A Study on Design and Implementation of a Programming Teaching Model Using Emotional Intelligence

  • In this paper, we design a programming education model that uses emotional intelligence and apply the model to programming education in elementary school. In our previous work, we found that there is a meaningful correlation between emotional intelligence and programming ability. In this paper, as a follow-up study, we design a programming education model based on a storytelling model and emotional intelligence. In order to test the performance of the proposed model, we applied our proposed model to the 5th grade elementary school students who have no programming experience. Based on extensive survey work and statistical analysis, we found that the experimental group by the programming education using the emotional intelligence got a statistically significant higher achievement than the comparative group by the traditional programming education. We hope that our model will be helpful in programming education in schools.

BIM 개념을 적용한 건축공학설계교육 사례 분석 (A Case Study of Architectural Engineering Design Education using BIM Concept)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze a case study of the applicability of BIM concept in architectural engineering design education of 4-year architectural engineering program under ABEEK accreditation. The research method is to introduce a case of architectural engineering design studio and to compare the satisfaction of outcome between BIM S/W and conventional design process. The survey outcome reveals that the satisfaction of BIM S/W is relatively higher than the satisfaction of drawings by hands. The design education outcome is analyzed according the characteristics of expression, revision, relationship, and spatial understanding, etc.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the current theory education system and students'awareness about Korean identity by analysing four-year curricula of Interior design programs in domestic universities and questionnaires of 468 junior and senior students who have taken the history of interior design. This study is the first step of continuous research for establishing new model of education related to Korean tradition. Following three issues - $\circled1$degree of knowledge and awareness of Korean university students majoring interior design about Korean identity, $\circled2$extent of the coverage of theoretical education for korean tradition in curricula of interior programs, $\circled3$extent of the application of Korean identity as a design theme in studio classes - were mainly analysed.

  • Today the globalization has already penetrated into the education field. It accelerates the exchange and the sharing of the education systems over the world. In that situation, the education systems of USA or Japan were often introduced into our country, while those of Europe haven't been well introduced, less in the field of interior design education systems of Italy. Furthermore, it is necessary to examine objectively the present situations, because the education systems are usually easy to change according to the times. This research is wholly directed by my own experiences such as teaching and studying at Milan, Italy for the past four years. Also the research was continuously done with the data gathering after returning to my country. The detailed situations and characteristics of Politecnico di Milano would be compared to those of other interior design schools at Milan, Italy. I hope it will be an useful data for not only the professors and instructors but also the students who want to study in Italy.

  • This paper aims to analyse design conditions and propose schematic design for Galhyeon Elementary Middle School in Gwacheon. As for site conditions, it has the size of $32,000m^2$ and Hilly areas. And the area is surrounded high density housing. As a program, Education Facilities Bureau required to provide 36 classes and supporting facilities. To design the schemes, we followed the 7th education policy guidelines. During the design development stage, 3 alternatives are suggested as in the paper. However, staffs of Education Bureau and teachers favoured and selected our scheme, which gives symbolic image, as a new high school education environment.

  • The education for the disables has been eliminated till now, thus, it is very important that we take them as our real citizens and help them to improve their social standings and extend their chances for occupations. It's true that admissions into a university for the disabled have been promoted, but it's also true that their droppings out of college because of physical environments have been frequently found. Without data on the universal education surroundings and full understanding on the handicapped, making up the week points in the current surroundings is not useful for them in essence. This study is on the evaluating the korea national college of rehabilitation & welfare, set up for the disabled, by the universal design standards and analyzing their satisfaction with the education surroundings, in addition to that, improving on methods of universal education surroundings.
