, role satisfaction, role of problem solver, self-achievement, and willingness to stay. The nursing professional pride also established criterion-related validity, discriminant validity, and group validity. Cronbach's α of the instrument was .92, and the subscales ranged from .74 to .85. Conclusion: The developed scale for nursing professional pride shows validity and reliability. The significance of this study is the development of an instrument capable of measuring nursing professional pride. To verify the relevance of this instrument, conducting comparative studies is suggested.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a measurement tool for a positive nursing organizational culture and to verify its reliability and validity. Methods: A conceptual framework and construct factors were extracted through an extensive literature review and in-depth interviews with nurses. The final version of the preliminary tool for the main survey was confirmed by experts through a content validity test and a preliminary survey of 40 nurses. Subsequently, the final tool was developed using a validity and reliability test containing 43 preliminary items. The final version of the tool was used with 327 hospital nurses in the testing phase for the main survey to assess validity and reliability. Results: From the factor analysis, 4 factors and 26 items were selected. The factors were positive leadership of the nursing unit manager, pursuit of common values, formation of organizational relationships based on trust, and a fair management system. The entire determination coefficient was 67.7%. These factors were verified through convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity testing. The internal consistency reliability was acceptable (Cronbach's α = .95). Conclusion: Both the validity and reliability of the scale were confirmed demonstrating its utility for measuring positive nursing organizational culture. It is expected to be used for education, research, and practical performance policies regarding the nursing organizational culture.
Technology adoption for information appliance, which is expected to grow rapidly in the near future, is different from other technologies in that it is mainly used in the home environment when the customers haven't experienced it before. This paper finds important variables from prior research about technology adoption and develops a measurement model that fits for the information appliance. Pretest and pilot studies for the model is conducted in order to guarantee content validity, reliability, convergent validity and discriminant validity. Finally, LISREL analysis is used for finding out the causality among variables and testing for model fitness. The results indicate that three factors that influence behavioral intention are attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. Attitude is influenced by attitudinal belief, which consists of perceived usefulness, trialability, result demonstrability, image and enjoyment. Perceived behavioral control is influenced by control belief that consists of rapid change in technology, cost and ease of use. This paper ends with implications and limitations of study results.

This study identified convergent validity and discriminant validity of measurement variables by factor analysis using Spss program and tested covariance measurement model including latent variables such as the website attributes (interactivity, search and visual information of website), shopping values(utilitarian and hedonic value) and attitude toward website by AMOS program. The data were collected from a sample of 271 internet shopper of university students(male: 82, female: 189). They visited the website for apparel shopping and, after searching a casual clothing which they wanted to buy, requested to answer the questionnaire. The results were as follows: Variables that reduce validity were deleted in the several steps of factor analysis and initial measurement model testing. Final measurement model was constructed by valid variables was accepted. This measurement model will be input for testing causal research model that can explain how attributes of the website influences on consumer attitude toward the website.
The purpose of this study is to examine the utility of the modified form of CTS2(the revised Conflict Tactic Scales) for use of children on university students fo Korea. To attain this purpose, we modified Straus's CTS2(the revised Conflict Tactic Scale) for use of children. It consist of negotiation subscale, physical assault subscale, psychological aggression subscale and injury subscale without sexual coercion subscale. The subjects consisted of 288 students from 19 to 24 of age. As results of analysis(correlation, factor analysis, Cronbach' α), reliability of subscales of CTS2 range from .83 to .98 and total reliability of CTS2 is .93 And there are evidences of construct validity(the convergent validity and discriminant validity) fo CTS2. we examine the prevalence of wife abuse behavior in our subjects' parents. There are the high prevalence of psychological aggression(75.7%) and physical assault(43.4%)

The purpose of this study is to establish a basis for assessing construct validity of measures used in organizational research. The classic Campbell and Fiske's(1959) criteria are found to be lacking in their assumptions, diagnostic information, and power. The inherent confounding of measurement error with systematic trait and method effects is a severe limitation for a proper interpretation of convergent and discriminant validity. The confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) approach overcomes most of the limitations found in Campbell and Fiske's(1959) method. However, the CFA approach confounds random error with unique variance specific to a measure. The second-order confirmatory factor analysis(SOCFA) was shown to harbor rather restrictive assumptions and is unlikely to be met in practice. The first-order, multiple-informant, multiple-item(FOMIMI) model is a viable option, but it may also be of limited use because of the large number measures.
The purpose of this study was to develop the Daily Hassles Scale for children in Korea. The subject were 444 children of 184 fourth graders and 260 sixth graders selected form five elementary schools in Seoul(217 male and 227 female). A questionnaire consisting of 90-item daily hassles scale, demographic questions, and some additional questions was used as a methodological instrument. statistics used for data analysis were X2, cramer's V, factor analysis, multi-regression, Pearson's r, Cronbach's α. The major findings of this study were as follows. 1) 87 items of the 90-item scale were acceptible through item discriminant method. The discriminant coefficients of the items(Cramer's V) ranged form .28 to .73. 2) 6 factors(parents, home environment, friends, studies, teachers & school, the surroundings) were extracted from factor analysis. Multi-regression analysis conducted to reduce the length of scale have drawed 42 items for 'the Daily Hassles Scale for Children in Korea'. The correlation between this scale and the Quality of Life Scale(Olson & Barnes, 1982) was conducted to test the criterion-related validity, and the coefficient was significant(r=-.52, p<.001).3) Finally, reliability coefficients(Cronbach'α) of this scale was. 85.
