한국 노인의 식사 섭취와 노쇠와의 연관성 연구: 2018년 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여 (Association between frailty and dietary intake amongst the Korean elderly: based on the 2018 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey)

  • 본 연구는 제7기 3차년도 (2018년) 국민건강영양조사 자료를 활용하여 65세 이상 노인의 노쇠에 따른 영양소와 식품섭취의 차이를 분석하고 식품섭취와 노쇠의 연관성을 분석하고자 하였다. 성별에 따른 노쇠 유병률은 남성은 9.7%, 여성은 21.9%로 여성의 비율이 유의적으로 높았다. 성별에 관계없이 남녀 노쇠군은 평균영양소 적정섭취비 (MAR)와 18가지 식품군에 대한 총 식품 섭취량이 유의하게 적었다. 식품 섭취수준에 따른 노쇠와의 연관성은 남성의 경우 과일류 (OR [95% CI] = 0.34 [0.13-0.93])의 상위 3삼분위 섭취군이 하위 1삼분위 섭취군에 비해 노쇠 위험이 유의하게 낮았다. 여성의 경우 어패류 (OR [95% CI] = 0.55 [0.30-0.99])의 상위 3삼분위 섭취군이 하위 1삼분위 섭취군에 비해 노쇠 위험이 유의하게 낮았다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 식이섭취와 노쇠와의 연관성을 분석하여 남성의 경우 과일류 섭취가, 여성의 경우 어패류 섭취가 낮은 노쇠 위험과 관련성이 있음을 제시하였다.

Reproductive Performance, Milk Composition, Blood Metabolites and Hormone Profiles of Lactating Sows Fed Diets with Different Cereal and Fat Sources

  • Different dietary cereal sources and fat types in the lactation diet were evaluated to investigate their effects on reproductive performance, milk composition, blood metabolites and hormones in multiparous sows. Twenty-four sows were randomly assigned to one of four treatments according to a 2${\times}$2 factorial arrangement of treatments. Each treatment had 6 replicates comprising 1 sow. Two cereal (corn or wheat) and two fat (tallow or soybean oil) sources were used to prepare iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous diets. Sows fed corn-based diets lost less body weight (p = 0.003) and backfat thickness (p = 0.034), consumed more feed (p = 0.032) and had shorter wean-to-estrus interval (p = 0.016) than sows fed wheat-based diets. Fewer piglets and lower body weight of piglets (p<0.05) at weaning were noted in sows fed wheat-based diets than in sows fed corn-based diets. However, no significant effects (p>0.05) of dietary fat source and its interaction with dietary cereal source on sow body condition and reproductive performance were observed during lactation. Feeding of a corn-based diet improved (p<0.05) sow milk total solid, protein and fat, increased blood urea nitrogen (p = 0.032) and triglyceride (p = 0.018), and decreased blood creatinine (p = 0.011) concentration at weaning when compared with sows fed wheatbased diets. Sows fed corn-based diets had higher concentration of insulin (p = 0.048) and LH (p<0.05) at weaning than sows fed wheatbased diets. The results indicate that feeding corn-based diets to lactating sows improved sow body condition and reproductive performance compared with wheat-based diets regardless of fat sources.

울산시 여고생의 건강상태, 식행동 및 영양섭취상태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Health Condition, eating Behavior and Nutritional Status of Girl's High School Students in Ulsan)

