DOC의 K-7 Mode에 의한 배기가스 저감에 관한 연구 (A Study on Exhaust Gas Reduction By K-7 Mode of DOC)

  • With the significant growth of the number of vehicles environmental problems is raised. NOx SOx, and PM emissions in diesel powered vehicles are larger than that in gasoline because the development of pollutants reduction techniques has not been yet achieved. So it is need to develop after-tratment or to convert into alternative fuel to satisfy emission regula-tion. Among the after-treatment systems to reduce the diesel emissions studies with diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) are done greatly. In this study using DOC reduction efficiency with the change of temperature and catalyst loading was calculated through measurements of CO, HC, PM. and SOX.

백금계 촉매상에서 산화질소(NO)의 산화반응속도에 관한 실험 및 모델링 연구 (An Experimental and Modeling Study on the Oxidation Kinetics of Nitric Oxide over Platinum-based Catalysts)

  • To improve the $NO_X$ conversion over a SCR (selective catalytic reduction) catalyst, the DOC (diesel oxidation catalyst) is usually placed upstream of the SCR catalyst to enhance the fast SCR reaction ($4NH_3+2NO+2NO_2{\rightarrow}4N_2+6H_2O$) using equimolar amounts of NO and $NO_2$. Here, a ratio of $NO_2/NO_X$ above 50% should be avoided, because the reaction with $NO_2$ only ($4NH_3+4NO+O_2{\rightarrow}4N_2+6H_2O$) is slower than the standard SCR reaction ($4NH_3+4NO+O_2{\rightarrow}4N_2+6H_2O$). In order to accurately predict the performance characteristics of SCR catalysts, it is therefore desired to develop a more simple and reliable mathematical and kinetic models on the oxidation kinetics of nitric oxide over a DOC. In the present work, the prediction accuracy and limit of three different chemical reaction kinetics models are presented to describe the chemicophysical characteristics and conversion performance of DOCs. Steady-state experiments with DOCs mounted on a light-duty four-cylinder 2.0-L turbocharged diesel engine then are performed, using an engine-dynamometer system to calibrate the kinetic parameters such as activation energies and preexponential factors of heterogeneous reactions. The reaction kinetics for NO oxidation over Pt-based catalysts is determined in conjunction with a transient one-dimensional (1D) heterogeneous plug flow reactor (PFR) model with diesel exhaust gas temperatures in the range of 115~$525^{\circ}C$ and space velocities in the range of $(0.4{\sim}6.5){\times}10^5\;h^{-1}$.

산화촉매를 장착한 대형 CNG 엔진의 나노입자 배출특성 (Nanoparticles Emission Characteristics of Heavy-Duty CNG Engine with Oxidation Catalyst)

  • Natural gas has been considered one of the most promising alternative fuels for transportation because of its abundance as well as its ability to reduce regulated pollutants. We measured emission characteristics of nanoparticles from lean burn H/D(Heavy-Duty) CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) engine equipped with oxidation catalysts. The experiments were carried out to measure the emission and engine performance according to the ESC test cycle. The CO and THC conversion efficiencies on the best catalyst in the ESC test cycle achieved about 91 % and 83 %, respectively. From the measurement by the SMPS, the number of nanoparticles emitted from H/D CNG engine is reduced by about 99 % which is more than that of 2.5 L diesel engine. The particle number concentrations of H/D CNG engine were almost nanoparticles. Nanoparticles smaller than 30 nm emitted from the H/D CNG engine and diesel engine equipped with a CDPF(Catalyzed Diesel Particulate Filter) were quite similar. However, the particles bigger than 30nm from the CNG engine were smaller than the particles from diesel engine equipped with a CDPF. The higher the CNG engine load, the lower the particle number from engine-out, but it increased slightly at full load.

  • Diesel particulate matter is known to be one of the major harmful emissions produced by diesel engines. Diesel particulates are subject to diesel emission regulations and have lately become the focus in the diesel emission control technology. Thus, the aftertreatment system is adopted at the diesel engine exhaust to reduce the particulate emission. Although this benefit is recognized, it is not clear how the aftertreatment system influences quantitatively the particle size distribution distribution. In this study, the particle size distributions of diesel exhaust were measured using the scanning mobility particle sizer with and without the aftertreatment system. There results showed that the diesel particulate filter and plasm system reduced the number of emitted particles by more than 90% and about 80% respectivley in the particle size range of 20nm∼600nm. On the other hand no significant effect of the diesel oxidation catalyst on the particle number concentration was detected.

  • Recently, as people pay attention to the environmental pollution, the emission of diesel engine has become a serious problem. Diesel Oxidation Catalysts(DOC) were experimentally investigated for the purification of pollutants exhaust emission from the diesel engine. In this study, the conversion efficiency of exhaust gas was investigated with various washcoat materials of the DOC. It was formed that CO conversion efficiency depended on temperature, but THC conversion was dominated by temperature and space velocity. Conversion efficiency of THC and CO increased with the addition of ZSM-5 in the washcoat, whereas these conversion efficiency decreased by adding Nd and Ba additives. $V_2O_5$ additive had the thermal stability for high temperature. Thermal durability of the catalyst was improved as increase of $V_2O_5$ additive.

