Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the physical and mental health status of disaster victims according to disaster types, such as a typhoon disaster and an oil spill disaster, and to suggest adequate health care services for them. Methods: A total of 484 people who suffered disasters were selected for this study, and data were collected from July to August, 2008. The data-set for this study included 286 victims of typhoon disasters in Jeju and Jeollanamdo district in South Korea, and 198 victims of the oil spill disaster in Taean. Physical health status was measured using revised Patient Health Questionnaire and mental health status was measured using the Korean version of 'Post-traumatic Diagnostic Scale'. Results: According to the comparative analyses of typhoon disaster victims and oil spill disaster victims, poorer physical health outcomes were shown among the oil spill disaster victims when compared to the typhoon disaster victims. Also, the oil spill disaster victims showed symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, at rates higher than those found among the typhoon disaster victims. Conclusions: These findings suggest that there is a need to provide adequate physical and mental health-related care services for oil spill disaster victims. The seriousness of oil spill disaster should be realized and reconsidered in developing recovery strategies and disaster preparedness for physical and mental health services.
The disaster preparedness system in Korea has been developed in spite of many obstacles, but there are still many problems especially on actual preparedness including disaster drill and disaster medical system. Disaster drills performed by wide regional emergency medical centers for one years were analyzed based on the disaster drill report and additional compensation of incomplete data by direct contact with the participating institutions. On the disaster medical drills in Korea, it is necessary to emphasize drills on various types of disaster, active participation of medical personnels, drills combined with various types of related institutions, process of disaster medical aspect.
This research develops a methodology for standard design of spatial Database utilizing the disaster ethnography. Especially, the disaster response operation is sensitive to the size of the disaster, location, damage situation, resource a variability, etc. Moreover, there are many unknown and unexpected factors that will affect the disaster response strategy. But, the future Crisis Management Systems is needed that past disaster teaching. In another words, from now on the response systems need to prepare several scenarios and spatial data and manual etc. before the disaster. Then, this research is the experimental research which examined the relationship between the disaster-ethnography and the GIS spatial data of disaster.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate disaster preparedness competence and disaster response competence of paramedics working in emergency medical centers operating a disaster medical assistance teams. Methods: Data of 174 emergency medical technician(EMT)-paramedics were collected from July 15 to August 14, 2018 at regional and local emergency medical centers that operate disaster medical assistant team. Analysis of the data was carried out with IBM SPSS statistics 24.0 software (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). Results: The mean disaster preparedness competence score was $3.57{\pm}0.63$ (out of five). Participants' disaster preparedness competence significantly differed according to type of emergency medical center (p<.000), disaster education experience (p<.000), and education frequency (p=.001). The mean disaster response competence score was $4.09{\pm}0.57$ (out of five). Participants' disaster response competence significantly differed according to disaster education experience (p<.000) and medical assistance experience (p=.045). Conclusion: Emergency medical technician-paramedics without disaster training should first be provided with this training. Further, it is important for EMT-paramedics to know their disaster preparedness and response capacities and strengthen their shortcomings. It is also important to develop education and training programs that properly equip EMT-paramedics with practical competencies.

The global warming by greenhouse gases causes climate change and disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis frequently, leading to great damage. It is important to build efficient and scalable disaster response services to minimize the damage. Existing disaster warning service by the mobile text is limited by the scalability and the data size to be delivered. In this paper, we propose a framework for disaster response services that is efficient and flexible by allowing to adopt various indexing schemes and scalable by supporting any number of clients in disaster situations anytime and anywhere. Also, the framework by wireless data broadcast can be free from the limitation of the size of data to be delivered. We design and implement the proposed framework and evaluate the framework. For the evaluation, we simulate the implemented framework by adopting various indexing schemes like HCI, DSI and TTSI, and by comparing the access times of the clients. Through the evaluation, we show that the proposed framework can provide efficient and scalable and flexible disaster response services.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify problems of current educational facility data management and recommend a standardized terminology classification system as a solution. In addition, the research aims to present a preemptive and integrated disaster and safety management framework for educational facilities by seeking efficient business processes through secured data quality, systematic data management, and external data linkage and analysis.
