  • The Purpose of this study was to compare the distribution of implant fixtures according to length and diameter between screw-retained and cement-retained implant-supported fixed prosthesis and to asses whether prosthesis retained types affected the selection of size of implant fixtures. This study presents a follow-up 2,416 implant-supported fixed type prosthesis that have been screw retained or cemented retained for about 10 years in 14 dental clinics. Included in the study were 458 men and 397 women and implant fixtures used in this study were screw retained type 1,057 and 1,359 of cemented retained type. The statistical results among the diameter types of fixture by prosthesis retained type was no significant difference noted (P= 0.809) and there was significant differences was enough to among the lengths of fixture by prosthesis retained type (P= 0.020). However there were no significant difference among the fixture diameter types and length by prosthesis retained type (P= 0.486). So there was not affected to prostheis fixation mechanism for the size of implant fixtures.

  • The objective of this study is to determine the appropriate size of the inlet pipe diameter and thereby conduct hydraulic analysis for the Korean water distribution network. To this end, the data tables for equivalent pipe diameters and outflow rates presently employed in Korea were adopted. By incorporating the table of equivalent pipe diameters, it was found that the size of the inlet pipe diameter was overestimated, which can cause shortage of water pressure and malfunctioning or insufficiency of outflow rate in the corresponding adjacent region. However, by conducting hydraulic analysis based on the table of outflow rates, relatively reasonable flow rates were observed. Furthermore, by comparing the real demand-driven analysis (RDDA) approach and demand-driven analysis (DDA) approach toward managing the huge water demand, it was observed that DDA could not effectively respond to real hourly usage conditions, whereas RDDA (which reflects the hourly effects of inlet pipe diameter and storage tanks) demonstrated results similar to that of real water supply.

  • This study was carried out to compare the actual size(length and height) of ovaries, follicles and corpora lutea of Korean native cow with those on sonograms. We used 3 different probes(3.5 MHz abdominal probe, 6.5 MHz transvaginal probe and 5.0 MHz transrectal probe) and a calipher for measurements of ovaries, follicles and corpora lutea on sonograms and actual size. Under water immersion, 157 ovaries were scanned with 3 probes and measured in actual size and compared each other. The average height and width of ovaries of Korean native cows were 17.40$\pm$3.99 and 34.23$\pm$6.02mm, respectively. In comparison of height, length of ovaries and preovulation follicles, we found that image with a transvaginal probe was nearly the same as the actual size(p<0.01), but with an abdominal probe the image was appeared larger than the actual size. In measurement(diameter) of preovulation follicles the transvaginal probe was proven to be more accurate to the actual size than other probes and in corpus luteum measurement all probes were accurate. In the comparison of number of follicles by different size ranges, there was no statistical difference in the count of follicles over 10 mm in diameter between the transvaginal probe and naked eyes.

  • Light scattering coefficient of visible light by atmospheric aerosol over the size range 0.01-10$\mu$m is determined from scattering efficiency and aerosol size distribution. Aerosol number distribution as a function of particle diameter dN/dlog D decreases rapidly as increasing particle size. Distribution of scattering coefficient d$\sigma_s/dlog$ D is mostly accumulated in diameter 0.1-2.0 $\mu$m showing its maximum in the vicinity of 0.6$\mu$m. This means that the visible light in the atmosphere is mainly scattered by these particles. Diurnal variation of scattering coefficient $\sigma_s$ appears its maximum in the morning, while minimum in the afternoon which agrees with the aerosol number distribution in the size range 0.1-2.0 $\mu$m.

  • In this study, I examined hardening and non-hardening of the DFRCC (Ductile Fiber Reinforced Cementitious Composites) according to maximum size of coarse aggregate and the diameter of PVA (Poly Vinyl Alcohol) to develope PVA fiber reinforced concrete with the feature of DFRCC. As a result of this study, the fresh properties is similar regardless of maximum size of coarse aggregate. The bending stress and bending stress-displacement of DFRC showed big differences according to maximum size of coarse aggregate and diameter.

  • Atmospheric particulate matters (A. P. M. ) were collected on quartz-fiber filters from March 1985 to May 1986, using the Andersen high-volume air sampler and contents of six heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb Ni) in the A. P. M. were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. These heavy metals were divided into the three groups with respect to their particle size distribution. Fe and Mn were mainly associated with coarse particles (diameter > 2.0 $\mu$m), but Pb and Ni were related fine particles (diameter < 2.0 $\mu$m). Cu and Zn had mized size distributions in both of them. In the seasonal variation of heavy metals, the contents of Fe and Mn in spring and Ni and Pb in winter were higher than any other season. There were high mutual correlation between Fe and Mn coarse particles, and between Pb and Ni in fine particles.

  • Pathological study was made of 173 gallbladders among 652 slaughter pigs. The size and the pH of the bile juice were made of 50 among 173 gallbladders with lesions and 50 normal gallbladders as control. The results are summerized as follows : 1. The histological lesions were shown hyperemia and congestion(83.2%), Iymphocytic infiltration(37.5%), Iympoid hyperplasia(27%), epithelial downgrowth(27%), erosion and ulcer(22%), papillary hyperplasia (20.2%), pericholecystic edema(19.5%), hemorrhage(11%), and leukemic cell infiltration(0.6%). 2. In the gallbladders with lesions mean size was 4.26${\times}$7.88cm in diameter and mean pH is 7.2. In the control means size and mean pH were 4.57${\times}$8.13cm in diameter and 7.1. The difference of size between gallbladders with lesions and these as control was not statistically significant. The pH of bile juice between two showed also no statistically significant difference.

  • We investigated the size effect on quench development in $Au/YBa_2Cu_3O_7$ (YBCO) thin film meander lines on sapphire substrates. The meander lines were fabricated by patterning YBCO films coated with gold layers. The lines were subjected to simulated AC fault current, and immersed in liquid nitrogen during the experiment. After the initial rapid rise, the resistance increased moderately and then slowly. In 4 inch-diameter meander lines, the period during which the resistance increased moderately was considerably longer than in 2 inch-diameter line. Moderate increase of resistance was originated from quench propagation. The film temperature was about 180 K at the point when the propagation was completed. The rate of resistance increase after the quench completion was not affected by the film size.

  • Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) with uniform diameter and controlled size were prepared from catalytic decomposition of $\textrm{C}_{2}\textrm{H}_{2}$ with Ni-MgO catalyst treated by mechanochemical (MC) process. The properties of Ni catalyst, such as size, distribution and morphology, can be governed by tuning grinding time in MC process. As a result, size and structure of CNFs can be tailored. The effect of grinding time to the as-grown CNFs was studied. CNFs with diameter from 10-70 nm were synthesized. CNFs with bundle formation sharing one tip and twisted CNFs were also synthesized with catalyst treated by MC process.
