역극성시 금속수지복합체와 세라믹수지복합체의 형상방전가공 특성

  • Conductive Ceramic Matrix Composite(CMC) of TIC/Al2O3 and Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) of SiC/Al were experienced by the die sinking Electrical Discharge Machining(EDM) for different current and duty factor according to negative polarity. Inthis experimental study Material Removal Rate(MRR) maximum surface roughness four point bending stress distribution and Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) Photographs were analysed. the higher MRR was obtained for CMC than MMC but slowly decreased around duty factor of 0.67 for MMC and better surface morphology was found CMC than MMC. The SEM photographs of discharge traces for CMC showe uniform shape about 100 to 200${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameter but MMC showed irregular shape.

  • Die sinking Electrical Discharge Machining(EDM) of TiC/Al$_2$O$_3$Ceramic Matrix Composite(CMC) was conducted for positive and negative polarity according to the change of current and Duty Factor(DF). Also FEM analysis about temperature distribution of workpiece by one spark was executed. Maximum surface roughness( R$_{max}$ ) and SEM photographs of the EDMed surface for different conditions were evaluated. Higher Material Removal Rate(MRR) was obtained for negative polarity than positive one. Better surface morphology was found as the current is decreased, but the MRR was also decreased. From the SEM photographs, the size of melt cavity due to one spark is about 100 to 150${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameterer

  • In this study, work materials of the ree form surface shape was machined by ball end mill cutter according to the change of cutting location and depth, and the acquired data of cutting force, tool deflection and shape accuracy were analyzed. Cutting force results were obtained with tool dynamometer and tool deflection values were measured by a couple of eddy-current sensors. Shape accuracy was obtained by roundness tester and surface profile measuring machine. As inclination angle was decreased, cutting force was increased. Cutting force showed large value at $105^{\circ}$ and $150^{\circ}$. Tool deflection was less at down milling than at up milling, decreased at 45$^{\circ}$ and 120$^{\circ}$, and shown large tool deflection at $150^{\circ}$. Roughness values were found to be bad in the inside of surface shape tool deflection. Surface accuracy was obtained better precision in down milling than in up milling.

  • This paper works on the manufacture and performance evaluation of bi-polar power supplied diesinking electrical discharge machine. The design and implementation of diesinking electrical discharge machine consists of two parts which are a polarity voltage controller design and a servo motor controller design and they are verified and manufactured through simulation. The performance of the implemented machine and conventional one were evaluated by comparing its machining speed and roughness of machined surface. Eventually, the designed machine showed improved performance in the speed and the roughness.

Improvement of Surface Morphology by Precision Particle Process for Cold Die Steel Alloy (냉간금형용 합금강의 정밀입자가공에 의한 표면정밀도 향상)

  • Experimental study was conducted for lapping process after WEDMed specimen. In order to decide the lapping depth of the specimen, the number of the grain size was increased from 400, 600 to 800 to obtain the better surface. Observation of scanning electron microscope, hardness test, surface roughness test and energy dispersive spectrum(EDS) analysis were used for this experimental study. From the comparison and analyses of the results of between the wire-cut electrical discharge machining and the lapping, the following results were obtained. The surface roughness after lapping was found to be improved as increasing the number of lapping process like 1st, 2nd, 3rd lapping and the number of grain size such as 400, 600, 800. The surface hardness after increasing the lapping depth of the specimen was slowly increased. It was found that after 3rd lapping process the hardness was reached the hardness of original base material. It was found that the small amount of coating components within 3% was remained after the 1st lapping process, compared to that approximately 16% after WEDM process.

냉간성형 금형용강(STD2)의 방전가공면 성상에 관한 연구

  • 각종 금형 중 사출금형과 프레스 금형이 전체의 80~90%를 차지하고 있으며, 이들 금형을 가공할 때 방전가공이 주로 이용되되 있다. 금형재료 중에서 합금공구강(STD 11)은 열처리하였을 때 경도가 매우 커서 프레스 금형의 다이오와 펀치 등에 널리 사용되고 있다. 이것은 Wire-EDM 이나 Die Sinking EMD으로 가공하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서 프레스 금형의 다이와 펀치 등에 널리 사용되는 열처리된 STD11을 사용하여 가공 제특성에 영향을 주는 가공조건, 즉 방전전류펄스폭 및 방전전류파 고치를 변화시켜 이에 따른 공작물 가공량, 전극소모비, 표면조도, 가공단면의 열변질층 및 경도 변화 등 방전가공비의 성상을 조사하여 STD11의 최적의 방전가공조건을 찾고자 하는 것을 목적으로 하였다.