  • This research was carried out to investigate the health condition, eating behavior and nutritional status of female high school students. The survey was conducted from July 5 to July 18, 1996 with 524 first grade students(15 to 17 years old) of H girl's high school using the questionnaire method. The levels of depression and anxiety were measured by CED-S and Spielburger's STAI-S, respectively. In addition, nutrient intakes were estimated by Convenience Method. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The mean depression and anxiety scores of the subjects were 22.23 and 26.00, respectively. The proportion of subjects with normal weight(BM) was 72.1%. The perceived health condition of subjects was moderate and 15.1% of subjects were anemic. The subjectiv health symptoms were feeling drowsy, tired eyesight, getting tired easily, catching cold frequently and frequent headache. 2. The irregularity of breakfast was high in the subjects. The problems of the eating behavior were irregular meals, unbalanced diets, excessive meals, skipping meals and food prejudice. Forty-nine percent of subjects had good eating behaviors. 3. The mean energy intake of subjects was 1717Kcal. The proportion of energy derived from carbohydrates, proteins and fats were 62.70%, 13.89% and 23.42%, respectively. The subjects consumed 59.59g of protein, 13.07mg iron, 637.49mg calcium, 553.64 R.E. vitamin A, 0.94mg vitamin B1, 1.08mg vitamin B2, 15.15mg niacin and 49.59mg vitamin C, respectively. Except niacin, other nutrient intakes were less than the Korean recommended dietary allowances(RDA), especially, iron. 4. Mother's occupation, subject's pocket money and perceived health condition were negatively correlated with eating behavior, And the depression and anxiety of subjects showed wrong eating behaviors. The effects of socioeconomic variables, depression, anxiety and perceived health condition on the nutrient intake were different depending on the kind of nutrient. The nutrient intakes differed significantly among the group of different eating behavior. The eating behavior was significantly correlated with the nutrient intake.

아동의 치아우식증에 영향을 미치는 위험 요인 (Risk Factors Affecting Dental Caries in Children)

  • 본 연구는 2018년 아동 구강건강실태조사자료를 활용하여 아동의 치아우식증에 영향을 미치는 위험 요인을 알아보고자 시행하였다. 연구 대상은 만 12세 아동 20,235명을 대상으로 시행하였다. 조사항목으로 일반적인 특성, 치아우식 식이 행태, 구강 상태, 구강건강 관련 행태 요인을 조사하였다. 그 결과 성별, 지역, 경제수준, 주관적 구강건강 상태, 치아우식 식이 행태, 구강상태, 구강건강 관련 행태 모두 위험요인으로 나타났다. 특히 구강 상태는 치석, 치은 출혈, 치아 통증, 반점치 증상을 나타내는 학생에서 치아우식증 위험도가 더 높게 나타났다. 구강건강 관련 행태는 잇솔질 횟수 2회 이하, 치실과 손잡이 치실 미사용 학생에서 치아우식증 위험도가 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 치아우식증의 감수성이 가장 높은 아동을 대상으로 국가나 지역사회는 치아우식을 초기에 진단하여 관리할 수 있고 계속 구강건강관리를 위한 치아우식 관리사업체계를 구축함이 필요하다. 또한 아동·청소년기의 구강건강관리 습관을 개선시킬 수 있는 구강보건교육을 확대하고 치아우식증 예방 프로그램 개선 및 지역사회 활용의 구강보건정책의 체계가 필요하다.

Performance, hemato-biochemical indices and oxidative stress markers of broiler chicken fed phytogenic during heat stress condition

  • Thermal stress is a tremendous health predicament encountered by poultry farmers with adverse effects on the performance, product stature, health condition, survival, and overall welfare of poultry birds, and so requires urgent dietary user-friendly strategy to curb. This study was conducted with 200-day old broilers for the purpose of investigating the potential of phytogenics in refining the negative effects of heat stress on broiler chicken. Moringa, Phyllanthus and mistletoe leaves were processed as phytogenic supplements and incorporated into standard ration for broilers as treatments B1 (control), B2, B3 and B4 diet during the peak of thermal discomfort in humid tropics. Growth and carcass indices were monitored in a 49-day trial and blood samples were harvested at the end of the ordeal period to assess haematology, serum biochemical and oxidative stress markers with the use of standard procedures. The results obtained showed that the prevailing environmental condition in the study site indicated that the birds were exposed to heat stress. Birds fed on moringa and mistletoe supplements had higher performance index than birds without supplementation during heat stress condition, while birds fed on mistletoe supplement had the highest survival rate across the treatments. The liveweight, slaughter weight, dressed weight and eviscerated weight of heat stressed birds fed on moringa, phyllanthus and mistletoe supplements were significantly higher than birds on control treatment. Heterophyl/lymphocyte ratio of heat stressed birds without supplement were higher than birds on phytogenic supplements, with least values recorded in phyllanthus and mistletoe fed birds. Birds on phytogenic supplement tend to have lower cholesterol profile, lipid peroxidation and better antioxidant profile than birds on control treatment during heat stress conditions. Mistletoe supplementation in broiler ration enhances the survival rate, as well as promotes growth indices better among the phytogenic supplements. However, phytogenic supplements did ameliorate the negative effects of thermal discomfort on performance, physiological and oxidative stress in heat-stressed broiler chicken.

