In this study, the effect of heat input on weld metal microstructure and the effects of dissimilar weld heat affected zone in quenched and tempered ASTM A517 on the stainless steel AISI 316L is investigated through the optimization of welding parameters. For this purpose, two welding techniques are used, tungsten-conventional gas and pulsed gas with weld wire ER 309MoL with Diameter 2.4 mm. Research showed that the grain size of the heat affected zone in pulsed welding is less compared with conventional welding; weld metal structure is fully austenitic, it has a finer structure in the pulsed method. Additionally, the growth of weld metal adjacent steel A517 is different from steel 316L. Further, investigation showed that the rate of dilution is less in the pulsed method and the impact energy is increased in each three regions of the weld metal and heat affected zones in the pulsed method; the fracture in the weld metal and heat affected zone of steel 316L is quite soft and it is semi-crispy in the heat affected zone of steel A517.
The effects of carbon dioxide addition to oxygen have been investigated with swirl-stabilized premixed methane flame in a laboratory-scale pre-mixed combustor. The methane fuel and oxydant mixture gas ($CO_2$ and $O_2$) were mixed in a pre-mixer and introduced to the combustor through different degrees of swirl vanes. The flame characteristics were examined for different amount of carbon dioxide addition to the methane fuel and different swirl strengths. The effects of carbon dioxide addition and swirl intensity on the combustion characteristics of pre-mixed methane flames were examined using chemiluminescence techniques to provide information about flow field. The results show that the flame area increases at upstream of reaction zone because of increase in recirculation flow for increase in swirl intensity. The flame area is also increased at the downstream zone by recirculation flow because of increase in swirl intensity which results in higher centrifugal force. The OH and CH radical intensity of reaction zone decrease with carbon dioxide addition because the carbon dioxide plays a role of dilution gas in the reaction zone.

The numerous investments have been introduced to design and assess mixing zone characteristics of wastewater discharges to the ocean. Specially It strive to meet water quality standard for persistent and bio-accumulative chemical contaminants at the point of discharge through continual improvement pollution prevention measures and other voluntary measures in the developed country. The goals that of this paper are to emphasize the regulatory mixing zone is defined as an allocated impact zone where the numeric water quality criteria may be exceeded as long as acutely toxic conditions are prevent. Furthermore, mixing zones be limited to an area or volume as small as practicable that with not interfere with the designated uses or the established community of aquatic life in the segment for which the uses are designated and the shape be a simple configuration that is easy to locate in the body of water and avoids impingement on biologically important areas and the shore hugging plumes should be avoided This results should be used with caution in evaluation the mixing zone characteristics of a discharge and only in conjunction with information from the effective marine outfall design as well as for the sound harbour design. Thus the numerical investigation using CORMIX has been performed to show the regulatory mixing zone in the near and far field of the marine outfall.

The concentration changes of discharged wastewater effluents due to ambient current flows and density stratifications in an outfall mixing zone have been investigated by using the outfall mixing zone analysis of Huang et al.[1996]. This analysis was applied to Masan sea outfall case and the concentration distributions of wastewater effluent discharges were simulated using three month period of current-meter data measured in the outfall site. Hourly concentration distributions of wastewater effluents were averaged for the period of 15 days which covers the flow conditions of the neap and the spring tidal currents in Masan Bay. The results show that the wastewater concentrations in the Masan outfall mixing zone were very low due to the higher dilution rates during the period of strong ambient currents and less density stratifications. The higher concentrations in the mixing zone were found in August because of strong density stratifications with low ambient currents. The mixing zone was extended to the west coast beach area because of major tidal current directions. This result can be used to explain the dynamical reasons for the depositional distribution of the contaminated sediments in Masan sea outfall area.
In this study, the effect of laser source($CO_2$ and Nd:YAG) on the microstructure and tensile properties of laser welded Al-Si coated boron steel(1.2mmt) was investigated with before and after hot-stamping. In case of as welds condition, fracture occurred in base metal unrelated to the laser source. It could be explained that tensile strength of fusion zone composed of martensite and bainite is higher than that of base metal that contains a lot of ferrite despite dilution of Al and Si from coating layer to fusion zone. In case of hot-stamping condition, the fracture occurred in fusion zone irrelevant to laser source and the tensile strength was lower than hot stamped base metal. In the $CO_2$ laser welds, $Fe_3$(Al,Si) formed near the bond line was transformed into ferrite during hot-stamping. Therefore tensile strength of bond line is lower than that of base metal and center of fusion zone and the fracture occurred in the bond line. On the other hand, in the Nd:YAG laser welds, the higher concentration of Al formed the ferrite in the fusion zone during hot-stamping treatment. Also, the thickness of centerline was thinner than that of base metal. Therefore, it is considered that fracture occurred in centerline of fusion zone due to effect of concentration stress, and it leaded to a lower tensile strength and elongation.

