Interactive Typography is a process where a user communicates by interacting with text and a moving factor. This research covers interactive typography using real-time response to a user's gesture. In order to form a language-independent system, preprocessing of entered text data presents image data. This preprocessing is followed by recognizing the image data and the setting interaction points. This is done using computer vision technology such as the Harris corner detector and contour detection. User interaction is achieved using skeleton information tracked by a depth camera. By synchronizing the user's skeleton information acquired by Kinect (a depth camera,) and the typography components (interaction points), all user gestures are linked with the typography in real time. An experiment was conducted, in both English and Korean, where users showed an 81% satisfaction level using an interactive typography system where text components showed discrete movements in accordance with the users' gestures. Through this experiment, it was possible to ascertain that sensibility varied depending on the size and the speed of the text and interactive alteration. The results show that interactive typography can potentially be an accurate communication tool, and not merely a uniform text transmission system.

AR (Augmented Reality) is a technology that provides virtual content to the real world and provides additional information to objects in real-time through 3D content. In the past, a high-performance device was required to experience AR, but it was possible to implement AR more easily by improving mobile performance and mounting various sensors such as ToF (Time-of-Flight). Also, the importance of mobile augmented reality is growing with the commercialization of high-speed wireless Internet such as 5G. Thus, this paper proposes a system that can provide AR services via GNN (Graph Neural Network) using cameras and sensors on mobile devices. ToF of mobile devices is used to capture depth maps. A 3D point cloud was created using RGB images to distinguish specific colors of objects. Point clouds created with RGB images and Depth Map perform downsampling for smooth communication between mobile and server. Point clouds sent to the server are used for 3D object detection. The detection process determines the class of objects and uses one point in the 3D bounding box as an anchor point. AR contents are provided through app and web through class and anchor of the detected object.

Recently, computer vision research using light field cameras has been actively conducted. Since light field cameras have spatial information, various studies are being conducted in fields such as depth map estimation, super resolution, and 3D object detection. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting objects in blur images through a 7×7 array of images acquired through a light field camera. The blur image, which is weak in the existing camera, is detected through the light field camera. The proposed method uses the SSD algorithm to evaluate the performance using blur images acquired from light field cameras.

This research delves into the evaluation of the suitability of ultrasonic pulse velocity as a diagnostic tool for early detection of frost damage in concrete. The investigation involves the measurement of compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity concerning the depth of freezing for individual mortar specimens, followed by an analysis of their microstructure and their interrelation. The findings indicate a consistent decrease in both compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity with increasing freezing depth. Furthermore, a correlation between compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity concerning the depth of early frost damage is established. Consequently, the study asserts the potential of utilizing the ultrasonic pulse velocity method for early detection of frost damage in concrete, with prospects for quantifying the depth of damage through further research endeavors.

Probing inside of concrete structures is one of the important steps in assessing condition of the structure. For the assessment, electromagnetic induction method and electromagnetic wave method are currently applied to the measurement of cover depth, and the detection of reinforcement embedded in concrete. To determine detection capability of locating reinforcement embedded in concrete, commercially available nondestructive testing (NDT) equipments have been tested. The equipments include electromagnetic wave system and electromagnetic induction system. In the tests, nine concrete specimens which have the dimensions of 1,000mm(length))${\times}$300mm(width) with thickness varying from 125mm to 150mm are used. The reinforcement are located at 45, 60, 100mm depth from the concrete surface. Horizontal reinforcement spacing has been set over 100mm. From the outcome, it is shown that error is increased as the diameter of reinforcement enlarge in case of using electromagnetic induction method. In case of using electromagnetic wave method, the detection of reinforcement embedded in deep is good in the view of reliability because of using the relative permittivity on the real cover depth.
Robotic grasping in unstructured environments poses a significant challenge, demanding precise estimation of gripping positions for diverse and unknown objects. Generative Grasping Convolution Neural Network (GG-CNN) can estimate the position and direction that can be gripped by a robot gripper for an unknown object based on a three-dimensional depth map. Since GG-CNN uses only a depth map as an input, the precision of the depth map is the most critical factor affecting the result. To address the challenge of depth map precision, we integrate the Segment Anything Model renowned for its robust zero-shot performance across various segmentation tasks. We adjust the components corresponding to the segmented areas in the depth map aligned through external calibration. The proposed method was validated on the Cornell dataset and SurgicalKit dataset. Quantitative analysis compared to existing methods showed a 49.8% improvement with the dataset including surgical instruments. The results highlight the practical importance of our approach, especially in scenarios involving thin and metallic objects.

Hand shape recognition is a fundamental technique for implementing natural human-computer interaction. In this paper, we discuss a method for effectively detecting a hand region in Kinect-based hand shape recognition. Since Kinect is a camera that can capture color images and infrared images (or depth images) together, both images can be exploited for the process of detecting a hand region. That is, a hand region can be detected by finding pixels having skin colors or by finding pixels having a specific depth. Therefore, after analyzing the performance of each, we need a method of properly combining both to clearly extract the silhouette of hand region. This is because the hand shape recognition rate depends on the fineness of detected silhouette. Finally, through comparison of hand shape recognition rates resulted from different hand region detection methods in general environments, we propose a high-performance hand region detection method.

Many ground subsidence accidents have happened in Korea. The accident was caused by the subsidence and leakage of the deteriorated sewage pipe. This study aims to establish the empirical data of the ground penetration radar(GPR) detection for ground subsidence. A test bed was also manufactured for the same purpose. The GPR detection variables are embedment depth and horizontal distance of embedded cast iron pipe and expanded polystyrene(EPS). From the detection results, the EPS embedded by a depth of 1.5m was difficult for detection. The EPS closely embedded to the cast iron pipe within a 0.5m distance had a very strong cast iron pipe signal. Therefore, the detection was impossible. This study developed an image processing program, called the GPR image processing program(GPRiPP), to process the GPR detection results. Its major function is the gain function, which amplifies the wiggle wave signal. Compared to the existing programs, the GPRiPP is capable of showing a similar image processing performance.

To get the empirical data of GPR detection and to develop the image prosessing program of GPR detection data, GPR detection were proceed by the underground pipes and cavities buried in the Chamber. In the case of non pavement and asphalt pavement, water filled cavity that was buried in 0.7m depth was able to detection. But in the case of 1.0 m and 1.3 m buring depth, water filled cavity was not able to detection. In the case of non-reinforced and reinforced concrete pavement, it was difficult to detect the cavity caused by signal interference. GPRiPP programs was developed for image processing of the GPR detection data. The major processing algorithm were background removal, stacking and gain function. With proper image processing of gain function and background removal in GPRiPP program, it was showed that similar results can be obtained with conventional image processing program.
