Posture Control through Decomposed Control for Multi-Legged Biomimetic Underwater Robot (CALEB10) (다족형 생체모방 수중 로봇(CALEB10)의 각 자유도를 분리한 자세 제어)

  • This paper describes a study on posture control of the multi-legged biomimetic underwater robot (CALEB10). Because the underwater environment has a feature that all degrees of freedom are coupled to each other, we designed the posture control algorithm by separating each degree of freedom. Not only should the research on posture control of underwater robots be a precedent study for position control, but it is also necessary to compensate disturbance in each direction. In the research on the yaw directional posture control, we made the drag force generated by the stroke of the left leg and the right leg occur asymmetrically, in order that a rotational moment is generated along the yaw direction. In the composite swimming controller in which the controllers in each direction are combined, we designed the algorithm to determine the control weights in each direction according to the error angle along the yaw direction. The performance of the proposed posture control method is verified by a dynamical simulator and underwater experiments.

  • In this study we carried out to analyze the effect of wind load on the structural stability of a container crane according to the change of the boom shape using wind tunnel test and provided a container crane designer with data which can be used in a wind resistance design of a container crane assuming that a wind load at 75m/s wind velocity is applied on a container crane. Data acquisition conditions for this experiment were established in accordance with the similarity. The scale of a container crane dimension, wind velocity and time were chosen as 1/200, 1/13.3 and 1/15. And this experiment was implemented in an Eiffel type atmospheric boundary-layer wind tunnel with $11.52m^2$ cross-section area. Each directional drag and overturning moment coefficients were investigated and uplift forces at each supporting point due to the wind load were analyzed.

  • Wind tunnel test for Forward-Swept wing airplane model, a part of the Korea-Russia technical cooperation program has been conducted at both TsAGI T-102 and KARI LSWT. The results of TsAGI T-102, obtained by using a unique wire-suspension model support system, and KARI LSWT, used tripod and tandem strut arrangement configuration, are compared with various model conditions including control surface deflection such as flap, aileron, elevator and rudder. Good agreement in the value of drag-polar is observed between TsAGI T-102 and KARI LSWT data. The lateral and directional stability coefficients with rudder and aileron deflection represent a good agreement in both facility.

The scale of an articulation type container crane dimension, wind velocity and time were chosen as 1/200, 1/13.3 and 1/15. And this experiment was implemented in an Eiffel type atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel with $11.52m^2$ cross-section area. Each directional drag and overturning moment coefficients were investigated and uplift forces at each supporting point due to the wind load were analyzed.

  • During the conceptual design phase of a light sport aircraft, the wind tunnel tests were conducted to investigate the static stability of newly-designed configuration. The 1/5 scale-down wind tunnel model consisted of fuselage, main wing, vertical tail and horizontal tail. The main wing and tails were able to be attached or detached from the fuselage. The aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the 6 different configurations compounding each component were measured by using the internal balance system and their static stability derivatives were derived. With these experimental data, the baseline lift and drag characteristics as well as the effects of each component to the longitudinal, directional and lateral static stability were quantitatively analyzed.

  • This study introduces the characteristics and some applications of repetitive polypeptides, especially to the biomaterial, tissue engineering scaffolds, drug delivery system, and DNA separation systems. Since some fibrous proteins, which consist of repeating peptide monomers, have been reported that their physical properties are changed dramatically by means of temperature alteration or pH shifting. For that reason, fibrous protein-mimetic polypeptides, which are produced by the recombinant technology, can be applied to the diverse biological fields. Repetitive polypeptides can also be used in the bioseparation area such as DNA sequencing, because they make DNA separation possible in free-solution electrophoresis by conjugating DNA fragments to them. Moreover, artificial synthesis of repetitive polypeptides helps to demonstrate the correlations between mechanical properties and structures of natural protein polymer, which have been proven that repetitive domains are affected by the sequence of the repeating domains and the number of repeating subunits. Repetitive polypeptides can be biologically synthesized using some special cloning methods, which are represented here. Recursive directional ligation (RDL) and controlled cloning method (CCM) have been proposed as excellent cloning methods in that we can control the number of repetition in the multimerization of polypeptides and the components of repetitive polypeptides by either method.
