The study subjects comprised 127 merchants and 128 consumers. Both the merchants and consumers tended to have a negative perception of future fashion traditional markets. Consumers tended to have a higher perception of fashion store service, such as A/S and salesperson's service, than merchants. In addition, there were significant differences in perceptions toward remodeling renovation of traditional markets between retail merchants and consumers. Based on these results, a fashion marketing strategy regarding digital network is suggested.

  • Today, digital shoppers express increasingly complex buying behavior. They can use multiple channels for shopping and also they can switch from one to another channel almost effortlessly, in the result of engaging in omnichannel shopping behavior. A few years ago, consumers were using brick and mortar stores to make their purchases. However, nowadays, they possess different digital devices (mobile and/or desktop) to search for different alternatives and to make a better shopping choice. These devices (mobile and desktop) are different and offer unique benefits to consumers. However, there has been very little research that has treated mobile and desktop devices separately. Perhaps this study is the pioneer when it comes to investigating the effect of regulatory focus (prevention vs. promotion) and chronotype (morning and evening person) on a sample of university students using desktop and mobile channels for their shopping. The findings from a sample of 312 digital consumers (mobile and/or desktop) confirmed that the desktop channel provides a greater fit for morning-type respondents and that the mobile channel offers better value for evening-type respondents in e-retail. Furthermore, promotion-focused shoppers favor the mobile channel, and prevention-focused shoppers favor the desktop channel. The new insights and contributions of this study provide a better understanding of digital consumers to help sellers to develop a more effective e-retail strategy.

  • This study predicted consumer approach/avoidance behavior through consumer emotional experiences and examined the moderating effect of perceived surprises in the context of digital signage in store environments. A self-administered questionnaire consisted of consumer emotional experience (e.g., pleasure, arousal, and dominance), approach-avoidance behavior and perceived surprise by digital signage. A total of 278 usable responses were obtained from consumers who experienced digital signage at fashion retail stores. The findings support the Mehrabian-Russell model in the context of digital signage. Approach behavior was predicted by pleasure and arousal emotional experience, while avoidance behavior was predicted by dominance. The moderating effect of perceived surprise was also indicated in the effect of emotional experience on approach or avoidance behavior. In the high level of perceived surprise, pleasure and arousal had significant effects on approach behavior, whereas dominance had significant effect on avoidance behavior. This study discussed theoretical and managerial implications for creating emotional experiences and developing strategic store management by utilizing new digital technology within the fashion retail environments.

  • Purpose: The concept of News-finds-me Perception (NFMP) is gaining increasing scholarly interest due to its wide-ranging findings and implications in digital communications and marketing. From the retail marketing and communication approaches, social media is an effective tool to effectively communicate and persuade customers and stakeholders. Nevertheless, a scarcity of systematic review studies that systematically assemble prior research in the field is recognized. Consequently, this research investigated the Scopus database for articles pertaining to NFMP. Research design, data and methodology: The search was conducted on August 24, 2023, retrieving 46 documents. Following a data-cleaning process, 31 documents remained, providing evidence of the subject area's five-year development. The data was refined with OpenRefine and analyzed with VosViewer. Results: An overview of the subject's expansion is presented, which comprises the most cited documents, authors, organizations, journals, and countries. Furthermore, the investigation examines the influential studies that furnished scientists with essential knowledge and identify the current research trend of the research subject. Conclusions: Based on the results, the study proposes theoretical and practical implications, encouraging academics to further integrate the concept with various communication and marketing theories, as well as the retail marketing context, to gain a better understanding of its complex impacts.

  • Despite the growing online exposure of retailes, offline retail channels still outperform online channels in the total retail volume of some countries. There is much interest in the physical layout plans of retail stores to expand sales. Product placement that have a large impact on customer purchasing behavior at offline retailers influences customer movement and sales volume. But in many cases, each retailer relies on unsystematic and autonomous product placement. When multiple products are sold with one purchase, the customer's movement for shopping may be evaluated in terms of customer efficiency and additional impulse purchase. In this paper, the social network is applied to sales data of a retail store and the result is used for evaluation of product placement and customer path. The frequent sales product composition was identified using k-core from sales data in the form of shopping baskets. The location was checked for the identified compositions of products, the spatial variance was measured and the customer's path was identified. With these results, the store arrangement of products was evaluated with appropriate improvement directions. The analysis method of this paper can be an alternative analysis approach for better layout of retail stores.

  • Digital Signage, a way of advertising or delivering information to viewers through digital displays, has expanded from being just an advertising channel in public places. Recently, it has become widely prevalent in restaurants and retail stores. Despite its wide expansion, digital signage is limited to specific usages and services and the devices it uses are also quite expensive. This study introduces a stick-type digital signage product that operates on Android OS, which addresses all the weaknesses of digital signage with much more reasonable pricing and stable operation. For stability, performance tests were executed on the hardware and applications. The results for hardware performance were extremely promising, as each scenario's maximum performance results, measured by Load Runner programs, reached target indexes. Also, as a result of the usability test, all participants, including non-digital signage system users (novices), were able to easily learn all the tasks. As a result of user satisfaction survey, positive responses were exhibited for ease of learning and usability (LEU), helpfulness and problem solving capabilities (HPSC), affective aspect and multimedia properties (AAMP), commands and minimal memory load (CMML), and control and efficiency (CE).

  • In the context of domestic consumption environment changes such as expansion of smartphones and increase of single-person households, hypermarket, which was the mainstream of the existing retail market, have recorded negative growth for the last three years due to declining sales. And it is not enough to analyze the influence relationship with other retail channels or investigate the cause of consumption movement. In this study, we analyzed the decline in the growth rate of hypermarket by demographic variables, consumption time, etc. And logistic regression analysis revealed the relationship between the decrease in consumption of hypermarket and the change in the proportion of sales of other retail channels. In addition, we surveyed consumers who have decreased consumption of hypermarket based on actual card consumption data to determine why they choose different retail channels. This is significant in that the result of quantitative analysis of changes in retail channel consumption and the result of qualitative reasoning converged to give a stereoscopic view of consumption.
