  • 경유자동차에서 발생하는 입자상물질은 대기오염의 주범으로 인식되어 국내외적으로 이의 규제가 점점 강화되고 있다. 본 고에서는 전 호에 이어 이러한 입자상물질을 제거하기 위하여 가장 보편적으로 사용되는 필터인 세라믹 하니컴 필터에서의 기공 및 필터특성의 조절과 설계에 대하여 언급하였다. 또한 그 외 각종 필터, 즉 세라믹 화이버 캔들 필터, 세라믹 폼 필터, 세라믹 크로스 플로우 필터 그리고 금속 필터 등의 성능 및 제조방법을 정리하였다. 이와같이 후처리장치용 필터로는 수없이 많은 필터들이 개발되어 많은 실증시험을 거치고 있으나 이러한 필터의 본격적인 상용화를 위하여는 재료 측면에서의 보다 많은 연구, 개발이 뒤따라야 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Modern passenger cars with diesel engines are equipped with DOC(diesel oxidation catalyst) for the purpose of reducing HC and CO in the exhaust stream. Cold start exhaust emissions pose troubles here as on gasoline engine vehicles. As a result, some of the diesel passenger cars roll off todays the assembly lines with WCC(warm-up catalytic converter). Oxidation characteristics of the particulates in WCC is analyzed in this study by EEPS(engine exhaust particulate size spectrometer). The maximum number of PM is found to come out of WCC in sizes near 10nm when an HSDI diesel engine is operated under the conditions of high speed and medium to heavy load. When the temperature of the WCC exceeds $300^{\circ}C$, the number of PM smaller than 30 nm in diameter sharply increases upon passing through the WCC. Total mass of emitted PM gets reduced downstream of the WCC under low speed and light load conditions due to adsorption of PM onto the catalyst. Under conditions of high speed and medium to heavy load, the relatively large PM shrink or break into fine particles during oxidation process within the WCC, which results in more mass fraction of fine particles downstream of the WCC.

  • Diesel vehicle is growing in importance in light-duty sector as a way of reducing greenhouse gases due to improved fuel economy. Carbon monoxide, gas-phase hydrocarbon and organic fraction of diesel particulates can be oxidized to harmless products using a diesel warm-up catalyst (WCC). This study investigated the effect of a turbocharger and a baffle on flow fields and temperature distributions in the WCC for Diesel vehicles by a numerical analysis. In the case of the WCC with the turbocharger, velocity vectors and temperatures of inlet of the WCC have the relatively homogeneous distributions by the swirl generated from the turbocharger. Velocity vectors and temperatures of inlet of the WCC with the turbocharger and the baffle have the improved distributions in homogeneity compared with the case of the WCC without the baffle. The homogeneous flow field and the temperature distribution in the WCC may contribute to improve the conversion performance of the catalysts.

  • Traffic-related air pollutants and particulates from diesel exhaust cause for increasing respiratory health problem. Recent epidemiologic studies have reported adverse effects of urban air pollution on various aspects of respiratory health. Bus or truck terminal workers have high probability of exposure to diesel exhaust particle than general office worker. This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between pulmonary function of people who working at the high-density area of diesel vehicles and pulmonary function of people who working at general office in Seoul. So, this study explored the effects on people with exposure to diesel traffic or exposure to diesel traffic, through the pulmonary function test (PFT). There were significant difference in Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second ($FEV_1$) between high-exposure group and control. High-exposure to diesel particle were increased risk of reduction in pulmonary function in this study. These results provide the necessity additional research that manage people who working at the high-density area of diesel vehicles.

호흡성분진중의 중금속 오염도에 관한 조사연구 (A Study of Heavy Metal Pollutants in the Respirable Dust in Seoul Area)

  • The heavy metal of suspended particulates with human health has long been studied in environmental interest concerned. This study was intended to identify harmful heavy metals of the ambient air borne dusts which were related with the respirable sizes in the aerodynamics. Two sampling sites were selected comparatively; one was in the Shinchon area, which is the commercial district with heavy traffic and the other site was in the Bulgwang area which is residential area. The supended particulates were sampled by high volume air sample with 6 cascade impactor stages. The heavy metals in terms of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Se, V and Zn were determined by stomic absorption spectrometry or inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometry. The samples weretaken bimothly for seven consecutive days from May 1987 to March 1988. The annual average concentration of the respirable suspended dust of which diameter is less than 10$\mum$ was 152.59 $\mug/m^3$ of the Shinchon air samples; the respirable dust was equivalent to approximately 85% of the total suspended particulates. The annual average concentration of the respirable suspended dust of the Bulgwang air samples was 112.56 $\mug/m^3$; that was approximately 86% of the total suspended particulates. The concentration of heavy metals was investigated in relation to the particle size. The concentration of Cr, Fe, Mn and V were tended to be much more in the coarse particles than in the fine particles. Cd and Pb in the fine particles were more than in the coarse particles. In the partial correlation coefficients; in the Shinchon area, high correlations among Fe, Se and Mn were determined; it is assumed that those sources would be originated from coal, gasolineand diesel. In Bulgwang area, would be high correlation among Fe, Se, Hg and Mn considered to be originated from coal, Bunker-C and heavy oil as well. From the above results, the hazardous heavy merals in air should be measured and controlled in originally their sources.