식이 중의 Coenzyme $Q_10$첨가가 Adriamycin을 투여한 흰쥐의 체내 지질과산화에 미치는 영향- 1. 지질과산화물 대사효소에 미치는 영향- (Effect of Dietary Coenzyme $Q_10$ on Lipid Peroxidation in Adriamycin-treated Rats - I. Effect on Lipid Peroxide Metabolizing Enzyme Activities-)

  • 식이 중에 첨가된 conzyme $Q_{10}$이 ADR을 투여한 횐쥐의 체내 지질과산화대사에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 두가지 실험을 실시하였다. 실험1에서는 basal diet로 적응시킨 후 바로 4주간 실험식이를 공급함과 동시에 ADR을 투여하였으나 실험2에서는 coenzyme $Q_{10}$이 미리 섭취된 상태하에서 지질과산화에 대한 영향을 관찰하고자 basal diet로 적응시킨 다음 4주간 실험식이만을 급여한 후 다시 4주간 실험1과 같은 방법으로 ADR투여와 실험식이 공급을 병행하였다. 실험군은 실험1과 2에서 모두 ADR 2수준 (1.Omg/kg B.W./week. 2.0mg/kg B.W./week)과 coenzyme $Q_{10}$ 3수준(무첨 가군, 0.1g/kg diet 및 0.5g/kg diet)에 의한 6개의 실험군과 basal diet만을 공급하는 대조군을 설정하였다. 본 실험에서 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 혈장과 심장 mitochondria내의 과산화지질 함량은 수준별 ADR 투여에 의해 유의적으로 증가되었고 coenzyme $Q_{10}$ 첨가에 의하여 이러한 경향은 조절되었다. 실험2에 있어서 심장 mitochondria의 과산화지질 함량은 coenzyme $Q_{10}$의 첨가에 의해 실험1에 비하여 그 감소효과가 더욱 증대되었다. 지질과산화 대사에 관여하는 효소 활성도의 변화를 조사하기 위하여 적혈구와 심장조직내에서의 glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase(SOD)와 catalase 활성도를 측정하였다. 실험1에서 GSH-Px 활성도는 적혈구 내에서는 차이가 없었고 고수준의 ADR을 투여 한 실험군의 심장조직에서만 coenzyme $Q_{10}$에 의해 유의적으로 증가되었으며, SOD 활성도 역시 적혈구에서는 별다른 변화가 관찰되지 않았고 심장조직 내에서 ADR투여로 증가되었으나 coenzyme $Q_{10}$의 급여로 그 활성도가 더욱 유도되었다. Catalase의 활성도는 심장조직 내에서는 변화가 없었고. 적혈구내에서 ADR투여로 그 활성도가 증가되었으나 coenzyme $Q_{10}$의 급여는 그 활성도의 유도효과를 나타내지 못하였다. 실험2의 적혈구내에서는 GSH-Px활성도가 고수준의 ADR의 투여에 의해 유의적으로 감소된 것을 제외하고는 별다른 변화를 나타내지 않았다. 심장조직의 효소활성도에 있어서는 GSH-Px의 경우, 고수준의 coenzyme $Q_{10}$의 급여에 의해 유의적으로 증가 되었으며 SOD활성도는 ADR 투여에 의해 증가되었으나 coenzyme $Q_{10}$의 공급에 의해 더욱 유도되었다. 그러나 catalase 활성도는 모든 처리군들 사이에서 차이를 나타내지 않았다. 이상의 결과로 미루어보아 ADR투여로 유발되는 심장의 손상은 생체내 지질과산화반응의 유도가 중요한 원인이 되고 이는 coenzyme $Q_{10}$ 급여에 의해 유의적인 억제효과를 나타낼 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

