  • The digital divide issue is re-emerging in step with the rapid progress of digital transformation. Recently, the discussion of the digital divide is expanding to the point that the difference in digital access and use competency deepens economic and social inequality and discrimination. Notably, the phenomenon of the exclusion and alienation of the elderly from society is a serious matter to be addressed. Accordingly, this research was conducted to provide practical help in minimizing the digital divide through its understanding among the elderly. To this end, both the accomplished capital accumulated and experienced in the course of life and their attitudes toward technology in relation to digital competence capital by the elderly were examined in three dimensions. This analysis was conducted using the results of the '2020 The Report on the Digital Divide'. The target group of the analysis comprised 653 seniors aged 65 and above. As a result of the analysis, digital competence capital among the elderly was affected by both various types of accomplished capital such as educational, income, social, and emotional capital and digital device use attitude. Based on this, this study proposed measures to bridge the digital divide among the elderly.

The results suggest to reexamine multicultural families rather than limiting to Immigrant women for digital poverty. The results were as follows. First, the current survey has been limited to the migrant women for information gap survey of married migrants. But, It is expected to increase immigrant men in the future. It should include migrant men in the marginalized target in terms of preparation for a multicultural society. Second, the current survey has been limited to the migrant women for information gap survey. But, It is expected to increase children of multicultural families. This information gap is likely to be linked to differences in education or future economic disparities for children of multicultural families. It should include children of multicultural families in the marginalized target in digital divide survey.

  • The ability to use ICT is now a prerequisite for living in the information age, and digital literacy, which can access and utilize various digital information such as online banking, shopping, news, and health care, is more important. It is increasing. Accordingly, the social inequality, or digital divide, related to accessing and accepting digital information and knowledge is also an important social issue. In particular, the digital divide by age is becoming a major issue, not only in terms of resolving social imbalances but also in resolving the structural problems of the economy in addition to the survival of the elderly. This study aims to find ways to resolve the digital gap of the elderly in terms of socioemotional selectivity theory and suggests the reasons for the elderly's less access to digital information acquisition and the implications for the solution.

  • The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has led to a widespread shift towards non-face-to-face/uncrewed services in various sectors of society. Despite this, research on the digital divide has focused predominantly on analyzing various factors, with the notable absence of studies addressing the digital divide. Therefore, study examined the current digital divide in the transportation sector through a survey-based approach. First, a nationwide survey was conducted among adult men and women to assess their digital device usage. Vulnerable groups sesceptible to digital disparities were identified based on factors such as age, education, and income. Second, comparative analysis was conducted to examine the usage patterns of mobile applications related to the transportation sector among the vulnerable and non-vulnerable groups using chi-squared test. These findings suggest that the vulnerable group exhibited lower awareness and preference for mobile applications, a significantly lower frequency of application usage than the non-vulnerable group. Finally, a comparison of the proficiency in utilizing transportation sector mobile applications was conducted, showing that the vulnerable group demonstrated a significantly lower level of proficiency across all aspects of application usage procedures compared to the non-vulnerable group. These survey results provide a valuable foundation for future policy formulation to reduce the digital divide in the transportation sector. By highlighting the current state of digital disparities, the research contributes to developing evidence-based strategies to enhance inclusivity and equal access to digital services in tjwtransportation.

However, nevertheless the development of In and more rapid increase of subscriber, a farming, finishing villages and an islands are being exist a sharp difference of digital divide compare with a big city because of geometrical, economical reasons. In this paper, to put empasis in an Islands that the alienation class of Information are many exist, relatively small opportunity of information access because of geometrical, economical reasons, 1 search a ICT for Information Communication Network and propose a plan for Solution of Digital Divide of an Islands.

This paper explored some cases of unmanned terminal and kiosk which has been quickly adopted to fastfood industry in South Korea and researched whether any inconvenience or trouble exists in the level of 'the poor' and 'the aged' or not at the time of 'touching' screen in unmanned store. Research design, data, and methodology -The authors examined a few previous studies in keywords of AmazonGo, kiosk, digital divide, information gap, deregulation, and analyzed some cases of 'unmanned terminal' defines restrictively as all kinds of unmanned device, terminal and equipment including kiosk regardless of any place and type. Results - Promotion strategy of the unhandy and retailers needs to offer 'expansion of education and learning', readiness for the law aspect, reform of kiosk industry and priority of sufficient budge and politic assistance by government side. • Although population of the elderly is increasing rapidly, the older adults are the least users of the Internet in Korea. Prior research suggests that older adults are physically and psychologically disadvantaged when using the Internet. With the existence of the digital divide over different age groups, the objectives of this study were to identify the current status of Internet usage of Korean adults and to suggest some alternatives for solving digital divide on Internet usage. A total of 654 Korean adults, including the elderly, participated in both on-line and off-line (on-site interview) surveys using structured questionnaires. The results of statistical analyses indicated that the gap between the percentages of Internet users in younger and older groups was significantly wide, though many older adults had strong interests of Internet. To reduce this gap on digital divide, with an appropriate help from family and government, several characteristics of the elderly should be considered in designing some age-related web sites. Some effective alternatives suggested in this study may be used as basic data for universal design of Internet-oriented software.

  • The objective of this paper is to use Geographical Information Systems for identifying Digital Divide in Riyadh Neighborhoods, Saudi Arabia. Geo-database was created that includes Streets, Neighborhoods, ICT Access Data and Coverage Map for Riyadh. We used QGIS and overlay for analysis, intersection selected as tool for this paper. The results indicate that after analyzing the use of information communication technology in all regions of the Kingdom it turns that Riyadh, Ash Sharqiyyah and Makkah in average with percentage 50%, While Al Jawf, Al Madinah, and Najran are the least with percentage 42%. Then we focused on Riyadh to analyze the digital divide because it is the capital of Saudi Arabia and occupations the highest percent of communications towers in the KSA due to population density. Regarding coverage of the 4G, the neighborhoods at the center have recorded very high coverage score. While neighborhoods at the edges of the city have low values of coverage score. Same for 3G, it is more intense in the center and the coverage percentage is higher than 4G. For 2G we found it had the highest coverage compared to 3G or 4G

  • This study aimed to analyze research trends of 'digital divide' in Library and Information Science. To this end, we coded research subjects with 11 subcategories, and research objectives with 4 subcategories, and research methods with 4 subcategories, and constructed keyword networks to which a pathfinder algorithm was applied. As a result of the analysis, 79.5% of studies are on the disabled, multicultural families, and the elderly among information vulnerable groups, and it was found to be concentrated in specific groups. In addition, digital divide related studies have been actively conducted for the purpose of resolving information vulnerabilities such as people with disabilities. We also found that these studies focused on verifying the effectiveness by designing and applying treatments such as informatization education, information utilization, and reading programs. Lastly, the most frequently used research method in the digital divide was found to use case studies or questionnaires simultaneously with literature research.
