A Flexible Programmable Memory BIST for Embedded Single-Port Memory and Dual-Port Memory

  • Programmable memory built-in self-test (PMBIST) is an attractive approach for testing embedded memory. However, the main difficulties of the previous works are the large area overhead and low flexibility. To overcome these problems, a new flexible PMBIST (FPMBIST) architecture that can test both single-port memory and dual-port memory using various test algorithms is proposed. In the FPMBIST, a new instruction set is developed to minimize the FPMBIST area overhead and to maximize the flexibility. In addition, FPMBIST includes a diagnostic scheme that can improve the yield by supporting three types of diagnostic methods for repair and diagnosis. The experiment results show that the proposed FPMBIST has small area overhead despite the fact that it supports various test algorithms, thus having high flexibility.

  • Over the last few years, capsule endoscopy has been established as a fundamental device in the practicing gastroenterologist's toolbox. Its utilization in diagnostic algorithms for suspected small bowel bleeding, Crohn's disease, and small bowel tumors has been approved by several guidelines. The advent of double-balloon enteroscopy has significantly increased the therapeutic possibilities and release of multiple devices (single-balloon enteroscopy and spiral enteroscopy) aimed at improving the performance of small bowel enteroscopy. Recently, some important innovations have appeared in the small bowel endoscopy scene, providing further improvement to its evolution. Artificial intelligence in capsule endoscopy should increase diagnostic accuracy and reading efficiency, and the introduction of motorized spiral enteroscopy into clinical practice could also improve the therapeutic yield. This review focuses on the most recent studies on artificial-intelligence-assisted capsule endoscopy and motorized spiral enteroscopy.

  • The pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare malignant tumor, which is composed of an admixture of carcinomatous and sarcomatous components, and accounts for 0.3% of all pulmonary neoplasms. Clinicopathological features are often related to anatomical location: central endobronchial type and peripheral parenchymal type. Noninvasive diagnostic test had a low yield in detection sarcomatoid carcinoma. Metastasis to the regional lymph nodes and to distant organ is common. The prognosis is poor and the median survival is about 15 months. We report two cases of pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma with review of literatures.

폐의 암육종 치험2례 (Pulmonary Carcinosarcoma; Two Cases Report)

  • Carcinosarcoma of the lung is an admixture of cardinomatous and sarcomatous lesion and accounts for 0.3% of all pulmonary neoplasm. Clinicopathological features are often related to anatomical location : central endobronchial type and peripheral parenchymal type. Noninvasive diagnostic tests had a low yield in detection carcinosarcoma. Metastasis to regional lymph nodes and to distant organ is common. The prognosis is poor and the median survival is less than one year.Two cases of carcinosarcoma patients are reported here - one case is composed of undifferent cell carcinoma and spindle cell sarcoma in the male of 72 year old and the other case squamous cell carcinoma and spindle cell sarcoma in the male of 65 year old.

  • Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia is among the most uncommon conditions after severe trauma, and it is associated with high morbidity and mortality. The diagnosis is difficult and might be missed, but a multimodal investigation might help in terms of diagnostic yield. In this case report, we present a missed right diaphragmatic rupture 14 years after the trauma.

  • 본 연구(硏究)는 호남평야지(湖南平野池) 논토양(土壤)의 대표토양(代表土壤)인 전북통(全北統)에서 벼 무논골뿌림직파물리성개선(直播物理性改善) 및 진단시비(診斷施肥)에 의한 쌀 안정(安定) 증수방법(增收方法)을 구명(究明)하고자 관행(慣行), 진단시비(診斷施肥), 진단시비(診斷施肥)+심경(深耕), 심토파쇄(心土破碎), 진단시비(診斷施肥)(LCU80%) + 심토파쇄(深土破碎), 무질소구(無窒素區) 등(等) 6처리(處理)로 하여 2년간(年間)('97~'98)에 걸쳐 검토(檢討)한 시험결과(試驗結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. 심경(深耕) 및 심토파쇄시(心土破碎時) 관행(慣行)에 비하여 경도(硬度), 용적밀도(容積密度)가 낮아지고 공극률(孔隙率)이 증가(增加)하여 물리성(物理性) 개선효과(改善效果)가 현저하였으며 화학성분중(化學成分中) 유기물(有機物), 인산(燐酸), 가리함량(加里含量)이 크게 증가(增加)하였다. 시비질소(施肥窒素)의 토양중(土壤中) $NH_4-N$ 용출량(溶出量)은 관행대비(慣行對比) 진단시비(診斷施肥) + 사양물리성개선구(士壤物理性改善區)에서 크게 증가(增加)하였으며, 시비질소(施肥窒素)의 흡수량(吸收量)과 이용률(利用率)은 진단시비(診斷施肥)(LCU80% 전량기비(全量基肥))+심토파쇄구(心土破碎區)에서 가장 많았으며 엽색(葉色)과 경엽중(莖葉中) 질소농도(窒素濃度)는 관행(慣行)에 비하여 진단시비(診斷施肥)+토양특리성개선구(土壤特理性改善區)에서 최고분벽기(最高分蘗期)부터 출수기(出穗期)기까지 높았으며 이들 상호간(相互間)의 유의성(有意性)이 인정(認定)되었다. 쌀수량(收量)은 관행(慣行)보다 진단시비(診斷施肥) 6%, 진단시비(診斷施肥) + 심경구(深耕區) 18%가 증수(增收)하였으나 진단시비(診斷施肥)(LCU80% 전량기비(全量基肥))+심토파쇄구(心土破碎區)에서 23%가 증수(增收)되었고 시비효율(施肥效率)도 가장 높았다.

