Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the possible paracrine effect of bone morphogeneticprotein-2 (BMP-2) at the experimental site on the adjacent control site for validating a rabbit calvarial defect model as a means of verifying the effect of BMP-2. Methods: Sixteen rabbits were divided into two groups (n=8 in each) according to whether or not BMP-2 would be used. Two circular defects (8 mm in diameter) were created side by side, 2 mm apart, in the calvarium of all of the rabbits. In each animal, one of the defects was grafted with either BMP-2-loaded carrier or carrier material alone. The control defects adjacent to these grafted defects, designated CB (the nongrafted defect adjacent BMP-2-loaded carrier-grafted defect) and CC (the nongrafted defect adjacent to carrier only-grafted defect), respectively, were the focus of this study, and were filled only with a blood clot in all of the animals. Histologic observation and histomorphometric analysis were performed at 2 and 8 weeks (n=4 animals per point in time) after surgery. Results: There was no noteworthy difference in the healing pattern, and no statistically significant differences in histomorphometric parameters such as the defect closure, new bone area, or total augmented area between the CC and CB groups. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that rabbit calvarial defects separated by a distance of 2 mm are suitable for evaluating the effects of BMP-2 and the control defect can be regarded not to be affected by BMP-2 applied defect.

The purpose of this study was to compare the distributing pattern of stress according to the types of occlusal load on the finite element models of the splinted implant prostheses. The finite element model was designed with the parallel placement of two fixtures ($4.0mm{\times}11.5mm$) on mandibular first and second molars. The cemented crowns for mandibular first and second molars were made. Three-dimensional finite element model was created with the components of the implant, surrounding bone and cemented crowns. Two types of occlusal load, the point load and the surface load within 0.5 mm radius circle, were applied to the finite element models with 200N magnitude in axial(along the long axis of the implant and oblique(angulation of $30^{\circ}$ to the long axis) directions perpendicular to cuspal incline. Loads were positioned from the center of central fossa and to distance of 2 mm and 4 mm apart from the center of central fossa. Von-Mises stresses were recorded and compared in the fixtures and sections. The results were as following : 1. Under axial loading at the central fossa, the stress was distributed along the fixture except for the apical portion, not relative to both point & surface contacts. 2. With offset distance increasing, the highest stresses were concentrated in the neck portion of the fixture. 3. The maximum von Mises stress under the oblique load was greater than that under the axial load. 4. Under the oblique load, the highest stress were concentrated in the buccal side and lingual neck portion of the fixture with offset distance increasing. The results had a tendency to increase the stress on the neck portion of fixture with the offset and oblique loads increasing. The design of occlusal scheme should be allowed to distribute stress axially in maximum intercuspation and to decrease the angulation of cuspal incline.

The paper introduces mobile handset multi-band chip antenna to be used on meander line PIFA structure and parasite patch. The proposed antenna uses an FR-4 substrate. The top layer is consist of meander lines PIFA structure to implement GSM900 and is connected with each rad and meander line on the via-hole for maximize space efficiency. The middle layer is designed with the signal line and gap to implement a DCS and PCS bands, the bottom layer which is added to a parasite patch on the ground can be show an adjust of frequency and impedance character by the connection of the radiators of middle layer and coupling. The fabricated antenna with the dimension of $28{\times}6{\times}4\;mm^3$. The ground plane a dimension of $45{\times}90\;mm$, designed by a commercial software CST simulator. The experimental results show that the bandwidth for(VSWR<3) is 90($875{\sim}965$) MHz in GSM900 band operation and 380($1,670{\sim}2,050$) MHz in DCS, PCS band operation. The maximum gains of antenna are 0.25 dBi, 3.65 dBi and 3.3 dBi at resonance frequencies and it has omni-directional pattern practically.
