  • The purpose of this study is to develop a application procedure and survey method for the empirical diagnostic indices system. In order to know the survey method, which has 65 investigation items for 52 indicators, this study not only presented so that the each survey items could be surveyed in at least 1 to 3 steps, but also presented the 4 survey method for each investigation items: preliminary survey, administrative survey, field survey, and interview survey. As a result of applying to 15 sample villages, the period of surveying a village of 100 households was 1.4 days, and it was confirmed that the survey was generally efficient in a short time. As a result of applying the survey system to the sample village, the developed survey system showed the possibility of investigating even the details of rural villages. Therefore, it was judged that it could be used as a basic procedure for a rural village unit survey.

  • The warehousing of inventories is an enormous expense to industries worldwide, and yet there are few available that can be used to design rack storage systems while considering overall system costs. The primary objective of this paper is the development of an overall ware hous storage system costs model to aid a warehous planner in the design of automated warehouse systems. A simulation model and statistical estimation procedures are used to determine the maximum inventory levels accumulated in the receiving, storage, and shipping areas. The overall cost model is developed to determine the required total land, the initial investment fund, the number of pieces of handling equipment, and the storage rack configuration for the main storage area. A numerical example is then presented to demonstrate the application of the overall system cost model developed in this paper.

  • This paper discusses the techniques, procedures and the results of the ground vibration test(GVT) performed on the development aircraft and the simple procedure of FE model updating technique from the GVT results. The GVT was carried out using random excitation technique with MIMO(Multi-Input-Multi-Output) data acquistion method, and taking full advantage of poly-reference global parameter estimation technique to identify the vibration modes. In dynamic FE modeling, the aircraft was represented by beam elements and all dynamic analysis was performed using MSC/NASTRAN for this model. In updating procedure, the stiffness of the beam model was adjusted iteratively so as to get the natural frequencies and mode shapes close to the GVT results.

  • General concepts and overall procedures of APMAG-Agricultural Products Marketing Analysis Model using GIS(Geographic Information System) techniques for appropriate allocation and management of agricultural products marketing facilities are introduced. In this study, modeling techniques and visual reporting skills are both emphasized. The APMAG enables to analyze the temporal and spatial flow of agricultural products marketing by the flow function that is proposed in this study. Results analyzed by proposed model for rice are displayed many different ways and show the use of the given model.

  • A FE model is to develop a personalized biomechanical model of the scoliotic spine that will allow the design of clinical test providing optimal estimation of the post-operation results. A flexible multi-body model of the spine including rib cage, clavicle, and scapular was developed to simulate several mobility simulations. Vertebrae, clavicle and scapular were represented using rigid bodies and ribs and sternum were modeled as flexible bodies. Kinematical Joints and spring elements were used to represent the intervertebral disc and ligaments respectively. Postero-anterior and lateral radiographics of a scoliotic spine were used to represent a 3D reconstruction. CT data for same patient were also used to verify vertebrae rotation driven from postero-anterior and lateral radiographic images. Simulated results showed good reducibility almost uniformly distributed along the spinal segments. It was also found that boundary and loading conditions, required to mimic the operation procedures, were proven to be very sensitive parameters to its results rather than its mechanical properties

  • In this paper, based on the developed dynamic model of a vacuum circuit breaker mechanism, the development of the new circuit breaker with less energy mechanism is focused. The energy flow analysis of the original mechanism is carried out to show where the elastic potential energies of pre-loaded springs are transmitted. Through energy flow analysis, the concept design of the new circuit breaker with less energy mechanism is proposed, and then the detailed design is carried out through the design process based on the verified dynamic model. Comparing simulation results with experiment using a high-speed camera, the appropriateness of the proposed design procedures for the rapid circuit breaker mechanism is shown.

  • This study is aimed to develop a long-term daily runoff simulation model. The model is theoretically constructed and is applied to the practical problems to verify its reasonableness. A lumped, nonlinear model is proposed and is calibrated as quasilinearization procedures. The hydrological data used in the paper are precipitation, runoff, and evaporation records in the Bochong Stream which is one of the tributaries of the Geum River.

  • This paper gives a general survey of model-based fault detection and dignosis methods. Specific applications of these ideas to boiler systems will also be discussed. A novel aspect of the fault detection technique described here is that it explicitly accounts for the effects of using simplified models and errors from linearizing a nonlinear system at an operation point. Inclusion of these effects is shown to lead to novel fault detection procedures which outperform existing methods when applied to typical fault scenarios in boiler systems.

  • Microfluidic lab-on-a-chip (LOC) systems have enabled a new generation ofassay technologies in chemical and biomedical sciences. Caliper's microfluidic LOC systems contain a network of microscopic channels through which fluids and chemical are moved in order to perform experiments. The main advantages of these continuous-flow devices are integration and automation of multiple steps in complex analytical procedures to improve the reproducibility of the results, and eliminated the manual labor, time and pipetting errors involved in analyses. The present talk is devoted to give a brief introduction of microfluidic basics and to present in applying continuous-flow microchips to drug screening with model enzyme assays.

  • Test effort estimated so far is as a by-product of the development effort estimation activity which is based on the FP, UCP, COCOMO model, or calculated data from the project knowledge base which is containing test effort information for the test phase on software development life cycle. In this paper, test effort estimation model and calculating procedures are suggested, which is independent from software development effort estimation model. Generally test efforts is depends on the number and the complexity of test cases, and also maturity of test organization that performs test activities, such as integration test, system test, acceptance test and so on. The estimated results with the suggested test effort estimation model has deviation of 4.7% compare to the corresponding test efforts generated by the development effort estimationprocedures. The suggesting model will be accurate more and more with refinements of coefficients which reflect the technical and environmental maturity level of test organization, and also including the software complexity level of projects.