Transbronchial Lung Cryobiopsy for Diagnosing Interstitial Lung Disease: A Retrospective Single-Center Experience

  • Background: An accurate diagnosis in patients with interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) by multidisciplinary discussion (MDD) based on histopathologic information is essential for optimal treatment. Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLC) has increasingly been used as a diagnostic alternative to surgical lung biopsy. This study aimed to evaluate the appropriate methods of TBLC in patients with ILD in Korea. Methods: A total of 27 patients who underwent TBLC were included. TBLC procedure details and clinical MDD diagnosis using TBLC histopathologic information were retrospectively analyzed. Results: All procedures were performed under general anesthesia with the fluoroscopic guidance in the operation room using flexible bronchoscopy and endobronchial balloon blocker. The median procedure duration was less than 30 minutes, and the median number of biopsies per participant was 2. Most of the bleeding after TBLC was not severe, and the rate of pneumothorax was 25.9%. The most common histopathologic pattern was alternative (48.2%), followed by indeterminate (33.3%) and usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP)/probable UIP (18.5%). In the MDD after TBLC, the most common diagnosis was idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (33.3%), followed by smoking-related ILD (25.9%), nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (18.6%), unclassifiable-ILD (14.8%), and others (7.4%). Conclusion: This first single-center experience showed that TBLC using a flexible bronchoscopy and endobronchial balloon blocker with the fluoroscopic guidance under general anesthesia may be a safe and adequate diagnostic method for ILD patients in Korea. The diagnostic yield of MDD was 85.2%. Further studies are needed to evaluate the diagnostic yield and confidence of TBLC.

Evaluation of linear measurements of implant sites based on head orientation during acquisition: An ex vivo study using cone-beam computed tomography

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the effect of various head orientations during cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) image acquisition on linear measurements of potential implant sites. Materials and Methods: Six dry human skulls with a total of 28 implant sites were evaluated for seven different head orientations. The scans were acquired using a Hitachi CB-MercuRay CBCT machine. The scanned volumes were reconstructed. Horizontal and vertical measurements were made and were compared to measurements made after simulating the head position to corrected head angulations. Data was analyzed using a two-way ANOVA test. Results: Statistical analysis revealed a significant interaction between the mean errors in vertical measurements with a marked difference observed at the extension head position (P<0.05). Statistical analysis failed to yield any significant interaction between the mean errors in horizontal measurements at various head positions. Conclusion: Head orientation could significantly affect the vertical measurements in CBCT scans. The main head position influencing the measurements is extension.

Utility of Radial Probe Endobronchial Ultrasound-Guided Transbronchial Lung Biopsy in Diffuse Lung Lesions

  • Background: Radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS) is widely used for diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions. However, the utility of R-EBUS-guided transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) for diffuse lung lesions (DLLs) remains unknown. We designed this study to evaluate the utility of R-EBUS-guided TBLB in DLLs. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled patients admitted from January 2016 to November 2017 who underwent TBLB for DLLs. The R-EBUS-guided TBLB and blind TBLB groups were compared. DLL was defined as any lung disorder that involved more than one segment of the lung. In both the groups, fluoroscopy and guided sheath were not used during TBLB. Results: A total of 127 patients underwent TBLB for DLLs (67 patients in the R-EBUS-guided TBLB group and 60 in the blind TBLB group). There were no differences in age, sex, and comorbid illnesses between the two groups. Furthermore, there was no difference in the TBLB diagnostic yield of the two groups (p=0.660) although more samples were collected from the R-EBUS-guided TBLB group (p=0.003). Procedure time was significantly longer in the R-EBUS-guided TBLB group than in the blind TBLB group (p<0.001). Thus, incidence of pneumothorax was significantly lower in the R-EBUS-guided TBLB group than in the blind TBLB group (p=0.032). Conclusion: Diagnostic yield in DLLs did not differ between the R-EBUS-guided TBLB and blind TBLB groups. Findings show that R-EBUS-guided TBLB in DLLs may reduce risk of pneumothorax.
