  • The method of moment is applied to the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from an arbitrarily-shaped conductor. The conducting surface is discretized into triangular patches using a GID tool. Surface currents on a conductor are expanded with a vector triangle basis function. By using the Duffy's method, the singular integration appeared in a triangle patch can be transformed into the non-singular integral form suitable for one dimensional Gaussian quadrature integration method. Mutual and self integration extracted singular terms are evaluated by two dimensional Gaussian quadrature techniques.

  • In order to improve osseointegration of dental implants with bone we studied an implant with holes inside its body to deliver bioactive materials based on a proposed patent. Bioactive materials can be selectively applied through holes to a patient according to diagnosis and the integration progress. After the bioactive material is applied, bone can grow into the holes to increase implant bonding and also enhance surface integration. In order to improve the concept and study the effect of bioactive material injection on implant integration, design optimization and integration research were undertaken utilizing the finite element method. A 2-dimensional simulation study showed that when bone grew into the holes after the bioactive material was injected, stress vertically distributed in the upper part of the implant was relieved and mild stress appeared at the opening of the injection holes. This confirmed the effect of the bioactive material and the contribution of the injection holes, but the maximum stress increased ten-fold at the opening. In order to reduce the maximum stress, the size, location, and the number of holes were varied and the effects were studied. When bioactive materials formed an interface layer between the implant and the mandible and four holes were filled with cortical and cancellous bones all the stress concentrated opposite to the loading side without holes disappeared. The stresses at the four outlets of the holes was mildly elevated but the maximum stress value was ten-fold greater compared to the case without the bioactive material.

  • Recently, as the importance placed on the design phase of system development has increased, the use of diagrams to design the overall system before implementing the actual program code has seen a proportionate increase. This study focuses on the diverse diagrams depicting organizational processes when integrating multiple processes of individual organizations to form an Inter-Organizational System(IOS). In this study, we attempt to identify the critical representation features of process diagrams that enable the effective integration of Inter-Organizational processes. In particular, the effect of the mapping relationship between the representation features of different diagrams to be integrated was tested empirically in a laboratory setting. The experimental task consisted of integrating the processes of two organization based upon the given process diagrams. Actual business processes were selected from real world cases and process diagrams were formulated based upon existing object-oriented notation. An analysis of the errors committed by the subjects during the integration process indicated that the mapping relationship between the diagram features representing the respective organizational processes had a significant impact upon the final integration outcome. Based upon these results, the present study provides a guideline for process diagrams that are crucial to effective Inter-Organizational process implementation and maintenance.

The developed system was designed to be able to collect, process and analyze the agricultural water information of spatially dispersed reservoirs in whole country and spatial geographic information distributed in various systems of other organizations. The system, IaWAMISS, is also possible to provide the reproduced information services in each reservoir and space units, such as agricultural water demand and supply analysis and drought prediction, to the people, experts, and policy makers. This study defined the 6 step modules to develop the system, which are to design the components of intelligent integrated information system, to derive the utilization contents of existing systems, to design the new development elements for IaWAMISS, to design the reservoir information system can be used by managers of city and county, to designate the monitoring reservoirs managed by city and county, and finally to prepare the sharing system between organizations with the existing information systems. In order to implement the prototype of the system, this study shows the results for three important functions of the system: spatial integration of reservoirs' information, data link integration between the existing systems, and intelligent analysis program development to assist decision support for agricultural water management. For the spatial integration with the reservoir water information of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, this study get IaWAMISS to receive the real-time reservoir storage information from the measurement facility installed in the municipal management reservoir. The data link integration connecting databases of the existing systems, was implemented by integrating the meteorological information of the Korea Meteorological Administration with IaWAMISS, so that the rainfall forecast data could be derived and used. For the implementation of the intelligent analysis program, this study also showed the results of analysis and prediction of agricultural water demand and supply amount, estimation of Palmer drought index, analysis of flood risk area in typhoon course region, and analysis of the storage status of reservoirs related to each storm. This study confirmed the possibility and efficiency of an useful system development through the prototype design and implementation of IaWAMISS. • A design framework to employ the multidisciplinary design optimization technologies on a computer system has been developed and is named as the Extensible Multidisciplinary Design Integration and Optimization System (EMDIOS). The framework can not only effectively solve complex system design problems but also conveniently handle MDO problems. Since the EMDIOS exploits both state-of-the-art of computing capabilities and sophisticated optimization techniques, it can overcome many scalability and complexity problems. It can make users who are not even familiar with the optimization technology use EMDIOS easily to solve their design problems. The client of EMDIOS provides a front end for engineers to communicate the EMDIOS engine and the server controls and manages various resources luck as scheduler, analysis codes, and user interfaces. EMDIOS client supports data monitoring, design problem definition, request for analyses and other user tasks. Three main components of the EMDIOS are the Engineering Design Object Model which is a basic idea to construct EMDIOS, EMDIOS Language (EMDIO-L) which is a script language representing design problems, and visual modeling tools which can help engineers define design problems using graphical user interface. Several example problems are solved and EMDIOS has shown various capabilities such as ease of use, process integration, and optimization monitoring.

  • The goal of this research is to find the difference between F. Gehry's museum architecture's extremely abstract and chaotic space composition and that of other architect's. Gehry's four museum architectures built from late 1980s to 2000 were selected for analysis. Four more museums, built in the same era with the size of that (atypical) museums, were selected for comparative studies. Space Syntax, a quantitative analysis method for spatial configuration, is used to find the characteristics of internal spaces. The Result shows that Gehry's museum architectures' connectivity is 0.375 times bigger and integration is 0.731 times smaller than the compared museums. High connectivity suggests that their visitors could take diverse routes. Low integration implies that their routes are less efficient than the compared museums overall. Their intelligibility is slightly higher than the other museums. This means their visitors have comparatively high understanding of the internal space.

  • The purpose of this article is: firstly, to survey architect Rem Koolhaas' preservation theory by reviewing his essays, books, exhibitions, and research projects focusing on preservation-related issues; and secondly, to formally analyse OMA's remodeling projects from 1970's to the present. From this analysis, this article tries to classify OMA's remodeling projects into four distinct categories and to establish, respectively, four generally-applicable remodeling strategies: 1)'Interior-oriented', 2)'Juxtaposition', 3)'Infill' and 4)'Cohesion.' Finally, this article argues that these remodeling strategies can be interpreted as a consistent pursuit of integration of various programmatic elements.

  • In this paper, a design process is established by integrating aviation safety requirements for the development of general aviation aircraft. An Airworthiness-Design Integration System, which integrates certification requirements with the entire design/analysis process, is developed and presented. For the proposed system, KAS 23/FAR 23/AC 23/CS 23 certification regulations are analyzed to determine design constraints and system compliance checks and to construct an ER&G (Engineering Requirement and Guide) and a Design-Certification Related Table (DCRT). Furthermore, through building a DB (Data Base), the management of design and certification related resources for developing a FAR 23 class aircraft are made. Certification tools and resources are also efficiently managed by the DB. The connection between the certification requirements and the detailed design process is proposed in this system. Tracking of this proposed method is validated by configuring a USE CASE and a system. The Airworthiness-Design Integration system will be constructed based on the system's design plan, certification system, and usage scenarios.
