Technological Innovation System for Energy Transition in Small Island Developing States: Adaptive Capacity, Market Formation and Policy Direction in the Maldives

  • By analyzing the adaptive capacity, market formation and policy direction as functional areas of Technological Innovation System (TIS), the article evaluates the progress of renewable energy transition in the Maldives, with the inclusion of ideas from Mauritius and Cabo Verde. On the policy direction in the Maldives, technology roadmaps produced with assistance from International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) are evaluated. Although there are inducing factors such as the Solar Risk Management Initiative, the progress of energy transition is hindered by the lack of technical capacity and local value chain. The findings indicate the importance of facilitating and establishing industry and knowledge networks, incorporating innovation policies, greater involvement of the local private sector along with international investors, and taking water-energy nexus to achieve complementary targets. The study adds value to knowledge by offering a simplified TIS framework, with a current insight of the energy transition in Small Island Developing States with a focus on the Maldives.

  • The purpose of this study is promote perfect of construction and progress of packing ability through comparison and analysis with quality, as placing ways and placing direction are changed. Kinds of concrete are general, high fluidity, and high Performance concrete. Classified with concrete as placing ways - direct ways, sheath way - and placing directing - flange direction, web direction - is analyzed section and strength of hardened concrete. The results of this study is belows the more fluid of concrete, the more useful to top-down method.

  • In this paper, We designed the local path planning direction algorithmusing fuzzy controller applied fuzzy logic. Algorithm decieded a direction angle by theposition of obstacle, the distance with obstacle, the progress direction of robot, the speed of vehicles and the perception area of sensor. The robot designed with proposed algorithm carried out soft moving without any particular operation, and we could observe that it had very soft curved moving as if an expert drove.

  • Housing Performance Grade Indication System is one of the advanced system which operate globally in three countries. Housing Performance Grade Indication System of the Japan and Korea has points of similarity and distinction according to special situations of own condition and government. The purpose of a study is how characteristics have points of view about background, composition and an outline of the system, indication standard and method, the situation of issue, making progress direction and what is the clear differences. Also, it is to obtain hints for making progress direction of domestic Housing Performance Grade Indication System. The method of study is in parallel with literature survey, also collection through visiting to researcher, operation company, evaluation institution, housing company of the Japan. and to use data as a result of international workshop on November 2008. Because domestic research team is studying about making system and evaluation, revision, this study will make use this data.

  • In this study, I analysed the Direction of Progress for the Korean Export Insurance upon Export Support for Its Small-Middle Company, investigated Korean Export Insurance focussing on the Export Support for Its Small-Middle Company since Korea Export Insurance Coporation(KEIC)'s establishment and sought for the measures overcoming problems therewith. In my research I started from a basic model analyzing the Korean Export Insurance for Its Small-Middle Company using added several variables that have effect on such export relative price, world income and the amount of the Korean Export Insurance for Its Small-Middle Company. As a result, amount of the Korean Export Insurance for Its Small-Middle Company, world income and export relative price showed expected responses and were significant. Also world income showed expected responses but was not significant. In case of amount of the Korean Export Insurance for Its Small-Middle Company was statistical significance.

  • 최근 통로를 지나가는 사람을 계수하거나 특정 공간 내 사람이 몇 명 있는지를 계수하는 시스템에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행 중이다. 기존의 인원 계수 시스템은 기둥 혹은 벽 주변에만 설치 가능한 적외선, 초음파, 카메라 등을 이용하여 인원을 계수하였다. 적외선, 초음파의 경우, 가격은 싸지만 다수의 보행자가 동시에 들어오는 상황이 발생할 경우 출입을 감지하기에는 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 압전 센서를 이용하여 센서매트를 설계하였다. 또한, 보행자의 진행방향을 파악하고, 방향에 따라 인원을 계수할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다. 센서 매트는 보행자가 센서 매트 위로 걸어 갈 때 센서에 감지된 압력과 시간을 통해 방향성을 파악하고 지나가는 보행자의 수를 파악하여 준다.

Current limiting characteristics of transformer type SFCL with coupled secondary windings according to its winding direction

  • In this paper, the current limiting characteristics of the transformer type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with the two coupled secondary windings due to its winding direction were analyzed. To analyze the dependence of transient fault current limiting characteristics on the winding direction of the additional secondary winding, the fault current limiting tests of the SFCL with an additional secondary winding, wound as subtractive polarity winding and additive polarity winding, were carried out. The time interval of quench occurrence between two superconducting elements comprising the transformer type SFCL with the additional secondary winding was confirmed to be affected by the winding direction of the additional secondary winding. In case of the subtractive polarity winding of the additional secondary winding, the time interval of the quench occurrence in two superconducting elements was shorter than the case of the additive polarity winding.

  • I report here about the future direction of cooperation of astronomy in East Asia region, which has been a long-years subject of the EAMA since 1990. During this EAMA-6 we had many positive discussions and remarkable progress toward the promotion of our cooperation. We also had an 'East Asian Observatory' WG meeting yesterday with many attendants, and actively discussed this important subject in some detail. The following report is to summarize the fruitful products we had in the EAMA-6 discussions and in past EAMA activities, and to propose a direction and some action items toward the bright future of astronomy in East Asia.
