  • Background: As breast tissue expanders consist of metallic materials in the needle guard and ferromagnetic injection port, irradiation can produce radioactivation. Materials and Methods: A CPX4 (Mentor Worldwide LLD) breast tissue expander was exposed using the Versa HD (Elekta) linear accelerator. Two photon energies of 6 and 10 MV-flattening filter free (FFF) beams with 5,000 monitor units (MU) were irradiated to identify the types of radiation. Furthermore, 300 MU with 10 MV-FFF beam was exposed to the CPX4 breast tissue expander by varying the machine dose rates (MDRs) 600, 1,200, and 2,200 MU/min. To assess the instantaneous dose rates (IDRs) solely from the CPX4, a tissue expander was placed outside the treatment room after beam irradiation, and a portable radioisotope identification device was used to identify the types of radiation and measure IDR. Results and Discussion: After 5,000 MU delivery to the CPX4 breast tissue expander, the energy spectrum whose peak energy of 511 keV was found with 10 MV-FFF, while there was no resultant one with 6 MV-FFF. The time of each measurement was 1 minute, and the mean IDRs from the 10 MV-FFF were 0.407, 0.231, and 0.180 μSv/hr for the three successive measurements. Following 10 MV-FFF beam irradiation with 300 MU indicated around the background level from the first measurement regardless of MDRs. Conclusion: As each institute room entry time protocol varies according to the working hours and occupational doses, we suggest an addition of 1 minute from the institutes' own room entry time protocol in patients with CPX4 tissue expander and the case of radiotherapy vaults equipped with a maximum energy of 10 MV photon beams.

  • Recently, due to COVID-19, the use of non-face-to-face authentication and fever detection systems is increasing. As the number of confirmed cases increases, the government is making it mandatory to authenticate and install a fever detector. It is used for entering and leaving not only general restaurants but also all stores. However, in most cases, the heat detector and the authentication device are separately configured and used, which is very inconvenient. Therefore, this study was conducted to develop an access control system that can simultaneously perform these functions. A smart access control system was developed by combining IOT technology as well as a fever detection function and smart personal recognition function. It is expected to further develop K-Quarantine by distributing it to public facilities and nursing facilities in the future.

  • Smart grid that supports efficient energy production and management is used in various fields and industries. However, because of the environment in which services are provided through open networks, it is essential to resolve trust issues regarding security vulnerabilities and privacy preservation. In particular, the identification information of smart meter is managed by a centralized server, which makes it vulnerable to security attacks such as device stolen, data forgery, alteration, and deletion. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a blockchain based authentication protocol for a smart meter. The proposed scheme issues an unique decentralized identifiers (DIDs) for individual smart meter through blockchain and utilizes a random values based on physical unclonable function (PUF) to strengthen the integrity and reliability of data. In addition, we analyze the security of the proposed scheme using informal security analysis and AVISPA simulation, and show the efficiency of the proposed scheme by comparing with related work.

  • A method for gamma/neutron event classification based on frequency-domain analysis for mixed radiation environments is proposed. In contrast to the traditional charge comparison method for pulse-shape discrimination, which requires baseline removal and pulse alignment, our method does not need any preprocessing of the digitized data, apart from removing saturated traces in sporadic pile-up scenarios. It also features the identification of neutron events in the detector's full energy range with a single device, from thermal neutrons to fast neutrons, including low-energy pulses, and still provides a superior figure-of-merit for classification. The proposed frequency-domain analysis consists of computing the fast Fourier transform of a triggered trace and integrating it through a simplified version of the transform magnitude components that distinguish the neutron features from those of the gamma photons. Owing to this simplification, the proposed method may be easily ported to a real-time embedded deployment based on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays or Digital Signal Processors. We target an off-the-shelf detector based on a small CLYC (Cs2LiYCl6:Ce) crystal coupled to a silicon photomultiplier with an integrated bias and preamplifier, aiming at lightweight embedded mixed radiation monitors and dosimeter applications.

