  • Rural people of Sudan are endowed with a deep knowledge concerning the utilization of different tree species. However research on the local knowledge related to tree species utilization still lacks adequate attention. The study objectives were to identify the existing local knowledge related to the utilization of the tree species and the existing threats to the availability of the trees. A total of 300 respondents were selected randomly from Rashad district in Nuba Mountains in 2011. Semi-structured interview, direct observation, group discussion, preference ranking and direct matrix ranking were used to collect the data. The study results revealed that people of Nuba Mountains utilize different tree species for food, medicinal purposes, fodder, firewood, construction and cultural ceremonies. The study results also indicated that the availability of trees is negatively influenced by firewood collection, agricultural expansion, drought, overgrazing and charcoal production. The study concluded that local knowledge has crucial role in tree species utilization in Nuba Mountains. Further researches to document and substantiate the local knowledge on useful tree species are highly recommended.

  • The Josephson Plasma resonance in single crystalling Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 has been investigated at a microwave frequency of 35 GHz in a cavity resonator. A sharp resonance is observed in a perpendicular oscillating magnetic field. The former is independent of the sample dimension, shile the latter shift to higher field as the sample size L is reduced, and it disappears when L becomes smaller than the critical length. The longitudinal plasma mode is a Nambu-Goldston mode in a superconductor, the experimental distinction between the longitudinal and the transverse mode leads to the conclusion that the existence of the Nambu-Goldston mod as predicted by Anderson was experimentally confirmed by direct observation of the Josephson plasma resonance with longitudinal excitations. The finite gap found in Josephson plasma resonance also provides a direct proof of the Anderson-Higgs mechanism within the context of the spontaneously broken phase symmetry of the Gauge-field theory in a superconductor.

  • The purpose of this research is to observe the face types of types of haircut design that is the basis for the completion of a hair styling mainly with case of male college student. For the purpose of this, I carried out direct and indirect observation and measurement for faces of 293 male college student who attended universities in Busan, and measured face types which were classified by the group analysis preferred hair style in order to do actual hair cut design. The result of this research is as follow. This paper conducted the element analysis in regard to the direct and indirect items of face, and it pulled out 5 elements. As a result of group analysis with elements as independent variables, they are classified into4 types. For actual hair cut design, 4 types classified by group analysis and nearing models analyzed. This research bring accurate information classified face types.

  • A numerical analysis of the micro-discharge in an AC pplasma dispplay cell has been made using time-deppendent, 2-dimensional multi-fluid equations to understand the discharge pphysics of He-Xe discharge. The time deppendent distribution of the electron tempperature, densities of electrons, various ions and excited sppecies, and the effects fo the wall charge accumulated on the dielectric surface are obtained and comppared with the results of direct observation of time deppendent behavior of VUV and visible sppectra from single discharge cell observed using a gated, image intensified CCD to elucidate the discharge physics.