The combustion characteristics have been investigated to develop the 50 kW-class gas turbine combustor. The combustor design program was developed and applied to design this combustor. The combustion air which has the temperature of 45, 200, $300^{\circ}C$ were supplied to combustor for elucidating the effect of inlet air temperature on CO, NOx emissions and flame temperature. The exit temperature and NO were increased and CO was decreased with increasing inlet air temperature. Also, the effect of equivalence ratio was considered to verify the combustor performance. The emissions of CO and NO with inlet air temperature can be analyzed qualitatively by measuring the temperature inside the combustor. The combustion performance with fuel schedule was evaluated to get the informations of the starting and part loading process of gas turbine. The combustion was stable above the equivalence ratio of 0.18. The pattern factor which is the important parameter of combustor performance was satisfied with the design criterion. Consequently the combustor was proved to meet the performance goal required for the target gas turbine system.
The low NOx characteristics have been investigated to develop the combustor for micro turbine. The lean premixed combustion technology was applied to reduce the NOx emission. The test was conducted at the condition of high temperature and ambient pressure. The combustion air which has the temperature of $450\sim650K$ were supplied to the combustor through the air preheater. The temperature and emissions of NOx and CO were measured at the exit of combustor, The exit temperature and NOx were increased and CO was decreased with increasing inlet air temperature. The premixing chamber can be operated very lean condition of equivalence ratio around 0.35. The NOx was decreased with decreasing the equivalence ratio. The CO was decreased with decreasing the equivalence ratio, but the CO was increased with decreasing the equivalence ratio below 0.4. But, at the very lean condition of equivalence ratio below 0.35 both NOx and CO were increased because of the flame unstability. The NOx was decreased and CO was increased with increasing inlet air flowrate. This results can be used to determine the size of combustor. Consequently the performance of combustor shows the possibility of the application to the gas turbine system.
The spot weldability of dissimilar metal joints between stainless steels (AISI316) and interstitial free (IF) steels were investigated. This study was aimed to determine the spot welding parameters for a dissimilar metal joint and to evaluate the dissimilar metal joint's weldability, including its welding nugget shape, tensileshear strength, hardness, and microstructure. The fracture surface was investigated by using a Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The experimental results showed that the shape of nugget was asymmetric, in which the fusion zone of the STS316 sheet was larger due to the higher bulk-resistance. The microstructure of the fusion zone was fully martensite. In order to evaluate the microstructure further, dilution of stainless steels were calculated and imposed onto the Schaeffler diagram. The predicted microstructure from the Schaeffler diagram was martensite. In order to confirm the predicted microstructure, XRD measurements were carried out. The results showed that that initial weld nugget was composed of austenite and martensite.
This study for preparation of aluminum nitride (AlN) with high purity was carried out by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis method in two different systems, $Al-N_{2}$ and $Al-N_{2}$-AlN, with the change of nitrogen gas pressure and dilution factor. On the occasion of $Al-N_{2}$ system, unreacted aluminum was detected in the product in spite of high nitrogen pressure, 10 MPa, This may be caused by obstructing nitrogen gas flow to inner part of molten and agglomerate of aluminum, formed in pre-heating zone. In $Al-N_{2}$-AlN system, AlN with a purity of 95% or ever can be prepared in the condition of $f_{Dil}\geq0.5$, $P_{N_{2}}\geq$ 1 MPa, and the purity can be elevated to 98% over in the condition of $f_{Dil}$ = 0.7 and $P_{N_{2}}$ = 10 MPa.