  • 디젤 자동차는 가솔린 자동차에 비하여 연료소비효율이 높고, 경제성이 좋으며 고출력을 낼 수 있어 이에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있지만, 디젤엔진에서 배출되는 매연과 가스로 인한 오염도 심각한 수준에 달하였다. 엔진의 전자화, 고압분사기술등 여러 자동차 관련기술의 발달로 배출오염물질의 저감에 큰 발전을 이루어 왔으나, 계속적으로 강화되어지는 배출규제에 맞추기 위해서는 입자상 물질 후처리 장치의 개발이 가장 현실적인 대안으로 제기되고 있다. (중략)

  • The TIER-LII system was established and evaluated using carbon black for diesel particulate size measurement. It contains a new designed sensor head which makes it easier to be measured. Through LII signal analysis of some parameters, we can understand that there were few correlations observed in effect of temperature, shield gas flow rate, and mixture flow rate.. However, an amount of difference was observed in different size of particulates.

  • 친환경자동차의 보급 확대를 위한 정책수립과 기술개발이 지속적으로 이루어지고 있는 실정이나 아직까지도 내연기관이 차지하는 비중은 약 95% 차지하고 있다. 화석연료를 기반으로 하는 내연기관의 엄격한 배기가스규제를 충족시키기 위해 자동차와 선박용 후처리장치의 비중이 점차로 증가하고 있다. 디젤엔진은 이산화탄소 배출량이 적고 강력한 파워와 연료의 경제성을 가지고 있으며, 상용차뿐만 아니라 승용차에서도 시장의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 디젤 연료 특성으로 인하여 질소산화물은 국부적인 고온연소 영역에서 생성되며, 입자상물질은 확산연소 영역에서 생성된다. 희박한 LNT(질소산화물 흡장촉매)와 urea-SCR(선택적인촉매환원장치)는 디젤엔진에서 질소산화물을 저감시키기 위한 후처리장치로 개발되어져왔다. 이 연구는 가혹해지고 있는 배기가스 규제 대응을 위해 선택적인촉매환원장치의 촉매에 포함됨 조촉매의 영향을 파악하는 것이다. 망간-선택적인촉매환원장치의 질소산화물 저감 성능이 가장 우수하였으며, 망간 이온과 Zeolyst의 Al과의 이온교환이 잘 되었고, 활성화 에너지가 낮아 반응 속도가 빨라짐에 따라 질소산화물 저감 성능이 향상되었다. 7Cu-15Ba/78Zeolyst SCR 촉매의 질소산화물 저감 성능은 200도에서 32%, 500도에서 30%를 나타내며 가장 높은 성능을 나타내었고, 조촉매로 첨가된 산화바륨의 질소산화물의 흡장 물질이 Cu-SCR 촉매에 잘 분산되어 있고 Cu-SCR 촉매의 환원 반응과 더불어 산화바륨의 추가적인 질소산화물 저감 성능이 영향을 끼쳤기 때문이다. 7Cu-15Ba/Zeolyst SCR 촉매는 3종 촉매 중 열적 열화에서 내구성이 강하였다. 열적 열화에 따른 동종 성분 산화구리가 이동하여 응집되는데, 산화바륨이 주촉매 산화구리 입자의 응집을 감소시켰기 때문이다.

자동차에 의한 오염물질 배출계수 및 배출량 산출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Estimation of Emission Factors and Emission Rates for Motor Vehicles)

  • Exhaust emissions are calculated as a product of the emission factor and the vehicle kilometer traveled(VKT). The emission factor is a function of several parameters such as vehicle model year, vehicle mileage, traffic conditions, etc. The representative driving cycles classified as ten different types of an average vehicle speed were selected by analyzing passenger car driving patterns in Seoul. 51 vehicles were sampled and analyzed by types of vehicles, fuels used, model years and vehicle mileages also, exhaust emissions of them were measured by chassis dynamometer. Regression equations between average vehicle speeds and exhaust emissions are made for the estimation of emission factors at different vehicle speeds. Annual emission rates of air pollutants from motor vehicles in Korea were 1116$\times10^3 ton, 149\times10^3 ton, 413\times10^3 ton and 67\times10^3$ ton for CO, HC, NOx and particulats, respetively in 1990. It was found that 56% of CO and 49% of HC were originated from passenger cars and taxis, in addition, 87% of NOx and 100% of particulates were from buses and trucks using diesel fuels.
