An ultrasonic testing uses the directivity of the ultrasonic wave which propagates in one direction. The directivity is expressed as the relationship between the propagate direction and its sound pressure. The directivity of ultrasonic wave is related to determination of testing sensitivity, scanning pitch and defect location. This paper investigated the directivity of ultrasonic wave, which scattered from slit defect located in heat-affected zone (HAZ) in butt joint using visualization method. The directivity of shear waves scattered from slit defect were different according to probe direction (far defect, near defect) and probe position (forward movement, maximum echo position, backward movement). The difference of directivity of reflection wave was existed between 2 MHz and 4 MHz angle probes. In the case of 2 MHz angle probe, the directivity of reflection wave was appeared sharp form because of the relation wave length and defect size.

In an environment where all nodes move, the sensor node receives anchor node's position information within communication radius and modifies the received anchor node's position information by one's traveled distance and direction in saving in one's memory, where if there at least 3, one's position is determined by performing localization through trilateration. The proposed localization mechanisms have been simulated in the Matlab. In an environment where certain distance is maintained and nodes move towards the same direction, the probability for the sensor node to meet at least 3 anchor nodes with absolute coordinates within 1 hub range is remote. Even if the sensor node has estimated its position with at least 3 beacon information, the angle ${\theta}$ error of accelerator and digital compass will continuously apply by the passage of time in enlarging the error tolerance and its estimated position not being relied. Dead reckoning technology is used as a supplementary position tracking navigation technology in places where GPS doesn't operate, where one's position can be estimated by knowing the distance and direction the node has traveled with acceleration sensor and digital compass. The localization algorithm to be explained is a localization technique that uses Dead reckoning where all nodes are loaded with omnidirectional antenna, and assumes that one's traveling distance and direction can be known with accelerator and digital compass. The simulation results show that our scheme performed better than other mechanisms (e.g. MCL, DV-distance).

The results obtained are as follows; 1. The variation of the temperature in a vinyl house without heating system is similar to that of air temperature in a day. The difference of maximum temperature and minimum one in a day is 27$^{\circ}C$ which is two times greater than the daily difference of air temperature. 2. When the length of the duct is increased, the high temperature zone is built up in the direction of warm air discharge from the duct, and the low temperature zone is built up in the opposite direction of warm air discharge. But, in case of the duct length is short (0.05 L), the temperature distrubution in a vinyl house become uniform. It is concluded that the shorter length of the duct, the better the distribution of the temperature in a vinyl house is. 3. When the duct is installed at high position, the high temperature zone is built up in the upper zone of the vinyl house and the low temperature zone is built up in the lower zone. And when the position of the duct is low, the rate of temperature variation along the vertical direction become high, and the direct contact of warm air with the plant in the house is occured. It is concluded that the duct should be installed at the position of slightly higher than the plant height. 4. When the fuel consumption rate is fixed at the 101/hr, the lowest temperature warming rate in the vinyl house is 5$^{\circ}C$ without regard to the air temperature.

Hydroforming is a metal forming process that enables circular metal tubes to be formed in to the parts with the complex cross section along the curved axial direction. Recently this hydroforming process is largely used for the production of the automotive parts. This paper presents the results of tube bending and hydroforming simulations in cases of the varying weld line positions of the tube. Ten cases of prebending and hydroforming simulations are carried out to find the optiaml weld line position.

This paper describes a self-localization method for the mobile robot using panoramic view images. A panoramic view image has the information of location of the objects from the viewer robot and direction between the objects at a position. Among the sequence of panoramic view images, the target objects in the image like traffic signs, facade of a building, road signs, etc. locate in the real world so that robot´s position and direction deliver to localize from his view. With the previously captured panoramic images, the method calculates the distance and direction of the region of interest, corresponds the regions between the sequences, and identifies the location in the world. To obtain the region, vertical edge line segments

Hemisphere shapes were machined for different tool paths and machining conditions with ball endmill cutters. It was also found out how feedrate affect the precision of the machining and also tried to study the most suitable feedrate in specific cutting condition. Tool deflection, cutting forces and shape accuracy were measured according to the inclination position of the sculptured surface. As the decreasing of inclination position angle, the tool deflection was increased due to the decreased cutting speed when the cutting edge is approaching toward the center. Tool deflection when upward cutting IS obtained less than that of downward cutting and down-milling in upward cutting showed the least tool deflection for the sculptured surface. For down-milling, the cutting resistance of the side wall direction is larger than that of feed direction. It was found that the tool deflection is getting better as tool path is going to far from the center for convex surface.

Position control of the electro-hydraulic servo indexing system in a flexible forging machine was investigated Flexible forging machine forges an axial type workpiece in the radial direction as well as in the axial direction. The role of the indexing system is to rotate a workpiece fast and accurately to a desired position for continuous shaping. Since the inertia of a workpiece changes during each forging step, a control technique which is robust to inertia variation should be adopted to the position control of the workpiece. In this study, time delayed control technique is applied to the servo system. Time delayed control method does not depend on estimation of specific parameters. Rather, it depends on the direct estimation of a function representing the effect of uncertainties. Direct estimation is accomplished using time delay and the gathered information is used to cancel the unknown dynamics is accomplished using disturbances simultaneously. Experimental result show that the time delayed controller is robust to inertia variation of the load, and satisfactory performance on the sposition accuracy is obtained compared to the contentional feedback control.

In the mobile environment, according to the movement of the object, the query finds the nearest special object or place from object position. However, because query object moves continuously in the mobile environment, query demand changes according to the direction attribute of query object. Also, in the case of moving of query object and simply the minimum distance value of query result, sometimes we find the result against the query object direction. Especially, in most road condition, as user has to return after reaching U-turn area, user rather spends time and cost. Therefore, in order to solve those problems, in this paper we propose the nearest neighbor method considering moving object position and direction for mobile recommendation system.

This paper describes on a position detection method for the motors which have repetitive operations using the Algorithmic State Machine(ASM), one of the digital logic design methods. With analyses for the incremental encoder output patterns, state diagram and state table are constructed and a digital circuit which can detect the changing point of direction of motor rotation is designed. To verify the validity of the designed circuit, simulations for all cases in which the direction of motor rotation is changed, are performed. Simulation results show the designed digital circuit can detect the direction of motor rotation accurately for all cases.
A spatio-temporal vector channel model is introduced for the position location (PL) estimation problem for CDMA cellular system environment. Two common ways for the PL make use of the AOA (Angle Of Arrival) and TDOA (Time Difference Of Arrival) from a subscriber to the multiple sensors (base stations). In this paper, we applied the derived vector channel to simulate the multipath channel for the angle of the signal arrival in CDMA systems. Cross-correlation method is a good candidate among other direction finding algorithms available in literature, especially in wideband modulation as in the CDMA system. The PL estimation errors are evaluated for different channels, which are obtained as a parameter of scattering radius of the suggested model. We noted that the number of sensors (base-stations) are related to the PL errors in favor of the available data.
