In this study global radiation and global illumination are directly measured and diffuse radiation and diffuse illumination measured utilizing semi-circular shadow ring. By analyzing measured radiation data, clear and overcast sky are classified according to the sky classification method used in Mantes, France. Measured illumination data are analyzed and 1) Clear sky illumination on a horizontal surface as a function of solar altitude. 2) Overcast sky illumination on a horizontal surface as a function of solar altitude, 3) Monthly variation of illumination. 4) Cumulative percentage of illumination, 5) Daylight intensity as a function of hours in a typical day, 6) Average number hours per day of illumination above 10 and 20klx are presented as a climatic data for daylighting design for Seoul, Korea.
Direct and diffuse components of solar radiation were measured inside and outside a single-span plastic greenhouse. To analyze the direct solar radiation inside the plastic greenhouse, the cross-section of the greenhouse was assumed to be circular. Then the direct solar radiation transmitted into the greenhouse was calculated theoretically, and compared with the experimental measurements. The results are summarized as follows: (1) The transmissivities of total solar radiation were about 65% on cloudy days and 50% on clear days. For cloudy days, the transmissivity of the total solar radiation was regarded as the transmissivity of sky diffuse radiation. (2) The ratio of the inside effective scattered component of direct solar radiation to the diffuse radiation was 60-65%. (3) It appeared that the seasonal variation of the transmissivity of total solar radiation was adversely affected by the transmissivity of direct solar radiation and the effective scattered coefficient. But the effect of the transmissivity of direct solar radiation was dominant factor. (4) Computer simulation showed that the inside direct solar radiation was decreased as the floor of the plastic greenhouse was higher. (5) The predicted value of the inside direct solar radiation was 3.3% to 29.0% higher than the measured value.
The interstellar dust grains are formed and supplied to interstellar space from asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars or supernova remnants, and become constituents of the star- and planet-formation processes that lead to the next generation of stars. Both a qualitative, and a compositional study of this cycle are essential to understanding the origin of the pre-solar grains, the missing sources of the interstellar material, and the chemical evolution of our Galaxy. The AKARI/MIR all-sky survey was performed with two mid-infrared photometric bands centered at 9 and $18{\mu}m$. These data have advantages in detecting carbonaceous and silicate circumstellar dust of AGB stars, and the interstellar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons separately from large grains of amorphous silicate. By using the AKARI/MIR All-Sky point source catalogue, we surveyed C-rich and O-rich AGB stars in our Galaxy, which are the dominant suppliers of carbonaceous and silicate grains, respectively. The C-rich stars are uniformly distributed across the Galactic disk, whereas O-rich stars are concentrated toward the Galactic center, following the metallicity gradient of the interstellar medium, and are presumably affected by the environment of their birth place. We will compare the distributions of the dust suppliers with the distributions of the interstellar grains themselves by using the AKARI/MIR All-Sky diffuse maps. To enable discussions on the faint diffuse interstellar radiation, we are developing an accurate AKARI/MIR All-Sky diffuse map by correcting artifacts such as the ionising radiation effects, scattered light from the moon, and stray light from bright sources.

Among the AKARI all-sky survey data, the $9{\mu}m$ diffuse map is crucial to study the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission features on large spatial scales, while the $18{\mu}m$ map is useful to trace hot dust emission. To utilize these advantages, we have improved the AKARI mid-infrared (MIR) all-sky survey diffuse maps. For example, we have established special methods to remove the effects of the ionizing radiation in the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) and of the scattered light from the moon. Using improved diffuse map data, we study the properties of PAHs and dust in the Galactic center region associated with high-energy phenomena.

Spectral solar irradiances were observed using a visible and UV Multi-Filter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer on the rooftop of the Science Building at Yonsei University, Seoul ($37.57^{\circ}N$, $126.98^{\circ}E$, 86 m) during one year period in 2006. 1-min measurements of global(total) and diffuse solar irradiances over the solar zenith angle (SZA) ranges from $20^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}$ were used to examine the effects of clouds and total optical depth (TOD) on enhancing four solar irradiance components (broadband 395-955 nm, UV channel 304.5 nm, visible channel 495.2 nm, and infrared channel 869.2 nm) together with the sky camera images for the assessment of cloud conditions at the time of each measurement. The obtained clear-sky irradiance measurements were used for empirical model of clear-sky irradiance with the cosine of the solar zenith angle (SZA) as an independent variable. These developed models produce continuous estimates of global and diffuse solar irradiances for clear sky. Then, the clear-sky irradiances are used to estimate the effects of clouds and TOD on the enhancement of surface solar irradiance as a difference between the measured and the estimated clear-sky values. It was found that the enhancements occur at TODs less than 1.0 (i.e. transmissivity greater than 37%) when solar disk was not obscured or obscured by optically thin clouds. Although the TOD is less than 1.0, the probability of the occurrence for the enhancements shows 50~65% depending on four different solar radiation components with the low UV irradiance. The cumulus types such as stratoculmus and altoculumus were found to produce localized enhancement of broadband global solar irradiance of up to 36.0% at TOD of 0.43 under overcast skies (cloud cover 90%) when direct solar beam was unobstructed through the broken clouds. However, those same type clouds were found to attenuate up to 80% of the incoming global solar irradiance at TOD of about 7.0. The maximum global UV enhancement was only 3.8% which is much lower than those of other three solar components because of the light scattering efficiency of cloud drops. It was shown that the most of the enhancements occurred under cloud cover from 40 to 90%. The broadband global enhancement greater than 20% occurred for SZAs ranging from 28 to $62^{\circ}$. The broadband diffuse irradiance has been increased up to 467.8% (TOD 0.34) by clouds. In the case of channel 869.0 nm, the maximum diffuse enhancement was 609.5%. Thus, it is required to measure irradiance for various cloud conditions in order to obtain climatological values, to trace the differences among cloud types, and to eventually estimate the influence on solar irradiance by cloud characteristics.
