The purpose of this study was to develop the inertial sensor module system to detect gait event using single angular rate sensor(gyroscope), and evaluate the accuracy of this system. This sensor module is attached at the heel and gait events such as heel strike, foot flat, heel off, toe off are detected by using proposed automatic event detection algorithm. The developed algorithm detect characteristics of pitch data of the gyroscope to find gait event. To evaluate the accuracy of system, 3D motion capture system was used and synchronized with sensor module system for comparison of gait event timings. In experiment, 6 subjects performed 5 trials level walking with 3 different conditions such as slow, preferred and fast. Results showed that gait event timings by sensor module system are similar to that by kinematic data, because maximum absolute errors were under 37.4msec regardless of gait velocity. Therefore, this system can be used to detect gait events. Although this system has advantages of small, light weight, long-term monitoring and high accuracy, it is necessary to improve the system to get other gait information such as gait velocity, stride length, step width and joint angles.

This paper proposes a new low-cost current detection method to implement vector-controlled inverter of 3-phase induction motor or permanent-magnet synchronous motor using 2 shunt resistors instead of expensive Hall current sensors. The proposed method can detect perfect phase currents without current-immeasurable area in all operating conditions of motor. This method uses 2 shunt resistors in Hall current sensor positions conventionally used to detect phase currents. Therefore, it requires accurate analog differential amplifiers to detect voltages across shunt resistors at high electric potential to ground. We show the good solutions which are implemented by voltage-divider resistors networks and the instrumentation amplifiers using several Op Amps at cheap price. Computer simulations and experiments were performed to confirm the effectiveness of proposed method. These results show that proposed method can perfectly detect phase currents without current-immeasurable area in all operating conditions of motor.
Purpose : During brain MRI scanning, subject's head motion can adversely affect MRI images. To minimize MR image distortion by head movement, we developed an optical tracking system to detect the 3-D movement of subjects. Materials and Methods: The system consisted of 2 CCD cameras, two infrared illuminators, reflective sphere-type markers, and frame grabber with desktop PC. Using calibration which is the procedure to calculate intrinsic/extrinsic parameters of each camera and triangulation, the system was desiged to detect 3-D coordinates of subject's head movement. We evaluated the accuracy of 3-D position of reflective markers on both test board and the real MRI scans. Results: The stereo system computed the 3-D position of markers accurately for the test board and for the subject with glasses with attached optical reflective marker, required to make regular head motion during MRI scanning. This head motion tracking didn't affect the resulting MR images even in the environment varying magnetic gradient and several RF pulses. Conclusion: This system has an advantage to detect subject's head motion in real-time. Using the developed system, MRI operator is able to determine whether he/she should stop or intervene in MRI acquisition to prevent more image distortions.

The technologies of 3D spatial information, such as Smart City and Digital Twins, are developing rapidly for managing land and solving urban problems scientifically. In this construction of 3D spatial information, an object using aerial photo images is built as a digital DB. Realistically, the task of extracting a texturing image, which is an actual image of the object wall, and attaching an image to the object wall are important. On the other hand, occluded areas occur in the texturing image. In this study, the ResNet algorithm in deep learning technologies was tested to solve these problems. A dataset was constructed, and the street tree was detected using the ResNet algorithm. The ability of the ResNet algorithm to detect the street tree was dependent on the brightness of the image. The ResNet algorithm can detect the street tree in an image with side and inclination angles.

GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indicator) is a kind of airborne radar function that is used widely in military applications to detect the moving targets on the ground. In this paper, GMTI signal processing technique was presented and its performance was verified using sum and difference channels raw data obtained by the captive flight test.
In speech signal processing, it is very important to detect the pitch exactly. Although various methods for detecting the pitch of speech signals have been developed, it is difficult to exactly extract the pitch for wide range of speakers and various utterances. Thus we propose a new pitch detection algorithm which takes advantage of the G-peak extraction. It is a method to detect the pitch period of the voiced signals by finding MZCI (maximum zero-crossing interval) of the G-peak which is defined as cut-off bandwidth rate of LPF (low pass filter). This algorithm performs robustly with a gross error rate of 3.63% even in 0 dB SNR environement. The gross error rate for clean speech is only 0.18%. Also it is able to process all courses with high speed.
Unlike conventional Eddy Current Test (ECT), Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) uses a multiple-frequency current pulse through the excitation coil. In the present study, the detection of subsurface cracks using a specially designed probe that allows the detection of a deeper crack with a relatively small current density has been attempted using the PEC technique. The tested sample is a piece of 304 stainless steel (SS304) with a thickness of 30mm. Small electrical discharge machining (EDM) notches were put in the test sample at different depths from the surface to simulate the subsurface cracks in a pipe. The designed PEC probe consists of an excitation coil and a Hall sensor and can detect a subsurface crack as narrow and shallow as 0.2 mm wide and 2 mm deep. The maximum distance between the probe and the defect is 28 mm. The peak amplitude of the detected pulse is used to evaluate the cracks under the sample surface. In time domain analysis, the greater the crack depth the greater the peak amplitude of the detected pulse. The experimental results indicated that the proposed system has the potential to detect the subsurface cracks in stainless steel plates.

FFT based fingerprinting to conceal more information has developed for video copyright protection. More complex information of video is necessary to prove an ownership and legal distributions in invisible form. This paper describes a method to insert more information and to detect them. $3{\times}3$ points structure is used to present information. The possible ways to show are 8bit, $2^8$ = 256 where one point of 9 is always turn on. The points are marked in frequency domain that both real and imaginary party numbers are modified. The five successive frames of same scenes are used to mark because the same scene has very similar shape in FFT result. However, the detail values of coefficients are totally different each other to recognize the marked points. This paper also describes a method to detect the marked points by averaging and correlation algorithm. The PSNRs of marked images by our method had 51.138[dB] to 51.143[dB]. And we could get the correlation values from 0.79 to 0.87.

We propose a novel eye tracking method that can estimate 3D world coordinates using an infrared (IR) stereo camera for indoor and outdoor environments. This method first detects dark evidences such as eyes, eyebrows and mouths by fast multi-level thresholding. Among these evidences, eye pair evidences are detected by evidential reasoning and geometrical rules. For robust accuracy, two classifiers based on multiple layer perceptron (MLP) using gradient local binary patterns (GLBPs) verify whether the detected evidences are real eye pairs or not. Finally, the 3D world coordinates of detected eyes are calculated by region-based stereo matching. Compared with other eye detection methods, the proposed method can detect the eyes of people wearing sunglasses due to the use of the IR spectrum. Especially, when people are in dark environments such as driving at nighttime, driving in an indoor carpark, or passing through a tunnel, human eyes can be robustly detected because we use active IR illuminators. In the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed method can detect eye pairs with high performance in real-time under variable illumination conditions. Therefore, the proposed method can contribute to human-computer interactions (HCIs) and intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) applications such as gaze tracking, windshield head-up display and drowsiness detection.

Detection of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) remains essential for the development of therapies against diseases. Experimental studies to detect PPI are longer and more expensive. Today, with the availability of PPI data, several computer models for predicting PPIs have been proposed. One of the big challenges in this task is feature extraction. The relevance of the information extracted by some extraction techniques remains limited. In this work, we first propose an extraction method based on correlation relationships between the physicochemical properties of amino acids. The proposed method uses a correlation matrix obtained from the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity properties that it then integrates in the calculation of the bigram. Then, we use the SVM algorithm to detect the presence of an interaction between 2 given proteins. Experimental results show that the proposed method obtains better performances compared to the approaches in the literature. It obtains performances of 94.75% in accuracy, 95.12% in precision and 96% in sensitivity on human HPRD protein data.
