다이어프램형 밸브의 유량특성과 동적성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flow Rate Characteristic and Dynamic Performance on Diaphragm Solenoid Valve)

  • Solenoid valve has used in various industrial field extensively. A solenoid valve has different size, shape and method of operation accordantly to industrial field. Many researchers study on kinds of solenoid valve such as flow rate, dynamic, magnetic field, valve shape and operating method. But the flow rate characteristic and dynamic response time performance on the diaphragm valve are not studied. This paper describes the flow rate characteristic and dynamic response time performance on the diaphragm valve. At first, the diaphragm valve is simulated in AMESim simulation tool. AMESim model found that an effect of valve performance depends on parameter. The parameter is the diaphragm orifice area. And the performance test bench confirms the effect in this parameter. Finally, it finds out the flow rate characteristic and dynamic response time performance on the diaphragm valve.

Analysis of Design Parameters For Shunt Valve and Anti-Siphon Device Used to Treat Patients with Hydrocephalus

  • The present study investigated design parameters of shunt valves and anti-siphon device used to treat patients with hydrocephalus. The shunt valve controls drainage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through passive deflection of a thin and small diaphragm. The anti-siphon device(ASD) is optionally connected to the valve to prevent overdrainage when the patients are in the standing position. The major design parameters influencing pressure-flow characteristics of the shunt valve were analyzed using ANSYS structural program. Experiments were performed on the commercially available valves and showed good agreements with the computer simulation. The results of the study indicated that predeflection of the shunt valve diaphragm is an important design parameter to determine the opening pressure of the valve. The predeflection was found to depend on the diaphragm tip height and could be adjusted by the diaphragm thickness and its elastic modulus. The major design parameters of the ASD were found to be the clearance (gap height) between the thin diaphragm and the flow orifice. Besides the gap height, the opening pressure of the ASD could be adjusted by the diaphragm thickness, its elastic modulus, area ratio of the diaphragm to the flow orifice. Based on the numerical simulation which considered the increased subcutaneous pressure introduced by the tissue capsule pressure on the implanted shunt valve system, optimum design parameters were proposed for the ASD.

S/R 밸브에서 격막의 곡률반경과 재료가 밸브 개구시간에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Curvature Radius and Material of Diaphragm on the Valve Opening Time in Diaphragm Type S/R Valve)

  • When the pressure at the weak spot established at a certain part of a high pressure vessel or piping system exceeds a design pressure, this weak spot is burst, and the pressurized gas emitted through the weak spot will cause a compression wave system. In this connection, in the present study, an experimental study by using a conventional shock tube facility is performed to estimate the effects of the material of diaphragm, curvature radius and thickness of materials on the valve opening time in diaphragm. Pressure sensor having 500kHz in natural frequency is installed at 35mm downstream of the rupture diaphragm to measure the static pressure history of propagating and being accumulated compression wave. 4 kinds of materials are used as diaphragm that is aluminium, copper, stainless steel and zinc. The diaphragm radii of curvature R are ${\infty}$, 120mm and 60, respectively. And the depth for $90^{\circ}$ groove is 0.04mm. It is found that the smaller the tensile strength and elongation of the rupture diaphragm is, the smaller the radius of curvature of the rupture diaphragm is, and for the same conditions the thinner the thickness of the rupture diaphragm is, the shorter the valve opening time becomes. Also, the tensile strength, elongation and the radius of curvature of the rupture diaphragm for the same conditions are smaller, the maximum pressure rise caused by the coalescences of the compression wave is smaller. Finally the pressure ratio is higher, the valve opening time is shortened and gradient of pressure increment is more steepen.

  • As the brake control valve of freight car, there are sliding valve and diaphragm one. In this study, we measured and analyzed pneumatic characteristics of brake system of the freight car by using real train experiment. The difference of the release time appears in the freight car incorporated with sliding and diaphragm valve respectively. We adapted quick release valve to reduce the difference of the release time and also found that this valve is useful for the purpose.

  • A metal diaphragm compressor has been widely used for supplying a high pressures gas. This compressor mainly consists of gas oil space and metal diaphragm. Gas sucked in the gas space is compressed by an oscillating metal diaphragm existed between the gas and oil space. A non-return discharge and suction check-valve are components of the compressor that draw off the compressed oil and gas. Those components are self-actuated by differential pressures. Therefore, the rapid response and stable operating conditions are required. In the present study, to find out the dynamic behavior of the suction, discharge valve and diaphragm compressor, the unsteady flow field has been investigated numerically by using the unsteady two-way FSI (Fluid Structure Interaction) simulation method, $k-{\omega}$ turbulent model and mesh deformation.

  • The dynamic characteristics of externally pressurized journal bearing have been studied theoretically. The Reynolds' equation has been solved by FDM, and the dynamic coefficients have been calculated by using perturbation method. The bearing is compensated by orifice or double-pad diaphragm control valve. The effects of diaphragm initial gap and stiffness are considered. As the results of analysis, it is shown that a control valve has better performance than orifice.

A Study on the Improvement of Release Application Characteristics of Pneumatic Brakes for Freight Train

  • We have performed experimental studies for the improvements of pneumatic brake systems of freight trains. Currently, most of the freight trains operated by the Korean National Railroad have either empty-load or diaphragm type brake systems. In this study, appropriate methods that the air pressure characteristics in both type of brake systems are in accordance with each other have been investigated. We have also performed running tests using a 30 car-train set to design optimum capacity of a quick release valve. The test results show that the quick release valve is considerably effective in shortening the release time of the diaphragm type brake system. In the case of a normal brake application, the diaphragm type brake system with the quick release valve reduces the release time to 34% of that of the system without the quick release valve. This release time is almost equivalent to that of the empty-load type brake system. Accordance of braking performance in different types of brake systems in a train set is expected to prevent wheel flats and to reduce maintenance costs.

  • Diaphragm type noncontact automatic control valve is a valve for controling acidic PR(Photo Resist) liquid used in the semiconductor process. PR is photosensitive liquid that changes phases depending on light transmittance. PR is very toxic and expensive; the purpose of this paper is to address methods that prevent loss due to leaks. The design of noncontact precise automatic control valve is expected to play an important role in controlling fluid flow, therefore influencing energy conservation and environmental improvement. In this paper, diaphragm type automatic control valve's part design, assembly and simulation are introduced. Also, through the analysis of fluid flow the valve's internal velocity, pressure, and turbulent intensity are interpreted. This paper proposes to contribute to the improvement of the valve's performance.

다이어프램형 방식의 파일럿 액추에이터 개발 (Development of a diaphragm type actuator)

  • 액체로켓 엔진용 개폐밸브는 파일럿 공압으로 포핏을 열고 스프링 힘에 의해 닫음으로써 로켓엔진의 추진제 유량을 제어한다. 현재 개발 중인 엔진용 개폐밸브는 다이어프램 액추에이터에서 압력을 제거하면 닫히도록 설계되어 있다. 다이어프램을 설계하고 개발하기 위해 밸브가 열리고 닫히는 특성에 따라 수명을 분석할 필요가 있다. 밸브가 닫히기 시작하는 시점의 작동 유체의 압력을 결정하고, 포핏이 열리는 시점의 압력을 결정되어 힘평형이 설계되어 있다. 수명시험은 상온 유동에서 다이어프램부의 크랙에 의한 누설은 용접 부위에서 발생했다. 다이어프램 액추에이터의 작동 수명은 헬륨 파일럿 압력의 22 MPa 시험에서 61회이다.