치어기 넙치 사료내 Seleno-yeast 수준에 따른 조직학적 변화 (Effects of dietary seleno-yeast levels on histological responses in juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus)

  • 본 실험은 치어기 넙치 사료 내 셀레노이스트 첨가에 따른 영향을 평가하기 위하여 조직학적반응을 살펴보았다. 사료 내 셀레늄은 각각 0ppm, 1ppm, 3ppm 및 5ppm의 총 4개 실험구로 설정하였으나 실험사료 분석을 통하여 사료내 셀레늄의 함량은 각각 0.56, 1.07, 2.86 및 4.56 mg Se/kg으로 나타났다. ($Se_{0.56}$, $Se_{1.07}$, $Se_{2.86}$, 및 $Se_{4.56}$). $Se_{1.07}$ 실험구의 신장에서 사구체의 혈구세포가 점진적인 팽창을 보여주고, 일부 세뇨관의 상피세포들의 파열도 나타나기 시작하였으며 대식세포도 점차적으로 커지는 것을 알 수 있었다. $Se_{0.56}$ 실험구의 간에서 정상적인 형태를 갖추고 있다. 농도가 증가될수록 모세 혈관 내 혈구의 팽창, 췌장 효소원 과립의 감소, 간세포의 팽창이 점진적으로 진행되는 볼 수 있었다. 그리고 $Se_{1.07}$ 실험구에서 일부 비정상적인 새판을 가지는 것으로 나타났으나 Se0.56 실험구와 크게 차이가 없는 것으로 관찰되었다. 이상의 세 기관의 조직학적 연구에서 치어기 넙치 사료내 첨가제로서 셀레노이스트의 적정 첨가량은 1.07 mg/kg 이하 수준이 적당한 것으로 사료된다.

임신부의 철분 보충제 사용과 임신결과 (The Use of Iron Supplements of Pregnant Women and Pregnancy Outcome)

  • It is known that Korean pregnant women take iron supplements at a higher than the recommended level. This study was designed to provide data on current iron intake levels both from food sources and supplement to better guide iron supplement use during pregnancy. We also explored associations of iron supplement intake levels with various sociocultural factors and pregnancy outcomes. Dietary intakes of 510 pregnant women were assessed by a validated 102-item food frequency questionnaire, and information on types and amounts of nutritional supplement intakes were also attained. While dietary intake levels of most nutrients exceeded the KDRIs (Korea Dietary Reference Intakes: EAR: Estimated Average Requirements), folate fell short of the KDRIs. A total of 428 women (83.9%) reported to take iron supplement. The pregnant women were divided into the three groups (group I: Fe supplement intake ${\le}$ EAR, group II: EAR < Fe supplement intake ${\le}$ 3 times of EAR, group III: 3 times of EAR < Fe supplement intake). The mean dietary intake of iron was 24% of the total iron intake for pregnant women. Iron intake from food was not significantly different among I, II, and III. In case of iron intake from supplements, the most frequent dose (34.1%) was 90-100 mg/day, and the mean iron supplement intake was 362% of the EAR. The study findings showed that those with higher levels of iron supplements had better meal quality measured by NAR (Nutrient Adequacy Ratio) and INQ (Index of Nutrient Quality). In addition iron supplement intake levels were significantly related to age (20s: 66.5 ${\pm}$ 38.6 mg/day, 30s: 77.3 ${\pm}$ 47.8 mg/day, p < 0.0116) and experience of childbirth (1st pregnancy: 70.9 ${\pm}$ 41.2 mg/day, 2nd pregnancy: 64.5 ${\pm}$ 39.5 mg/day, ${\ge}$ 3rd pregnancy: 94.4 ${\pm}$ 63.8 mg/day, p < 0.005). However, no significant difference was found between iron supplement intake levels and various pregnancy outcomes including birth weight, birth height, gestational age, weight gain during pregnancy, and jaundice. It is worrisome that iron intake by supplement use greatly exceeded the EAR, suggesting the need of appropriate guidelines for iron supplement intake during pregnancy. Thus iron overdose from supplements in pregnancy should be considered as a serious condition.

