This study suggests that the application of split screen as visual media can attain the effect of diversity through providing rich information and accepting diverse contents as gorgeous aesthetics. Single images are analyzed as appropriate to a demanded concentration genre such as news and dramas, entertainment. In contrast, images with natural images and ads images those are more appropriate and analyzed as the genre of the split-screen which is highly efficiency to the contents and also highly efficiency to the spatial diversification. In introducing various genres of digital contents into split screen, the synergy of contents is induced by placement in consideration of the characteristics of split screen position. In order to increase the concentration of the split-screen image, using the left area and right area above it, can increase the effectiveness of the content.

We describe the contrast enhancement of images using an APL(Average Picture Level) in an AC-PDP. A CEC(Contrast Enhancement Curve) determined by the APL was applied to enhance the contrast of images depending on the dominant gray levels. The most effective advantage of the proposed method is that it is easier to adjust the dynamic ranges to be enhanced with good quality and implement in a hardware system. The simulation result shows that the proposed method enhanced the contrast of given images significantly and kept the original brightness except the specific area of them compared to the HE(Histogram Equalization).

By the explosive growth of IT technologies, mobile phones have embedded a lot of functions and everyone can use them with facility. But there are various cybercrimes as invasions of one's privacy or thefts of company's sensitive information using a built-in digital camera function in a mobile phone. In this paper, we propose a scheme for analyzing evidences by digital pictures on mobile phones. Therefore we analyze the features of digital pictures on mobile phones and make databases of characteristic patterns based on the vendor and the model of mobile phone. The proposed scheme will help to acquire digital evidences by providing a better decision of the vendor and/or the model of mobile phone by cybercrime suspects.

Even though digital video coding techniques have been developed very rapidly, rate controlling is still an unsolved problem. This paper presents a new scene adaptive video encoding scheme for MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video encoders. Degradation of picture quality at scene changes due to poor prediction of global complexity measure is addressed. The proposed scheme determines the picture types adaptively based on scene contents of each video frame. The effective placement of reference and inter-reference frames is studied at sudden scene changes and gradual scene changes respectively. Results show that the proposed scheme demonstrates a significant improvement in performance compared to TM5〔1〕.

오늘날 디지털 TV 기술이 컴퓨팅 기술과 융합되면서 디지털 TV가 단순히 디지털 TV 수신만이 아닌, 네트워킹 능력을 갖춘 가전기기로 등장하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 디지털 TV가 일반적으로 대화면인 특징을 활용하여 TV를 수신하면서 다수의 원격지 모니터링을 가능하게 하는 부가 기능을 개발하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 리모콘 인터페이스를 통해 동적 DNS 기반의 웹 사이트에서 원격지 모니터링 대상을 선택하고, 이들에 대한 모니터링 정보를 디지털 TV의 PIP(Picture-In-Picture) 화면으로 전송함으로써 디지털 TV의 부가가치를 제고하는 기술을 연구하였다.

Picture archiving and communications systems(PACS) for digital image distribution, archiving and transmission, represent the modern hospital. PACS is the medical image management system within a hospital, whereas teleradiology system is the medical image communication system between remote sites. PACS and teleradiology systems usually consists of mainly four parts such as image acquisition part, image storage and database part, Image communication network part, and image display workstation part. Among these components comprised In the PACS, workstations are the point of contact between a PACS and the radiologist or referring physician. Therefore, the acceptance of PACS is highly dependent on workstation functionality, performance and easy of use compared with the conventional film-based radiology. This paper describes overall configurations and some requirements of PACS and teleradiology.

Estimation and correction of color temperature of digital images are basis of white balance adjustment after image acquisition stage. White balance is one of the most important image processing techniques for subjective image quality enhancement. Correction of color temperature is applied for white balance adjustment or for changing the mood of a picture. A picture taken under the daylight can be changed to have a mood of sunset or cloudy day, for example. We evaluate color temperature transformation of high dynamic range images in linear and log domain, and we conclude that linear domain transformation shows better results.

Undesired reflection removal from an image captured through glass window is widely needed with the prevalence of camera. In this paper, we present and implement a reflection removal algorithm, which is specially designed for smart devices. Our implementation requires smart phone application to take two input pictures of the same target, one with flash light on and another with flash light off. Then, we find a flash spot in the picture, match the features to align the input pictures, transform the color space, and finally combine the pictures. As the result, we get a resulting image with removed reflection, achieving the visually pleasant.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the customer demand for design development of digital convergence furniture in the living space of the ubiquitous home. This study used the individual survey method and was collected from July 1 to 20, 2008. The frequency and percentage were used for data analysis by SPSS window's 12. The results of the study were as follows: The first, a lot of survey targets were 30-40 years old, university graduates, over 50,000,000 won in annual income and 30-40 pyung in house size. The second, what types of activity were carried out in the living room were acquisition of knowledge>entertainment activity>communication activity>household chores. The third, what types of furniture were used in the living room were A/V furniture>table>sofa>computer table>bookself. The forth, customers preferred to picture telephone service in sociality, home-theater service in entertainment and home appliances remote control service in information service. The fifth, the digital functions which can integrate with the living roon furniture, in the item for A/V furniture, was front door control function which recognizes visitors with the screen. In the item for table was function to search internet and for sofa was self purification function. Finally, the digital convergence furniture is not only for one activity but also for various types of activities that can comprehensively function to materialize the concept of comfortable furniture in the living space.
