The effect of IAA on lysine decarboxylase(LDC)activity, diamine oxidase (DAO) activity and the polyamine level in seedlings of soybean were investigated. The seedlings of soybean were treated with IAA (10-8M, 10-6M, 10-4M) and LDC activity, DAO activity and polyamine levels of cotyledon, elongating hypocotyl, elongated hypocotyl and the root were measured after 4, 6, 8, 10 days. Increased concentration of IAA stimulated the LDC activity and increased the level of polyamine in the seedlings, which reducing the DAO activity and polyamine level was increased in the seedlings. The light also stimulated the IAA effect on polyamine level and DAO activity, and polyamine level was higher in the seedlings grown in the light than those in the dark. Cadaverine was the most abundant polyamine in the seedlings of soybean. The levels of diamines, cadaverine, putrescine were higher in the elongated hypocotyl and root than in the elongating hypocotyl, but the levels of spermidine and spermine were relatively higher in the cotyledon than in the other parts. Accumulation of diamines by high concentration of IAA is postulated to be a phenomenon of inhibition in seedlings growth.

An optically active diacid containing the L-histidine moiety was prepared by reacting pyromellitic dianhydride (1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid 1,2,4,5-dianhydride) 1 with L-histidine 2 in acetic acid, and was polymerized with several aromatic diamines 5a-g to obtain a new series of optically active poly(amide-imide)s (PAIs) using two different methods, such as direct polycondensation in a medium consisting of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP)/triphenyl phosphite (TPP)/calcium chloride ($CaCl_2$)/pyridine (Py) and direct polycondensation in a tosyl chloride (TsCl)/pyridine (Py)/N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) system as a condensation agent. The resulting new polymers 6a-g with inherent viscosity was obtained in good yield. The polymers were readily soluble in polar organic solvents, such as N,N-dimethyacetamide (DMAc), N,N-dimethyformamide (DMF), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The obtained polymers were characterized by FTIR, specific rotation, elemental analysis as well as $^1$H-NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The thermal stability of the resulting PAIs was evaluated with thermogravimetric analysis techniques under a nitrogen atmosphere.

A direct regioselective α-hydroxyamination of α-branched aldehydes with nitrosobenzene using cis-5-benzylproline as catalyst has been developed for the preparation of α-hydroxyamino aldehydes possessing a quaternary carbon center. Such compounds are versatile building blocks for the synthesis of quaternary α- amino acids, β-amino alcohols, and 1,2-diamines.

In-plane-switching (IPS)-mode LCD is one of the most useful technologies for a broad range of viewing angles. To apply for IPS-LCDs, we synthesized novel homogeneous alignment materials, changing dianhydrides (BTDA and BPDA) and bridged diamines (ODA and PACM). We measured their pre-tilt angles using the crystal rotation method with positive LC and their surface properties.

A convenient method for the preparation of imidazobenzimidazole 3, imidazoimidazole 5, imidazotriazole 6 and pyrano [2, 3-c] oxazole 7 derivatives is described. This depends on interaction of 2-methyl-4-arylidene-2-oxazolin-5-ones 1 with o-diamines, thiosemicarbazide and/or ethylcyanoacetate. The effect of alcoholic potassium cyanide on axazolinone 1 was studied. Antibacterial activity of the obtained products was studied.

A new series of water-soluble conjugated aromatic polyimines containing sulfonate groups have been synthesized via polycondensation reaction between diamines and dialdehydes at room temperature. Self-assembled multilayer films consisting each polyimine as a polyanion and poly(diallyldimethylammonium hydrochloride) as a polycation were fabricated successfully by alternate deposition in corresponding aqueous solutions.

Through-space and through-bonds interactions between two nonbonding orbitals are shown to be first-order and second-order perturbations of nonbonding orbitals by the framework sigma orbitals. Through-space interactions for diamines and triplet diradicals are always destabilizing, but through-bonds interactions are stabilizing owing to their coupling with through-space effect. Anomalies in level ordering and magnitudes of energy splitting can be rationalized with the present approach. Orbtial interactions predicted with the PMO method were found to be consistent with those obtained by STO-3G calculations and photoelectron spectroscopy.

한자리 리간드로써 암민, 에틸렌디아민, 트리메틸렌디아민 등을 포함하는 ethylenediamine-triacetatocobalt (III) 착물을 합성하고, Dowex 50W-X8, 수소이온형 양이온 교환수지를 사용하여 각각 한 종류의 이성질체를 분리하였으며, 원소분석, pH적정, 적외선 분광법, 핵자기공명 및 전자흡수스펙트럼으로 가능한 기하이성질체중에서 cis-equatorial형이라고 추정하였다. 여러자리 리간드를 동시에 포함하는 meridional 형의 $[CoN_3O_3]$계에서 나타난 제 1흡수띠는 크게 분열된 양상을 보여주었고, 에틸렌디아민, 트리메틸렌디아민 등이 코발트(III) 이온에 한자리 리간드로 배위되었다는 사실도 확인하게 되었다.