Evaluation of Dietary Supplementation of Delta-aminolevulinic Acid and Chito-oligosaccharide on Production Performance, Egg Quality and Hematological Characteristics in Laying Hens

  • The effects of delta-aminolevulinic acid (DALA) or chito-oligosaccharide (COS) in layer diets on production performance, egg quality and hematological characteristics were investigated in this 8-week trial. Two hundred and seventy 27-week-old (Hy-Line brown) layers were randomly assigned to 5 treatments with 9 replications per treatment. Dietary treatments were i) Control (basal diet); ii) DALA1 (basal diet+DALA 2 mg/kg); iii) DALA2 (basal diet+DALA 4 mg/kg); iv) COS1 (basal diet+COS 100 mg/kg) and v) COS2 (basal diet+COS 200 mg/kg). In this study, no significant difference was observed in feed intake and egg shell quality (eggshell breaking strength and egg shell thickness) among treatments. The inclusion of DALA increased egg production during the first 4 weeks. Egg weight was increased in both DALA (quadratic, p<0.05) and COS (linear, p<0.05) treatments compared with the control treatment. Laying hens fed the DALA treatment had an increased yolk color unit (quadratic, p<0.05) and haugh unit (linear, p<0.05) compared with the control group. Similarly, these characteristics were also affected by COS treatments, with both values being linearly increased (p<0.05) in COS treatments compared with the control treatment. Additionally, birds fed DALA treatments significantly increased (quadratic, p<0.05) the number of RBC, WBC and lymphocytes compared with the control treatment. Dietary DALA supplementation linearly increased (p<0.05) the serum iron concentration at the end of the 8th week. The inclusion of COS increased (linear, p<0.05) the concentration of RBC, WBC and lymphocytes compared with the control treatment. In conclusion, dietary DALA at the lower dosage (2 mg/kg) could exert better effects in laying hens than higher dosage (4 mg/kg). Birds fed DALA supplemented diet had an increased iron availability, egg weight, eggshell quality and immunity. Moreover, the inclusion of COS (200 mg/kg) can increase egg weight, eggshell quality and immunity in laying hens. Therefore, both the utilization of COS and DALA could be considered as a new strategy for optimizing egg quality and health condition of laying hens.

Regulatory Effects of Exercise and Dietary Intervention in Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase Signaling Pathways in Rats

  • As a central component of a novel protein kinase cascade, the activation of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascade has attracted considerable attention. We sought to determine the effect of exercise and diet on the activation of the extracellular-signal regulated protein kinase (ERK) 1/2 and the p38 MAP kinase pathways in rat soleus muscle. Forty-eight Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to one of two dietary conditions: high-carbohydrate (CHO) or high-fat (FAT). Animals having each dietary condition were further divided into one of three subgroups: a sedentary control group that did not exercise (NT), a group that performed 8 weeks of treadmill running and was sacrificed 48 h after their final treadmill run (CE), and a group that was sacrificed immediately after their final routine exercise training (AE). A high-fat diet did not have any significant effect on phosphorylated and total forms of ERK 1/2 or p38 MAP kinase. In chronically trained muscle that was taken 48 h after the last training, phosphorylated ERK 1/2 significantly increased only in the FAT but not in the CHO groups. In the case of total ERK 1/2, it increased significantly for both groups. In contrast, both phosphorylated and total forms of p38 MAP kinase decreased markedly compared to sedentary muscle. In muscle that was taken immediately after a last bout of exercise, phosphorylated ERK 1/2 increased in both groups but statistical significance was seen only in the CHO group. Total ERK 1/2 in acutely stimulated muscle increased only in the CHO-AE group even though the degree was much lower than the phosphorylated status. Muscle that was taken immediately after the routine training increased in phosphorylation status of p38 MAP kinase for both dietary conditions. However, statistical significance was seen only in the CHO group owing to a large variation with FAT. In conclusion, a high-fat diet per se did not have any notable effect versus a high-carbohydrate diet on MAP kinase pathways. However, when diet (either CHO or FAT) was combined with exercise and/or training, there was differentiated protein expression in MAP kinase pathways. This indicates MAP kinase pathways have diverse control mechanisms in slow-twitch fibers.
