양파 박피기 개발(I) (Development of An Onion Peeler (I) - Root cutting equiment -)

  • With a purpose to manufacture an onion peeler, the root cutting equipment of the onion could be attached to a prototype onion peeler was developed. Before the experiment, the distribution of the dimensions of the Korean native onion were measured. And some types of the blades to cut and remove the root of the onion were designed and such characteristics as feasible revolution, conveying speed, and power requirement were investigated. From the result of the test, the selected one among the various cutters was the wing type blade with the round blade to cut out the root and with the vertical blade to cut a circular line. The optimum operating conditions of the wing type blade were revealed the revolution with no load was at 630 rpm, and the conveying speed was 0.08 m/s. Under these conditions, the maximum torque was 5.25 kg·m and the power requirement was 33 W, respectively.

Fresh Produce Container Operated with a Routine of Hypobaric Application, CO2 Injection and Diffusion Tube Opening for Keeping Beneficial Modified Atmosphere

  • A concept of household container to create and keep the modified atmosphere (MA) beneficial for fresh produce mix was devised and tested under typical chilled storage conditions of 3℃. The container system containing mixed products is initialized by applying weak hypobaric condition (0.9 atm) and subsequently injecting CO2 gas at an appropriate low level (0.03 atm). The passive atmosphere modification by produce respiration is then induced to reach a target until gas diffusion tube of proper dimension starts to open. The design was made to attain quasi-steady state mass balance of O2, CO2 and N2 to maintain the desired MA through the storage. Interrupted opening for taking out or placing some products was to reinitialize the loop of control logic. The developed concept was tested by the container which held commodities of spinach, pak choi, oyster mushroom, peeled onion, strawberry and cut carrot. The target optimum MA of 11% O2 and 10% CO2 (0.11 and 0.10 atm, respectively) was set to avoid injurious range of O2 and CO2 concentrations for any commodities. The developed container system could work to reach and maintain beneficial MA of 0.10-0.12 atm O2 and 0.07-0.10 atm CO2 close to the target during the storage contributing to quality retention of products measured in weight loss, chlorophyll content of spinach, ascorbic acid content of pak choi, color of onion, texture of oyster mushroom, bacterial count of strawberry and carotenoids of carrot. The container system shows potential to improve current preservation practice of fresh produce mix on consumers' level.

광섬유를 이용한 광영상단층촬영기 제작에 관한 연구 (A Study on Optical Coherence Tomography System by Using the Optical Fiber)

  • 본 연구에서는 인체에 무해하며, 고분해능 측정과 저가격화 및 소형으로 제작이 가능한 광섬유를 이용한 광영상단층촬영기 제작에 관한 것이다. 시스템의 기본원리는 마이켈슨 간섭계를 이용한 것으로서 광섬유를 이용하여 간섭계를 구성하였다. 시스템의 구성으로는 광원은 분해능 및 측정범위를 고려하여 1,300(nm) 중심파장을 가지며 대역폭이 35(nm)인 상용제품의 SLD(Superluminersent diode)를 사용하였으며, 샘플내부의 영상을 검출하기 위한 간섭신호 검출방법은 기준거울이 선형적으로 이동하여 광경로를 일치하는 광지연선로를 구성하였다. 그리고 간섭계는 단일모드 광섬유를 이용하여 마이켈슨 간섭계를 구성하였으며, 스캐너는 시준기를 이용하여 샘플에 대한 초점을 고정하였으며, 스텝모터를 이용하여 샘플에 대한 횡단방향의 이동을 통해 샘플의 2차원 단층영상을 측정하도록 하였다. 수광부는 소신호인 간섭신호를 검출하기 위하여 감도가 뛰어나면 잡음특성이 우수한 800-1,700(nm) 측정범위의 광검출기를 사용하였다. 신호처리부에서 간섭신호의 포락선 신호만을 검출하기 위하여 증폭 및 필터링 하여 A/D 변환을 거친 후 영상검출 프로그램을 통해 실시간으로 단층영상을 나타내도록 하였다. 측정결과 분해능은 약 30($\mu\textrm{m}$)로서 이론식과 일치함을 확인하였으며, 샘플을 이용한 단층촬영에서 실시간으로 양파조직의 조직형태를 측정하였다.