  • Automobile industry has been developed rapidly as a key manufacturing industry in Korea. Meanwhile, air pollution is getting worse noticeably than ever. In the diesel emission, PM (Particulate Matter) and NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) have been exhausted with a great amount and the corresponding emission regulations are getting stringent. In order to develop low emission engines, it is necessary to research on better qualified fuels. Sulfur contained in fuel is transformed to sulfur compound by DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) and then it causes to the increase of sulfate-laden PM on the surface of catalyst. In this research, ULSD (Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel) is used as a fuel and some experimental results are investigated. ULSD can reduce not only PM but also gas materials because cetane value, flash point, distillation 90%, pour point and viscosity are improved in the process of desulfurization. However, excessively reduced sulfur may cause to decease lubricity of fuel and engine performance in fuel injection system. Therefore, it requires only modest adjusted amount of sulfur can improve engine performance and DOC, as well as decrease of emission.

국내 제작된 대형 디젤산화촉매의 배출가스 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of Domestic -made DOC for the Heavy-duty Diesel Engine)

  • In recent years, environmental damage to urban area becomes serious problem due to the exhaust emissions by increasing the number of vehicle . Especially, diesel particulate matters(DPM) are hazardous air pollutant s to human health and environment. The reduction technologies of exhaust emissions from diesel engines are improvement of engine combustion, fuel quality and development of diesel exhaust aftertreatment. In this study, a diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) that is one of diesel exhaust aftertreatments was made for performance evaluation . It was tested for NA and turbocharged engine by D-13 mode that currently be used for regulation driving test mode in Korea Scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS) was used for the analysis of the particle size distribution with and w/o DOC. As the results , for NA and tubochartged engine, CO, THC, DPM was respectively reduced 85.7, 40.7,3.3% and 79.1, 53.1, 11.6% by DOC. Test results of particle size distribution was showed that particle number is 107 ~108per ㎤ , 2 $\times$105 ~5$\times$105$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ for weight concentration and 100~200nm for particle mean size in diesel engine and there is no effect to reduce the particle concentration by the DOC.

  • Diesel PM can be controlled using Diesel Particulate Filter, which can effectively reduce the level of soot emissions to ambient background levels. In the Heavy Duty Diesel area, the Continuously Regeneration trap has been widely applied in the retrofit market. As the Special act for the improvement of air quality in the capital area, the retrofit program for DPF to used diesel vehicle has progressed favorably and there are currently over 1,000 of these DPF in use in retrofit applications in korea. These DPF comprise a specially formulated Diesel Oxidation Catalyst upstream of a DPF. The $NO_2$ generated by the DOC is used to combust the carbon collected in the DPF at low temperature. To certificate DPF device that is suitable to domestic circumstances, it is necessary to evaluate exactly the DPF devices according to the regulation of DPF certificate test procedure for retrofit(ministry of environment(MOE) announcement NO. 2005-16). To do so the understand of that regulation like the standard of PM reduction rate is needed. In this study the test procedure including test cycle and BPT test condition was examined and also the test result for specific DPF was analyzed. In every test like field test, PM reduction efficiency test and seoul-10 mode test, no defect could be showed.

SOx저감을 위한 DOC에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on SOx Reduction in Diesel Engine)

  • Recently, air pollution is increased according to increase of vehicle. So many countries are studying about DOC for diesel emission decrease. However, there are many difficulty in applying to DOC . In this study, SOx exhaust gas equipped with DOC was studied and we obtained several test results as following. First, in diesel oxidation catalyst, additives such as Pt is very effective for 503 and sulfate. Second, the oxidative activity for 502 has decreased to add such as Pt and the decrease of 502 is effect for the reduction of PM in high temperature . And finally, in high temperature, concentration of SOx is increased and temperature is affected by process from SOB to 503, whereas engine performance and fuel consumption are not affected by equipped DOC.

  • 최근 선진국을 중심으로 고연비-저배출 내연기관 (디젤) 자동차 보급의 필요성이 대두되면서 기존 촉매후처리 장치의 저온성능 강화를 위한 기술적 방안들이 시급히 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 디젤엔진 배출 탄소입자상 물질의 연소반응에 있어 연료함유 촉매(Fuel-Borne Catalyst)와 페로브스카이트(Perovskite)의 복합촉매 시스템이 보이는 상용모델촉매 대비 우수한 저온 연소성능과 이의 Perovskite 촉매 조성에 대한 의존성에 관해 논하였다. Fe/Ce 계열 연료함유 촉매가 A-site 원소(La)에 K이 부분치환되고, B-site 금속이 Fe인 Perovskite 촉매와 복합화될 때 상대적으로 우수한 저온 연소성능 개선효과가 관찰되었다. 이를 관찰하기 위해 연료함유 촉매가 함유되거나 함유하지 않은 탄소 입자상 물질과 다양한 조성의 La 계열 Perovskite 촉매를 혼합한 고정층에 대한 온도상승 산화반응 실험(Temperature-Programmed Oxidation)을 수행하였으며, 이산화탄소 생성과 질소산화물 농도 저하 패턴의 연동특성을 통해 두 촉매의 상호 연계작용을 유추하였다.