Eight male cattle of the Local Yellow breed with an average live weight of 121 kg and an average age of 18 months were used to evaluate the effects of different levels of sun-dried cassava (Manihot esculenta) foliage supplementation on mineral metabolism in growing cattle fed rice straw and para grass as basal diet. Rice straw ad libitum and para grass (Brachiaria mutica) at 1% DM of BW comprised the basal diet. The study was arranged as a $4{\times}4$ double Latin square design, with cassava foliage contributing 0, 0.8, 1.6 or 2.4 g CP/kg BW. The cassava foliage intake was lower than the planned levels. DM consumption was significantly affected by cassava foliage supplementation, with the largest intake observed at the two highest levels of cassava foliage supplementation. Rice straw intake showed the opposite pattern, with lower intake at higher cassava foliage supplementation. No refusals occurred for para grass in any of the treatments. Ca, P, Mg, K, S and Mn intake increased significantly with increasing intake of cassava foliage, but Na intake was not affected by treatment. Faecal excretion of Ca, Mg, S and Mn increased significantly with increasing cassava foliage intake. There were no differences between P, K and Na excretion in faeces. There was a significant diet effect on Mg, S and Mn digestibility. Mg and Mn digestibility increased with increasing cassava foliage supplementation, while S digestibility decreased. Ca, P, K and Na digestibility was not affected by diet. There was a significant effect of treatment on P retention, with the highest value observed for supplementation with 1.6 g CP/kg BW cassava foliage. Ca and Mg showed similar trends, with the highest retention again for supplementation with 1.6 g CP/kg BW cassava foliage. There were weak but significant positive correlations between nitrogen retention and the macro minerals Ca, P and Mg. Furthermore, retention of all these minerals was positively correlated. Mineral losses in urine were not affected by dietary treatment with the exception of P excretion, which was affected by treatment. In conclusion, cassava foliage is a good Ca source which compensates for the low Ca content in rice straw and para grass, but P deficiency appears to be exaggerated in cattle with higher cassava intake. The results suggest that under these conditions growing cattle on a high cassava intake would benefit from P and S supplementation.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) plate Is one of the alterative materials for soengthening of reinforced and prestressed connote members due to excellent strength and light weight In this paper, the behavior of beams strengthened with CFRP plate and CFS(Carbon fiber sheet) is observed and analyzed from the test results. Especially specimens with thick plate is tested when large moment and large shear lone appear in same position. The main failure mode is a peeling-off of the CFRP plate near the loading points due to flexural-shear crack, Because of this failure mode, failure load is not linearly proportional to the thickness of CFRP plates. When beam is wrapped with CFS around oかy loading point it does not influence on the failure loads. Depending on the loading pattern, it is necessary to consider different design criteria for reinforced concrete members with external reinforcement. When line moment and large shear force appear in same location, maximum thickness may limit to 0.6mm and ratio between moment of strengthened beam and moment of unstrengthened beam is proposed 1.5-2.0. In order to use the plate of thicker than 6mm, CFS may be extended to the location which moment of strengthened beam is 1.5 times than moment of unstrengthened beam.

This paper suggests a test and evaluation procedure of conformal load-bearing antenna structure(CLAS) for high speed military jet application. A log periodic patch type antenna was designed for multi-band communication and navigation antenna. Carbon/Glass fiber reinforced polymer was used as a structure supporting aerodynamic loads and honeycomb layer was used to improve antenna performance. Multi-layers were stacked and cured in a hot temperature oven. Gain, VSWR and polarization pattern of CLAS were measured using anechoic chamber within 0.15~2.0 GHz frequency range. Tension, shear, fatigue and impact load test were performed to evaluate structural strength of CLAS. Antenna performance test after every structural strength test was conducted to check the effect of structural test to antenna performance. After the application of new test and evaluation procedure to validate a new CLAS, a design improvement was found.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of alcohol on neurocognitive function, psychomotor performance and subjective response in healthy Korean adults with different ALDH2 genotypes. Method : A total of 24 males, half with active $ALDH2^*1/2^*1$ and the other with inactive $ALDH2^*1/2^*2$, was selected through genotyping using restriction fragment length polymorphism. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled cross-over design, each subject consumed 0.5g/kg dose of alcohol, given as a mixture of 40% vodka and orange juice, and placebo(orange juice) on two separate occasions on an average of weekly intervals. The blood alcohol concentrations(BACs) were measured using a breath analyzer at baseline and at 30, 60 minutes after drinking. P300s were measured at baseline and at 30 minutes after alcohol and placebo intake. Vital signs and psychomotor performance[Critical Flicker Fusion Threshold(CFFT), Choice Reaction Time (CRT), Digit Symbol Substitution(DSS)] were measured at baseline and at 60 minutes after alcohol and placebo intake. Subjective responses were measured at the end of the study. The statistical analysis focused on whether there were any differences between groups with different ALDH2 genotypes. Results : The major results are as follows. 1) BACs in the inactive group were overall equivalent to those in the active group. Only in terms of time, BACs were significantly higher overall at 30 minutes than at 60 minutes after alcohol intake. 2) Pulse rates were significantly increased after alcohol intake compared with placebo, and the increase was greater in the inactive than in the active group. 3) P300 latencies in leads Fz(frontal), Cz(cental) and Pz(parietal) were significantly increased after alcohol intake compared to placebo, and the increase was greater in the inactive than in the active group. P300 amplitudes in leads Cz and Pz were significantly decreased overall after alcohol intake compared to placebo. 4) Compared with placebo, alcohol produced significant effect on the psychomotor performance : impairment in the inactive group, improvement in the active group. 5) Compared with placebo, alcohol significantly induced a negative or an intense effect on the subjective responses in the inactive group, but little negative and even a somewhat positive effect in the active group. Conclusions : These results suggest that ALDH isozyme variance might be an important factor to determine the effects of acute dose of alcohol on the various psychobehavioural functions and also to determine the alcohol use pattern and to predict the future development of alcohol overuse and/or abuse.
