액체호닝에 의한 금형 자동 사상기계개발 및 가공 특성 (Polishing Characteristics and Development of Automatic Die Polishing Machine by Liquid Honing)

  • The automatic die polishing machine by liquid honing has been developed and experimented on the surface of machined die. The goal of development in the automatic die polishing machine by liquid honing is to increase the accuracy and the productivity in die polishing. To reach this goal, the polishing machine consists of the automatic measuring device for contour of die, the nozzle and pumping system to spray the powder mixed with liquid, and the 3-axis guides. Before polishing, the measuring device with a semiconductor laser scans the surface of mould to get the data of contour. The data store a PC and use to control the nozzle head to move above a couple of centimeters on the machined surface of die. The experimental parameters are the spraying time, the pressure, the size of abrasive grain and the mixing ratio between abrasive grain and liquid. The surface roughness is measured on the polished die which are SKDl 1 and Al7075 machined by NC. The surface roughness indicates the values of Rmax 0.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for Al7075 and Rmax 1.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for SKDl 1. It reduces the polishing time significantly and reduces the monotonous work for labors. As the results, the liquid honing system is useful method to apply for the die polishing and the automatic die polishing machine using liquid honing shows that it's very effective processing ability.

열간단조시 금형과 소재간 계면열전달계수에 관한 연구 (A Study of Interface Heat Transfer Coefficient Between Die and Workpiece for Hot Forging)

  • The temperature difference between die and workpiece has been frequently caused to various surface defects. The distribution and change for the temperature of forged part should be analyzed to prevent the generation of various defects related with the temperature. The surface temperature changes were affected with the interface heat transfer coefficient. Therefore, the coefficient is necessary to predict the temperature changes of die and workpiece. In this study, the experimental and FE analysis were performed to evaluate the coefficient with a function of pressure, temperature, material, and etc. The closed die upsetting was used to measure the coefficient on pressure over the flow stress. AISI1045, A16061, and Cu-OFHC were used to analyze the effect of material. The coefficient was increased with step-up of pressure between die and workpiece. And, A16061 was larger than that of the AISI1045 and Cu-OFHC up to the five times.

  • Cold forging technology of a gear product is being interested in the dimensional accuracy, high stiffness and reduction of stress concentration. Especially it is needed to avoid the damage due to extremely high local pressure. Therefore it is important to ensure high pressure in die design. In this study, single die insert type and splitted die insert type are considered to recognize the notch effects in the die of sprocket forming. The stress concentration has been released at the notch area by the cushion effect in the splitted die insert.

  • Porthole die extrusion has a great advantage in the forming of hollow section tubes difficult to produce by conventional extrusion with a mandrel on the stem. Because of the complicated structure of die assembly, extrusion process as a forming of hollow section tubes has been investigated experimentally Therefore, analytic approaches that are useful in profitable die design and in the improvement of productivity are inevitably demanded Welding strength is affected by many parameters, which are such as extrusion ratio, extrusion speed, die shape, porthole number, bearing length, billet temperature and mandrel shape. In this paper, the parameters, which are such as billet temperature, bearing length and tube thickness, are examined. The welding pressures are examined through 3D simulation of non steady state and compared with experimental results.

  • We investigated the mechanism how the high green density can be provided during die lubricated warm compaction (WD). We observed and analyzed the densification processes of iron powders including different contents of an inner lubricant, and measured the lateral pressure at the die wall during WD in comparison with conventional compaction and warm compaction. As a result, the high density in WD was due to not only the particles-deformation enhanced by warming powders but also the particles-rearrangement promoted by reducing an amount of the inner lubricant rather than the die lubrication.

  • This study was aimed at the design of the dies for the automobile part for the engine oil leakage prevention using the computer simulation to shorten the period of production, on the basis of the process planning which was designed by the field experts. In the computer simulation,'eesy-2-form' of 2D FEM simulation package and 'eesy-DieOpt' have been used, which are the commercial process analysis and die design program. Through the simulation of 'eesy-2-form', we could know the propriety of the forming process, the inner pressure of the die and the suitable fitting pressure between the insert and the sleeve which was not showing any positive tangential stresses in the insert. Through the simulation of 'eesy-DieOpt', we could know the number of the stress ring, the diameter ratios, the stresses of the die, the shrink fitting tolerance and temperature in the condition of the already determined maximum outer die diameter of the multi-stage former. The validity of the die design using the computer simulation was analyzed by the experiments and the results were satisfactory. As the results of this study, the new and easy die design system for cold forging has been developed.

자동차용 일체형 유니버셜 샤프트 조인트의 냉간단조 공정 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis on the Cold Forging Process of the Unified Universal Shaft Joint for the Automobile)

  • This study was aimed at the design of the dies for the unified shaft joint using the computer simulation to shorten the period of production, on the basis of the process planning which was designed by the field experts. In the computer simulation, 'Deform-3d' and 'Eesy-DieOpt' have been used, which are the commercial process analysis and die design program.   • Condenser tube which is used for a cooling system of automobiles is mainly manufactured by conform extrusion. However, direct extrusion using porthole die in comparison with conform extrusion has many advantages such as improvement of productivity, reduction of production cost etc. In general, the porthole die extrusion process is useful for manufacturing long tubes with hollow sections and consists of three stages(dividing, welding and forming stages). Especially, Porthole die for producing condenser tube is very complex. Thus, in order to obtain the detailed mechanics, to assist in the design of proper die shapes and sizes, and to improve the quality of products, porthole die extrusion should be analyzed in as non-steady state as possible. This paper describes FE analysis of non-steady state porthole die extrusion for producing condenser tube with multi-hole through 3D simulation in the non-steady state during the entire process to evaluate detailed metal flow, temperature distribution, welding pressure and extrusion load. Also to validate FE simulation of porthole die extrusion, a comparison of simulation and experiment results was presented in this paper.

  • 본 논문에서는 아이스크림용 아이스 콘에서 콘 부분을 만들기 위한 금형의 제작시 필요한 구조적 안정성을 평가 할 수 있는 유동해석을 수행하였다. 유동해석을 수행하기 위하여 상용 유한요소해석 코드인 ANSYS를 활용하였으며 내압조건, 경계조건, 구속조건 등을 고려하여 아이스 콘 금형 내부의 유동 흐름을 압력조건의 변화에 따라 구하였다.
