  • Parametric modeling and configuration design method are a important methods for rapid design in manufacturing. This paper proposes a relation rules which parametrically models a bonnet trimming tool based on Pro/Engineer. The concept of desogn is applied a trimming die of the bonnet outer panel. Trimming die have a many parameters. Each a parameter is related the die face and punch profile. A design system consists of a Pro/Engineer, a Pro/program.

  • Despite of outstanding optical performance of glass lens, glass lens have not been widely used because of poor productivity and high cost due to manufacturing process i.e. grinding, polishing. However, press-forming method of glass lens overcomes this disadvantage because of mass production. When glass lens is produced by press-forming method using closed die, it is needed that the volume of glass lens preform precisely measured in order to prevent incomplete products and to increase in life of die. The present paper shows the shortcoming of forming process with closed die, and performs FEM simulation of forming process with open die in order to overcome this shortcoming. The design parameter of open die is selected in standard of assembly with optical module and maintenance of optical performance. FEM simulation is carried out with selected parameter of open die and two basic preform. According to distribution of effective strain in glass lens, optical property of glass lens formed at each set of die and preform is compared.

The Effects of Die Design and Die Series on the Surface Residual Stress of Cold Drawn Eutectoid Steel Wire (고탄소강 와이어의 냉간 인발시 다이 디자인과 다이 시리즈가 표면 잔류 응력에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the die design and die series on the surface residual stress of cold drawn eutectoid steel wire has been investigated. Test pieces were fabricated using die series with different mean and final reduction ratio. Surface residual stresses in the axial direction were measured by X-ray diffraction, Broker's 2-dimensional GADDS system. Results were compared with stress profiles which were calculated by 3D and 2D finite element simulation, Hibbitt's ABAQUS 6.4 program in Finite Element Analysis. By means of FEA method, optimal die shape considering delta-parameter were induced and applied in order to determine die sequence designs. Balance of the drawing stresses was also introduced to optimize die sequence.

  • The objective of this paper is to design stamping die of inner reinforcement panel with DL 950 advanced high strength steel as stamping materials through numerical analyses and experiments. The stamping process was designed as bending dominant process consisting of 1 step of notching and 4 steps of bending processes. In order to obtain a proper design of the stamping die, various three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element analyses were performed using a commercial code AUTOFORM V4.2. Design parameter of stamping die was chosen as the corner radius of the stamping die for each step. From the results of the FE analysis, feasible corner radii of the stamping die, which can minimize the deviation of corner angle of the stamped part from design data, and forming load for each part were estimated. Stamping experiments were carried out using the manufactured stamping die according to the proposed die design. The results of experiments were shown that the stamping die can successfully manufacture the inner reinforcement panel with DL 950 advanced high strength steel as base stamping material.

  • This paper describes an expert system of progressive die. Because of the complexity for die structure and of the critical problems for press machine mechanism in the progressive press process such as, the travel length in process, the equalized press load, and the other design parameter, it has been increased the requirement of the CAD system for progressive die design more an more. So, through this study, an expert system of progressive die has been developed. The results from the system developed were suggested the possibility of applications in the practice. To develop this system, it has used c-language under the HP-UNIX system and CIS customer language of the EXCESS CAD/CAM system. An application of this system will provide effective aids to the designer in this field.

The effect of loaction of extrusion profile, arrangement of multiple extrusion profiles, and design of various die land has been investigated through the analysis. Several numerical examples of flat-die extrusion, such as C-section, multiple U- shape, and window guide extrusion, are analyzed. From the comparative study, the effect of design parameters is investigated. In each example, comparing the velocity distribution with that of the original design, it has been shown that the design modification affords much more uniform distribution of axial velocity

  • So far, this report is written by knowledge and standard through several reference drawing and experienced contents with drawing hemming die. The contents about actual design is so huge that I will write about it next time. Timing chart is important to hemming die because of link position and numbers. Timing chart need a very much design time because link number and position have to applied for each case. In this paper developed an automatic timing chart and link position by relation and Pro/Program of Pro/Engineer. The method used relation rule of design parameter for timing chart. In the future, I believe that simple easy to correct and reasonable price hemming die will be producted.

The Design Analysis for the Reduction of Radiated Sound from the Motor-die in Washing Machine (세탁기 모터다이의 방사음 저감을 위한 설계해석)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the dynamic characteristics of a motor-die in washing machine and provide quantitative design information needed for reduction of radiated sound from the motor-die. To perform the design analysis, dynamic characteristics are identified by motor-die modeling and the availability of model is verified by experimental modal analysis. Numerical approach using MSC/NASTRAN and SYSNOISE predicted sound attenuation effects according to the change of design parameters, such as thickness, concentrated mass and rib. The numerical results due to the rib attachment showed the significant noise attenuation effects over 15 dB in the frequency range of 450∼700 Hz.
