This study predicts the average scores of top 150 PGA golf players on 132 PGA Tour tournaments (2013-2015) using data mining techniques and statistical analysis. This study also aims to predict the Top 10 and Top 25 best players in 4 different playoffs. Linear and nonlinear regression methods were used to predict average scores. Stepwise regression, all best subset, LASSO, ridge regression and principal component regression were used for the linear regression method. Tree, bagging, gradient boosting, neural network, random forests and KNN were used for nonlinear regression method. We found that the average score increases as fairway firmness or green height or average maximum wind speed increases. We also found that the average score decreases as the number of one-putts or scrambling variable or longest driving distance increases. All 11 different models have low prediction error when predicting the average scores of PGA Tournaments in 2015 which is not included in the training set. However, the performances of Bagging and Random Forest models are the best among all models and these two models have the highest prediction accuracy when predicting the Top 10 and Top 25 best players in 4 different playoffs.

Traction performance of a tractor varies depending on soil conditions. Sinkage and slip of the driving wheel for tractor frequently occur in a reclaimed land. The objective of this study was to develop a tractor suitable for a reclaimed land. Traction performance was evaluated according to soil conditions of reclaimed land and paddy field. Field experiments were conducted at two test sites (Fields A: paddy field; and Field B: reclaimed land). The tractor load measurement system was composed of an axle rotation speed sensor, a torque meter, a six-component load cell, GPS, and a DAQ (Data Acquisition System). Soil properties including soil texture, water content, cone index, and electrical conductivity (EC) were measured. Referring to previous researches, the tractor traveling speed was set to B3 (7.05 km/h), which was frequently used in ridge plow tillage. Soil moisture contents were 33.2% and 48.6% in fields A and B, respectively. Cone index was 2.1 times higher in field A than in field B. When working in the reclaimed land, slip ratios were about 10.5% and 33.1% for fields A and B, respectively. The engine load was used almost 100% of all tractors under the two field conditions. Traction powers were 31.9 kW and 24.2 kW for fields A and B, respectively. Tractive efficiencies were 83.3% and 54.4% for fields A and B, respectively. As soil moisture increased by 16.4%, the tractive efficiency was lowered by about 28.9%. Traction performance of tractor was significantly different according to soil conditions of fields A and B. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the traction performance of tractor for smooth operations in all soil conditions including a reclaimed land by reflecting data of this study.

Experimental study on characteristics of direct contact condensation of steam discharged into a sub-cooled water pool has been performed using five different sizes of horizontal nozzle over a wide range of steam mass fluxes and pool temperatures. Steam condensation phenomena have been observed visually and by taking pictures of steam jets using a high speed video camera. Two different steam jet shapes such as ellipsoidal shape and conical shape were typically observed for a stable steam jet, depending on the steam mass flux and pool temperature. The steam jet expansion ratio and the steam jet length as well as the condensation heat transfer coefficients were determined. The effect of steam mass flux, pool temperature, and nozzle diameter on these parameters were also discussed. Empirical correlations for the steam jet lengths and the condensation heat transfer coefficients as a function of steam mass flux and condensation driving potential were established. The axial and radial temperature distributions in steam jet and in surrounding water were measured. The effect of steam mass flux, pool temperature, and nozzle diameter were also discussed. The condensation regime map, which consists of six regimes such as chugging, transient chugging, condensation oscillation, stable condensation, bubble condensation oscillation, and intermittent oscillation condensation, were established. In addition, the dynamic pressures at the pool wall were measured. The close relation of dynamic pressure and steam condensation mode, which is also dependent on steam mass flux and pool temperature, was found.
Traffic engineers have developed and implemented various microscopic simulation models to verify the traffic performance and to prevent the expected problems. The existing microscopic simulation models categorize drivers into several types to reflect various drivers' driving patterns but miss the dynamics of drivers' behavior changed based upon the traffic conditions. It was found from the field data collected from two different merging sections on an urban freeway in Seoul, Korea, that the drivers' critical gap distributions are changed based on (1) the traffic density on the adjacent lane to the acceleration lane and (2) the opportunities left to merge in terms of distance to the end of acceleration lane. It was also found from the study that the drivers' critical gap distributions follow the Normal distribution. and its mean and variance change while a vehicle progresses on an acceleration lane. This paper proposes a new gap-acceptance model developed based on a set of drivers' critical gap distributions from each segment on the acceleration lanes. Through the comparison study between the field data and the results from the simulation utilizing the proposed model, it was verified that (1) the distribution of merging points on an acceleration lane to the adjacent main lane at different density levels, (2) the size of the gap accepted for merging and (3) the speed difference between the merging vehicle and the trailing vehicle at the time of merging are statistically identical to the field data at 95% confidence level.