  • The analytical conditions including surface state, moisture effect, and device condition were investigated for applying Short Wave Infrared(SWIR) spectroscopy to the field survey. Among the three surface state of samples (exposed surface, cutting face and powder), both spectra from the exposed surface and cutting face are almost identical whereas spectral variation was detected in powder sample. Over 24-hours-dryring of the wet sample at room temperature, the samples show a similar spectrum with that of dry condition. The result suggests that outcrop samples mighty be dried for 24 ~ 48 hours depending on the wetness of outcrop. The bright minerals could produce stable spectra with 10 times measurements as default value of the device under SWIR spectroscopy but the dark minerals would require about 10 seconds, which corresponds to 100 times measurements to get the reliable spectra. The position and shape 2,160 ~ 2,330 nm and/or other spectral features of hydrothermal alteration minerals by SWIR spectroscopy could be used for a classification of hydrothermal alteration zone in the field. Absorption peaks in 2,160 ~ 2180 nm are useful for identifying (advanced) argillic zone by spectral characteristics of kaoline, dickite, pyrophyllite, and alunite. Absorption peaks in 2,180 ~ 2,230 nm are able to define muscovite, sericite, and smectite, which are key alteration minerals in phyllic zone. Absorption peaks in 2,230 ~ 2,270 nm can be used to recognize prophylitic zone where chlorite and epidote occur. Absorption peaks of other principle minerals such as talc, serpentine, amphibole, and carbonate group are mainly detected within the wave length of 2,270 ~ 2,330 nm. This result indicates that the spectra of these minerals need to be carefully interpreted.

  • The presence of the conduction interface in epitaxial $LaAlO_3/SrTiO_3$ thin films has opened up challenging applications which can be expanded to next-generation nano-electronics. The metallic conduction path is associated with two adjacent insulating materials. Such device structure is applicable to frequency-dependent impedance spectroscopy. Impedance spectroscopy allows for simultaneous measurement of resistivity and dielectric constants, systematic identification of the underlying electrical origins, and the estimation of the electrical homogeneity in the corresponding electrical origins. Such unique capability is combined with the intentional control on the interface composition composed of $SrTiO_3$ and $CaTiO_3$, which can be denoted by $SrxCa1-_xTiO_3$. The underlying $Sr_xCa1-_xTiO_3$ interface was deposited using pulsed-laser deposition, followed by the epitaxial $LaAlO_3$ thin films. The platinum electrodes were constructed using metal shadow masks, in order to accommodate 2-point electrode configuration. Impedance spectroscopy was performed as the function of the relative ratio of Sr to Ca. The respective impedance spectra were analyzed in terms of the equivalent circuit models. Furthermore, the impedance spectra were monitored as a function of temperature. The ac-based characterization in the 2-dimensional conduction path supplements the dc-based electrical analysis. The artificial manipulation of the interface composition will be discussed towards the electrical application of 2-dimensional materials to the semiconductor devices in replacement for the current Si-based devices.

  • The PET/CT scanner is an evolution in image technology. The two modalities are complementary with CT and PET images. The PET scan images are well known as low resolution anatomic landmak, but such problems may help with interpretation detailed anatomic framework such as that provided by CT scan. PET/CT offers some advantages-improved lesion localization and identification, more accurate tumor staging. etc. Conventional PET employs tranmission scan require around 4 min./bed position and 30 min. for whole body scan. But PET/CT scanner can reduced by 50% in whole body scan. Especially nowadays PET scanner LSO scintillator-based from BGO without septa and operate in 3-D acquisition mode with multidetectors CT. PET/CT scanner fusion problems solved through hardware rather than software. Such device provides with the capability to acquire accurately aligned anatomic and functional images from single scan. It is very important to effective detection from gamma ray source in PETdetector. And can be offer high quality diagnostic images. So we have study about detection processing of PET detector and high quality imaging process.

  • The Group Digital Surveillance System for Fishery Safety and Security (GDSS-F2S) is to provide the target tracking information and the target identification information in order to secure an huge aquaculture farm-field from a thief. The two information, however, is not enough to indict the thief due to the lack of lawful evidences for the crime actions. To overcome this problem, we consider the target image information as one of solutions after discussion with the effective countermeasure tools for the crime actions with scenario-based analysis according to the geological feature of aquaculture farm-field. To capture the real-time image for the trespassing targets in the aquaculture farm-field area, we developed the image capture system which is consists of ultra sensitive CCD(Charge-Coupled Device) camera with 0.0001 Lux and supplementary devices. As results from the field tests for GDSS-F2S with image capture system, the high definite images of the vehicle number plate and shape, person's actions and features are obtainable not only day time but also very dark night without moon light. Thus it is cleary known that the improved GDSS-F2S with image capture system can provide much enough lawful evidences for the crime actions of targets.