With the wide applications of fiber-reinforced composite material in aero-structures and mechanical parts, the design of composite joints have become a very important research area because the joints are often the weakest areas in composite structures. This paper presents an analytical study of the stress distributions in mechanically single-fastened and multi-fastened composite laminates. The finite element models which treat the pin and hole contact problem using a contact stress analysis are described. A dimensionless stress concentration factor is used to compare the stress distributions in composite laminates quantitatively In the case of single-pin loaded composite laminate, the effects of stacking sequence, the ratio of a hole diameter and the width of a laminate (W/D ratio), the ratio of hole diameter and distance from edge to hole (E/D ratio), friction coefficient and clamping force are considered. In the case of multi-pin loaded composite laminate, the influence of the number of pins, pitch distance, number of rows, row spacing and hole pattern are considered. The results show that P/D ratio and E/D ratio affect more on stress distributions near the hole boundary than the other factors. In the case of multi-pin loaded composite laminate, the stress concentration in the double column case is better than the other cases of multi-pin loaded composite laminate.
This study was carried out to improve the performance of heat recovery device attached to exhaust gas flue connected to combustion chamber of greenhouse heating system. Three different units were prepared far the comparison of heat recovery performance; A-type is exactly the same with the typical one fabricated for previous study of analyzing heat recovery performance in greenhouse heating system, other two types (B-type and C-type) modified from the control unit are different in the aspects of airflow direction (U-turn airflow) and pipe arrangement. The results are summarized as follows ; 1. In the case of Type-A, when considering the initial cost and current electricity fee required for system operation, it was expected that one or two years at most would be enough to return the whole cost invested. 2. Type-B and Type-C, basically different with Type-A in the aspect of airflow pattern, are not sensitive to the change of blower capacity with higher than 25m$^3$.min$^{-1}$ . Therefore, heat recovery performance was not improved so significantly with the increment of blower capacity. This was assumed to be that air flow resistance in high air capacity reduced the heat exchange rate as well. Never the less, compared with control unit, resultant heat recovery rate of Type-B and Type-C was improved by about 5% and 13%, respectively 3. Desirable blower capacity of these heat recovery units experimented were expected to be about 25m$^3$.min$^{-1}$ , and at the proper blower capacity, U-turn airflow units showed better heat recovery performance than control unit. But, without regard to the type of heat recovery unit, it was recommended that comprehensive consideration of system's physical factors such as pipe arrangement density, unit pipe length and pipe thickness, etc., was required for the optimization of heat recovery system in the aspects of not only energy conservation but economic system design.

In this paper, a multimode feed horn antenna is suggested for a high power microwave(HPM) antenna system. The proposed HPM feed horn antenna which is connected with a mode converter is located between source and reflector antenna. A multimode feed horn antenna which has reduced -25 dB beamwidth is designed and fabricated for miniaturization of reflector antenna because -25 dB beamwidth which is determined by considering spillover of feed horn antenna decides a size of reflector in case of HPM. As a result, feed system which uses the multimode feed horn antenna has high gain about 27 dBi and return loss is less than -22 dB at 10 GHz. The measured -25 dB beamwidths of the radiation pattern at vertical, horizontal-plane equal to $20.24^{\circ},\;28.92^{\circ}$ which is less than about $10^{\circ}$ beamwidth of conventional feed system. Thus the suggested feed hem antenna is suitable to feed horn for miniaturization of HPM antenna system.