Traffic broadcasting is using a usual traffic information announcement when giving its information to users on the road and for the provision of information useful to drivers, a clear criteria of how to judge with information from informers needs to be established from the perspective of users. In this study, to give some available criteria for current announcement which often causes confusion, cognitive characteristics were investigated and analyzed based on judgment criteria which are commonly felt by correspondents, participants in traffic broadcasting and drivers. The result requires the provision of information that is relied on an average speed where drivers feel little cognitive difference and found a classification where a smooth traffic flow is more than 60km/h, going slow 40~60km/h and congested state less than 40km/h respectively. And from the study of 35 traffic information announcement for different traffic situations, 8 cases of smooth state and 9 cases of congested state were clearly classified but the rest 18 cases of comment were ambiguously perceived by drivers and which requires the necessity of a announcement that uses directly the word of 'smooth', 'slow', and 'congestion' in the actual expression of slow driving. The future study should be focused on the establishment of more definite criteria by representation of nearly real traffic flow, provision of traffic information announcement and the analysis of cognitive response through car dynamic simulators and the kinds.

A full adders is an important component in applications of digital signal processors and microprocessors. Thus it is imperative to improve the power dissipation and operating speed for designing a full adder. We propose a new adder with modified version of conventional static CMOS and pass transistor logic. The carry-out generation circuit of the proposed full adder is different from the conventional XOR-XNOR structure. The output Cout of module III is generated from input A, B and Cin directly without passing through module I as in conventional structure. Thus output Cout is faster by reducing operation step. The proposed module III uses the static CMOS logic style, which results full-swing operation and good driving capability. The proposed 1bit full adder has the advantages over the conventional static CMOS, CPL, TGA, TFA, HPSC, 14T, and TSAC logic. The delay time is improved by 4.3% comparing to the best value known. PDP(power delay product) is improved by 9.8% comparing to the best value. Simulation has been carried out using a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS design rule for simulation purposes. The physical design has been verified using HSPICE.

KITECH and ODS performed a study of internal and external noise prediction of the KHST test train. The object of this study was 3 kind of cars; trailer car(TT2), motorized car(TM1) and power car(TP1) and the predicted noise was calculated for the two different driving speeds in free field and tunnel conditions. Data of carbody design and noise sources were delivered from each manufactures. Some of noise sources which were not available in project team, were chosen by experiences of ODS. Internal noise level of each car were predicted for two cases i.e, at 300 km/h and 350 km/h. In addition sound transmission path and dominant noise sources were also investigated of each section of car, which is circular shell typed part of whole carbody. In case of TT2, the dominating sound transmission path is floor in terms or structure-borne noise and air-borne noise. The main noise sources are structure-borne noise from the yaw-damper and air-borne noise from the wheel/rail contact, whereas the dominating sound transmission path of TM1 are floor and sidewall below the window in terms of structure-borne noise. The main noise sources of TM1 are structure-borne noise from motor/gear unit and the yaw-damper in the free field, and air-borne noise from the wheel/rail contact and structure-borne noise from motor/gear unit in the tunnel. Through the external noise prediction for the KHST test train formation, the noise form the wheel/rail contact is estimated as one of the major sources. In addition, the noise specification of sub-component was proposed for managing each sub-surpplier to reach the KHST noise requirement. The specification provide the sound power of machinery part and transmission loss of component of carbody structure. The predicted noise level in each case exceeded the required limit. Through this study, the noise characteristics of the test train were investigated by simulation, and then the actual test will be performed in near future. Both measured and calculated data will be compared and further work for noise reduction will be continued.

