  • Braiding machines of maypole type have complex guide tracks. It is not easy to speed up drivers while carriers are moving at high speed. This paper presents a new design approach using dynamic analysis and modeling for moving carriers on the guide tracks. The proposed approach will be shown to be effective by using simulation tool, WORKING MODEL $2D^{\circledR}$, for high speed drivers on new models of braiding machines of maypole type.

  • Generally, a fixed type guide-bush system is installed during machining miniature work-pieces with high precision in the multi-task CNC lathe. But a conventional guide-bush system does not provide a constant clamping force under the condition of varying work-piece diameters. It is important to maintain a constant clamping force for guaranteeing machining precision. This paper proposes a new guide-bush system with a pneumatic clamping device for the CNC Swiss-turn lathe to keep constant clamping force with changes in work-piece diameters. Through performance tests, new clamping system developed in the study showed better machining precision at the cost of a small increase in the temperature of the system than conventional systems due to an increase in the frictional heat and a change in the heat transfer route.

  • Wind guide can be installed on the top of buildings to collect wind. In this study, optimum shape of wind guide is developed, and proposed to combinate with the vertical wind turbine. Impact of parameters for wind guide is analyzed with several cases planned by Taguchi test plan. Front angle, rear angle, and roof angle are selected as key variables and changed into four different levels. By the experimental plan, totally, 64 cases are reduced to 16 cases of analysis. With optimum design of wind guide, the installed vertical axis wind turbines can be operated with maximum power output.

  • The goal of our research is to develop a smart location-based self guided lour assistant as a context-aware real world application. As a context-aware tourist guide application, we hove been developing a PDA-based location-aware tourist guide application for the old palace Deoksugung in the center of Seoul. It will guide visitors to the palace with information about: current location, attractions nearby, and details about specific buildings. Rich multimedia support has been incorporated into the system to provide extra features to enhance the self-guided tour.

  • This paper presents a computer design program for In-Core Instrumentation(ICI) guide tube routing and locations on support system, and checking the interference between ICI guide tubes in the reactor coolant system of typical Pressurized Water Reactor. The program, ICITRIC, has been written in FORTRAN language which is available under UNIX environment. Results of this program are compared with those of the commercial code, PATRAN, and both results are almost same Also the results may provide input data for ICI system static and dynamic analysis performed by the commercial code, SUPER PIPE. This program can simulate ICI guide tube routing and locations on support system, and checking the interference between ICI guide tubes. Through a process of iteration, the designer can apply initial conditions, and modify the routing until satisfied with the overall system performance.

  • The goal of our research is to develop a smart context-aware guide system that provides a smart and personalized guide services based on implicit awareness of context. As a context-aware guide application, we have developed a location-aware smart bus guide system for Seoul based on PDA and GPS. It guides users to the nearby bus stops and provides users with information about the bus lines at the bus stops.

  • This study was conducted in order to assess whether the form of the shade guide affects in deciding the color of the teeth using the shade guide Eight shade light cured composite resins (Esthet-X, Dentsply, Milford, USA) were used in this study. Shade guides including the model of maxillary central incisors, teeth-form shade guide, doughnut form shade guide, and shade guide with perforated gray shield were prepared with eight shade composite resins and provided the codes randomly After arranging the models of teeth, 19 dentists working at the clinic of the Dentistry of Chonnam University Hospital and 65 students of college of dentistry, Chonnnam University selected the shade guides corresponding to the color of each tooth on the gray board under the D$_{65}$ standard illuminant. Bl shade showed highest accuracy of about 95% among all shade guides of 3 forms applied to the test and regardless of observer, tooth form shade guide showed the highest accuracy (p < 0.05) , and the doughnut form showed the lowest accuracy (p < 0.05). At the time of deciding on the color of the teeth using the shade guides as a result of above, the forms of the shade guides can affect the accuracy, and it suggests that the development of the diversified forms of shade guides, which may obtain more accurate results, is required.

  • In this paper, NRD guide band pass filter with newly designed inductive iris structure is proposed and analyzed with its test results. In case of common NRD guide filter with air gap coupled structure, it was not easy to fabricate and process or each NRD guide dielectric resonator blocks using PTFE. However, in this our research, each dielectric resonator fabricated in a single NRD guide is coupled with inductive iris located on metal plates. The structure is suitable for mass production of a precise and reliable millimeter-wave filter applications. As a result of measurements, designed NRD guide inductive iris filter has superior performance. The pass band is 38.66~39.06 MHz with 400 MHz bandwidth, insertion loss is about 1.4 dB and return loss is below -18 dB.

  • This paper dealt with a design guide of LED luminaires to replace the surface and watertight fluorescent lamp (FL) fixtures for naval vessels. Several standards such as Korean Industrial Standard (KS), Korea Defence Standard (KDS) and US Military Standard (MIL) were compared in terms of safety and performance of lighting fixtures. The electrical and optical characteristics like power consumption, total luminous flux, and illumination distribution of the FL fixtures were experimentally analyzed to acquire design rules for LED luminaires. Based on the results, four types of LED luminaires were fabricated, and we proposed a design guide of LED luminaires for naval vessels which save power consumption of 44~51 [%] and increase total luminous flux of 8~13 [%].

  • Hinged cross bar which is fitted for buyer's special item in cell guide of container vessels has an advantage of efficiency on container loading. In this paper, the main focus is to confirm the structural adequacy of hinged cross bar supporting structure in cell guide under the considered loading condition for container vessel.