The value of Photovoltaic as an independent power supply is small, but the city's carbon emissions reduction and for the reduction of fossil fuel use distributed power is the power source to a very high value. However, according to the weather conditions for solar power generation by power fluctuations because of the size distribution to be effective, the big swing for effectively controlling real-time monitoring should be made. But that depends on solar power generation solar radiation forecasts from the National Weather Service does not need to predict it, and this study, the diffuse sky radiation in the history of the solar radiation in the darkness of the clouds, thick and weather forecasts can be inferred from the atmospheric transmittance to announce this value is calculated to represent each weather forecast solar radiation and solar radiation predicted by substituting the expression And the measured solar radiation and CRM (Cloud Cover Radiation Model) technique with an expression of Kasten and Czeplak irradiation when compared to the calculated predictions were verified.
In order to derive time dependence of the atmospheric diffuse light, which consists of the airglow continuum emission and diffusely scattered radiations of the intergrated starlight, the diffuse Galactic light, and the zodiacal light, we have analyzed the meridian scan observations of the sky brightness at $5,080\;{\AA}$ and $5,300\;{\AA}$. Amplitude of the time-variation becomes larger for lower elevation, and maximum amplitude is found to be about $50\;S_{10}(V)_{G2V}$ at elevation $10^{\circ}$. The atmospheric diffuse radiation attains maximum brightness at around midnight, and afterward it decreases slowly with time. The time-variations for the two wavelengths are similar to each other. The observed brightness distribution of the diffuse light along the zenith distance is fitted to an empirical relation of two parameters. By making the two parameters time-dependent, we describe the spatial and time variations of the atmospheric diffuse light. This enables us to make time dependent correction for the atmospheric diffuse component in the reduction of zodiacal light brightness.
In order to analyze the observational environment of solar radiation stations operated by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), we used the digital elevation model (DEM) and the solar radiation model to calculate a topographical shading, sky view factor (SVF) and solar radiation by surrounding terrain. The sky line and SVF were calculated using high resolution DEM around 25 km of the solar stations. We analyzed the topographic effect by analyzing overlapped solar map with sky line. Particularly, Incheon station has low SVF whereas Cheongsong and Chupungryong station have high SVF. In order to validation the contribution of topographic effect, the solar radiation calculated using GWNU solar radiation model according to the sky line and SVF under the same meteorological conditions. As a result, direct, diffuse and global solar radiation were decreased by 12.0, 5.6, and 4.7% compared to plane surface on Cheongsong station. The 6 stations were decreased amount of mean daily solar radiation to the annual solar radiation. Among 42 stations, eight stations were analyzed as the urgent transfer stations or moving equipment quickly and more than half of stations (24) were required to review the observational environment. Since the DEM data do not include artifacts and vegetation around the station, the stations need a detail survey of observational environment.
Pyranometer have many uncertainty factors (sensitivity function, thermal offset, other spectral effect, geometric, environment, and equipment etc.) than pyrheliometer. The solution for most of the uncertainty factors have been researched, but the problem for thermal offset is being continued research so far. Under the clear sky, due to the thermal offset of pyranometer, the diffuse and global radiation have been negative value for the nighttime and lower value for the daytime, respectively. In order to understand the uncertainty of the thermal offset effect, solar radiation are observed and analyzed using Ji and Tsay method and data from modified pyranometer. As a result of performing temperature correction using the modified pyranometer, the slope (dome factor; k) and intercept ($r_0$) from a linear regression method are 0.064 and $3.457g{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}k^{-1}$, respectively. And the solar radiation is decreased significantly due to the effect of thermal offset during nighttime. The solar radiation from modified pyranometer increased approximately 8% higher than its observed by general pyranometer during daytime. By the way, these results did not generalize because its result is for only single case in clear sky. Accordingly, it is to required for accurate results obtained by the various cases (clear, cloudy and rainy) with longterm observations.
The zodiacal light emission is the thermal emission from the interplanetary dust and the dominant diffuse radiation in the mid- to far-infrared wavelength region. Even in the far-infrared, the contribution of the zodiacal emission is not negligible at the region near the ecliptic plane. The AKARI far-infrared all-sky survey covered 97% of the whole sky in four photometric bands with band central wavelengths of 65, 90, 140, and $160{\mu}m$. AKARI detected the small-scale structure of the zodiacal dust cloud, such as the asteroidal dust bands and the circumsolar ring, in far-infrared wavelength region. Although the most part of the zodiacal light structure in the AKARI far-infrared all-sky image can be well reproduced with the DIRBE zodiacal light model, there are discrepancies in the small-scale structures. In particular, the intensity and the ecliptic latitude of the peak position of the asteroidal dust bands cannot be reproduced precisely with the DIRBE models. The AKARI observational data during more than one year has advantages over the 10-month DIRBE data in modeling the full-sky zodiacal dust cloud. The resulting small-scale zodiacal light structure template has been used to subtract the zodiacal light from the AKARI all-sky maps.