Lithium rechargeable batteries have been widely used as key power sources for portable devices for the last couple of decades. Their high energy density and power have allowed the proliferation of ever more complex portable devices such as cellular phones, laptops and PDA's. For larger scale applications, such as batteries in plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) or power tools, higher standards of the battery, especially in term of the rate (power) capability and energy density, are required. In PHEV, the materials in the rechargeable battery must be able to charge and discharge (power capability) with sufficient speed to take advantage of regenerative braking and give the desirable power to accelerate the car. The driving mileage of the electric car is simply a function of the energy density of the batteries. Since the successful launch of recent Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride)-based HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles) in the market, there has been intense demand for the high power-capable Li battery with higher energy density and reduced cost to make HEV vehicles more efficient and reduce emissions. However, current Li rechargeable battery technology has to improve significantly to meet the requirements for HEV applications not to mention PHEV. In an effort to design and develop an advanced electrode material with high power and energy for Li rechargeable batteries, we approached to this in two different length scales - Atomic and Nano engineering of materials. In the atomic design of electrode materials, we have combined theoretical investigation using ab initio calculations with experimental realization. Based on fundamental understanding on Li diffusion, polaronic conduction, operating potential, electronic structure and atomic bonding nature of electrode materials by theoretical calculations, we could identify and define the problems of existing electrode materials, suggest possible strategy and experimentally improve the electrochemical property. This approach often leads to a design of completely new compounds with new crystal structures. In this seminar, I will talk about two examples of electrode material study under this approach; $LiNi_{0.5}Mn_{0.5}O_2$ based layered materials and olivine based multi-component systems. In the other scale of approach; nano engineering; the morphology of electrode materials are controlled in nano scales to explore new electrochemical properties arising from the limited length scales and nano scale electrode architecture. Power, energy and cycle stability are demonstrated to be sensitively affected by electrode architecture in nano scales. This part of story will be only given summarized in the talk.
Purpose: This study was conducted to compare tillage and loads characteristics of three types of rotavators in farmland working condition of Korea. Methods: Tillage operations using three types of rotavators, i.e. rotary-type, crank-type and plow-type, were carried out in a dry field of Korea. The same prime mover tractor was used for driving three types of rotavators, and under several operational conditions, tillage characteristics such as actual working speed, rotavating depth, rotavating width, actual field capacity, flow of tilled soil, soil inversion ratio, and pulverizing ratio were measured. In addition, loads characteristics like torque and required power of Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft were calculated. Results: The average rotavating depth was smaller than the nominal value for all rotavators, and the difference was the greatest in the plow-type rotavator. Nevertheless, the plow-type rotavator showed the largest rotavating depth. The rotavating width was the same as the nominal value of all rotavators. The flow of tilled soil at the same operational conditions was the greatest in the plow-type rotavator and was the smallest in the rotary-type rotavator. In the most commonly used gear conditions of L2 and L3, the average soil pulverizing ratio was the greatest in the rotary-type rotavator, and followed by crank-type and plow-type rotavators in order. In the gear L2 and L3, the plow-type rotavator also had the lowest average soil inversion ratio while the rotary-type and crank-type rotavators had the same soil inversion ratio each other. The average torque and power of PTO shaft in the gear L2 and L3 were the highest in the plow-type rotavator. The load spectra of PTO shaft applying rain flow counting method and Smith-Waston-Topper equation to the measured torque showed that the modified torque amplitude was the greatest in the crank-type rotavator. This may come from the large torque fluctuation of crank-type rotavator during tillage operations. Conclusions: The three types of rotavators had different tillage and loads characteristics. The plow-type rotavator had the deepest rotavating depth, the smallest soil inversion ratio, the largest soil pulverizing ratio and required PTO power. Also, the crank-type rotavator showed a large torque fluctuation because of their unique operational mechanism. This study will help the farmers choose a suitable type of rotavator for effective tillage operations.

Cities are becoming more complex due to rapid industrialization and population growth in modern times. In particular, urban areas are rapidly changing due to housing site development, reconstruction, and demolition. Thus accurate road information is necessary for various purposes, such as High Definition Map for autonomous car driving. In the case of the Republic of Korea, accurate spatial information can be generated by making a map through the existing map production process. However, targeting a large area is limited due to time and money. Road, one of the map elements, is a hub and essential means of transportation that provides many different resources for human civilization. Therefore, it is essential to update road information accurately and quickly. This study uses Semantic Segmentation algorithms Such as LinkNet, D-LinkNet, and NL-LinkNet to extract roads from drone images and then apply hyperparameter optimization to models with the highest performance. As a result, the LinkNet model using pre-trained ResNet-34 as the encoder achieved 85.125 mIoU. Subsequent studies should focus on comparing the results of this study with those of studies using state-of-the-art object detection algorithms or semi-supervised learning-based Semantic Segmentation techniques. The results of this study can be applied to improve the speed of the existing map update process.
