  • We obtained a Dicom file using a CT (Computed Tomography), a diagnostic test device used in clinical practice. Dicom files and 3D programs, and finger printers with 3D printers. Because the finger brace is intended for the human body, the accuracy of the shape is very important. 3D Print has the advantage of high precision, variety of materials, and short output time. In clinic, aluminum protector or medical device manufacturer's finger protector is limited. By creating a finger brace with a 3D printer, we expect to be able to apply a precise form of a custom finger brace to the patient that can be used to treat a patient's finger trauma, illness, or deformity.

  • PACS is a medical system for digital medical images, and PACS expand to web-based service using public network, DICOM files should be protected from the man-in-the-middle attack because they have personal medical record. To solve the problem, we designed flexible secure transmission system using IPSec and adopted to a web-based three-dimensional medical image system. And next, we performed the performance evaluation changing integrity and encryption algorithm using DICOM volume dataset. At that time, combinations of the algorithm was 'DES-MD5', 'DES-SHA1', '3DES-MD5', and '3DES-SHA1, and the experiment was performed on our test-bed. In experimental result, the overall performance was affected by encryption algorithms than integrity algorithms, DES was approximately 50% of throughput degradation and 3DES was about to 65% of throughput degradation. Also when DICOM volume dataset was transmitted using secure transmission system, the network performance degradation had shown because of increased packet overhead. As a result, server and network performance degradation occurs for secure transmission system by ensuring the secure exchange of messages. Thus, if the secure transmission system adopted to the medical images that should be protected, it could solve server performance gradation and compose secure web PACS.

  • Recently the increasing collaborative research requires the remote medical and clinical data sharing and access of external institutions. In this paper, an interoperability framework between Grid and PACS using Web services is proposed and implemented in order to provide flexible and efficient medical data management. The Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine(DICOM) standard defines medical image data exchange and transfer between PACSs and image databases. However, medical data exchange between hospitals is limited within the trusted and static environments. Moreover, DICOM does not provide medical data management and the Grid middleware does not include standard toolkit to access DICOM data. To address this issue, a Web services-based Grid Service Mediator (WGSM) which provides PACS integration and medical image data management is developed. The WGSM consists of several service mediators such as compress mediator, GridFTP mediator, RFT mediator, MyProxy mediator, MDS mediator, and RLS mediator and others. The proposed Web services-based framework provides user authentication and secure data access between PACSs in collaborative environments. In particular, the WGSM allows ordinary users to access remote PACS data in a simple and efficient manner without any the knowledge about underlying Grid middleware.

  • This study uses digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) files acquired after CT scan to obtain the absorbed dose distribution inside the body by using the patient's actual anatomical data; uses geometry and tracking (Geant)4 as a way to obtain the accurate absorbed dose distribution inside the body. This method is easier to establish the radioprotection plan through estimating the absorbed dose distribution inside the body compared to the evaluation of absorbed dose using thermo-luminescence dosimeter (TLD) with inferior reliability and accuracy because many variables act on result values with respect to the evaluation of the patient's absorbed dose distribution in diagnostic imaging and the evaluation of absorbed dose using phantom; can contribute to improving reliability accuracy and reproducibility; it makes significance in that it can implement the actual patient's absorbed dose distribution, not just mere estimation using mathematical phantom or humanoid phantom. When comparing the absorbed dose in polymethly methacrylate (PMMA) phantom measured in metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) dosimeter for verification of Geant4 and the result of Geant4 simulation, there was $0.46{\pm}4.69%$ ($15{\times}15cm^2$), and $-0.75{\pm}5.19%$ ($20{\times}20cm^2$) difference according to the depth. This study, through the simulation by means of Geant4, suggests a new way to calculate the actual dose of radiation exposure of patients through DICOM interface.

  • In recent years, medical procedures have become more complex, while financial pressures for shortened hospital stays and increased efficiency in patient care have increased. As a result, several shortcomings of present film-based systems for managing medical images have become apparent. Maintaining film space is labor intensive and consumes valuable space. Because only single copies of radiological examinations exist, they are prone to being lost or misplaced, thereby consuming additional valuable time and expense. In this paper, MINI-PACS for image archiving, transmission, and viewing offers a solution to these problems. Proposed MINI-PACS consists of mainly four parts such as Web Module, Client-Server Module, Internal Module, Acquisition Module. In addition, MINI-PACS system includes DICOM Converter that Non-DICOM file format converts standard file format. In Client-Server Module case, Proposed system is combined both SCU(Service Class User: Client) part and SCP(Service Class Provider: Server)part therefore this system provides the high resolution image processing techniques based on windows platform. Because general PACS system is too expensive for Medium and Small hospitals to install and operate the full-PACS. Also, we constructed Web Module for database connection through the WWW.

  • A small PACS based on PC is designed for CR. To receive the digital image from CR, a DICOM Interface Unit (DIU) is designed that complied with the medical image standard, DICOM V3.0. The CR images acquired through the DIU are stored in a file-server; the patient information of the images is stored in a database. To improve the performance of PC and to use it easily, multiresolution images are constructed by wavelet transform and displayed progressively. Wavelet compression method is newly adopted to store the images hierarchically to storage units. In this compression method, the image is decomposed into subclasses of image by wavelet transform, and then the subclasses of the image are vector quantized using a multiresolution codebook. The storage units for CR images were divided into the short-term storage in file-server and the harddisk in viewing station. Image processing tools supported by general PACS is implemented based on PC.

  • A general medical information service in hospitals recently has been rapidly developed in the effective patient management due to the digitalization. In addition, the hospitals make an effort to support the medical information service in ubiquitous environment. A key requirement in ubiquitous environment is the ability to communicate between the image viewer system using the DICOM standard and a server system to support the medical information service. This paper describes a remote networking system based on the mobile terminal with RFID technology for the medical information service. In order to apply the overall configuration, we first implemented the DICOM viewer system, configured the database to store the patient information, and realized the server/client networking system in mobile terminal environment. In particular, this paper showed the capability for the medical image-based communication as well as the text-based communication.

  • As the hand-held mobile devices are widely used, they are recently coming into convergence with medical diagnostic systems. Furthermore, the wireless mobile Internet and the various kinds of communication devices are rapidly coming into wide use converging with medical technology. The mobile communication environments can make people get more health care services beyond space and time. In this paper, we implement and evaluate the mobile client and the medical diagnostic information server for transmitting, searching and updating the medical diagnostic information. The DICOM CT image and the compressed JPEG 2000 CT image are statistically evaluated by t-test performance whether those images are clinically appropriate. In the case of the DICOM CT image, we realize that the average value is relatively more appropriate to the clinical diagnosis than the JPEG 2000 CT image.

  • This paper describes the construction of knowledge data retrieval management system based on medical image CT. The developed system is aimed to improve the efficiency of the hospital by reading the medical images using the intelligent retrieval technology and diagnosing the patient 's disease name. In this study, the medical image DICOM file of PACS is read, the image is processed, and feature values are extracted and stored in the database. We have implemented a system that retrieves similarity by comparing new CT images required for medical treatment with the feature values of other CTs stored in the database. After converting 100 CT dicom provided for academic research into JPEG files, Code Book Library was constructed using SIFT, CS-LBP and K-Mean Clustering algorithms. Through the database optimization, the similarity of the new CT image to the existing data is searched and the result is confirmed, so that it can be utilized for the diagnosis and diagnosis of the patient.
