Large deformation finite element analysis for automotive rubber components (자동차용 고무부품에 대한 대변형 유한요소해석)

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the static and dynamic characteristics of automotive rubber components by computer simulation. Bush / rectangular type engine mounts and wind shield weather strip are analyzed by using the commercial code ABAQUS and the results are verified by experiments. Large deformation static response is analyzed in order to get the information about the deformation pattern and static stiffness of engine mounts, and about the seperation force of wind shield weather strip from body. The isothermal steady-state dynamic response of components which have been subjected to an initial static pre-load is analyzed for the dynamic stiffness of engine mount rubber components. There are good agreements between simulation and experiments. So it is possible to apply the computer simulation to the design of automotive rubber components.

  • The effect of multiple process parameters on a set of continuous response variables is, especially in experimental designs, difficult and intricate to determine. Due to the complexity in aeroacoustic and vibroacoustic studies, the often-performed simple one-factor-at-a-time method turns out to be the least effective approach. In contrast, the statistical Design of Experiments is a technique used with the objective to maximize the obtained information while keeping the experimental effort at a minimum. The presented work aims at giving insights on Design of Experiments applied to aeroacoustic and vibroacoustic problems while comparing different experimental designs and approximation models. For this purpose, an experimental rig of a ducted low-pressure fan is developed that allows gathering data of both, aerodynamic and aeroacoustic nature while analysing three independent process parameters. The experimental designs used to sample the design space are a Central Composite design and a Box-Behnken design, both used to model a response surface regression, and Latin Hypercube sampling to model an Artificial Neural network. The results indicate that Latin Hypercube sampling extracts information that is more diverse and, in combination with an Artificial Neural network, outperforms the quadratic response surface regressions. It is shown that the Latin Hypercube sampling, initially developed for computer-aided experiments, can also be used as an experimental design. To further increase the benefit of the presented approach, spectral information of every experimental test point is extracted and Artificial Neural networks are chosen for modelling the spectral information since they show to be the most universal approximators.

  • The modeling and the numerical analysis are done so as to develop the Computer Aided Design program for the design of flow control valve attached to the vane pump. The factors affecting the flow rate characteristics, are analyzed by the experiments and the numerical methods. It is shown that the main factor affecting to the first control flow is the diameter of small rod of the spool, the main factor affecting to the second control flow is the diameter of big rod of the spool, the main factors affecting to the cut off are the main spring constant, the initial displacement of main spring and small diameter of the spool, and the dropping slope characteristics of flow rate are decided by the chamfer of spool and the dynamic characteristics of the spool.

  • There has been much advancement in the field of aerial cameras for geographical features with the help of drones, image processing power and computer aided optical programs. In this study, we propose a new optical lens design technique which minimizes the amount of ‘the third order Seidel aberration’ for enhancing MTF. In addition, we suggest a new optical lens design which stabilizes the mass-production yield through R.S.M and has robustness secure through the Taguchi method. Eventually, the image processing algorithm of stereo matching is implemented in order to evaluate whether the proposed lens design result meets adequate specifications for the use of dual aerial photographs or not. This paper provides good guidance for the optical design by development of experiments.

  • The authors investigate influences of manipulator dynamics on and roles of kinesthetic sensation and visual sensation in a Human-Machine Cooperative System (HMCS). At first, the general structure and essential transfer functions of HMCSs are described based on the previous work. Then, after showing theoretical treatment of manipulator dynamics, this paper analyzes the influences on HMCSs in two cases: one is the control design focusing on tool dynamics and reaction force transfer function, and the other is that specifies maneuver transfer function and transfer function for object dynamics variation. In addition to conventional experiments only employing kinesthetic sensation, other experiments with both kinesthetic and visual sensations are performed to examine difference in the roles of these sensations and the validity of the design without the visual sensation.

  • This paper presents the operational characteristics of a high voltage flyback converter with resonant elements. In high voltage low power applications, the effect of a transformer’s stray capacitance might be the most important factor that influences the overall performance of the circuit. A detailed mode analysis and the design procedure are presented in designing the high voltage flyback converter. To verify and confirm the validities of the presented analysis and design procedure, a computer simulation and experiments have been performed.

  • LMTT (Linear Motor-based Transfer Techn-ology) is a horizontal transfer system for the yard automation This system is based on PMLSM (Permanent Magnetic Linear Synchronous Motor) toot consists of stator modules on the rail and shuttle car. In this research, the kriging interpolation method with sequential sampling find the optimum design of mover in LMTT. The design variables are considered as the transverse, longitudinal and wheel beam's thicknesses. The objective function is set up as weight, while the constant function are set up as the stresses generated by four loading conditions. The objective function is set up as weight. The optimum results obtained by the suggested method are compared with those by the GENESIS.

  • Springs for vehicle suspension control the vibration of a car and influence on the ridability, safety, and life of a car. in the paper, the computer aided design program has been developed, which design the leaf spring shape from the given specifications using basic theory and the expert\`s knowledge, and the design results are checked by the analysis theory in order to increase the accuracy, and feed back to the design input. For the purpose of easy use, this program consists of pull-down menu and interactive input mode. To prove the effectiveness of this program, two springs, of which one is symmetric, other asymmetric, are designed and analyzed, and the outputs are compared to the experiments. Considering the tolerance of the given specifications, the results are good.

  • This paper studies computer programming for Two-Way Layout with Multiple Observations - Fixed Model using the subroutines of the former paper. The following items are considered in the PC computer programming: * significant digits in the computation of Sum of Squares * containing the necessary F-distribution values in the program * including the necessary estimation after the Analysis of Variance * following the rules of KS A 0021 in rounding off digits etc. The running results of Analysis of Variation Table and Estimations of a fictitious example is added with the parts of PC program. It should be mentioned that the main purpose of this paper is in the arousing of the discussion about significant digits concept in the PC computer programming for various kinds of Statistical Methods.

  • The butterfly valve has been used to control the switch and flux of fluid. While research about the characteristics of butterfly valve fluid have been done, study of the optimum design, considering structural safety, must keep pace with it. Thus, a method is proposed for an optimum butterfly valve. Initially, the stability of the butterfly valve, using FEM and CFD, is evaluated, and a variable is selected using the initial analysis results. Also, the shape optimization design is accomplished using the DACE model. In terms of research results, the experiment satisfied the objective and limitation functions.
