  • This study aimed to establish a field observation system for monitoring tempo-spatially precise changes of groundwater level and to analyze the impact of rainfall and irrigation practices on groundwater changes in paddy regions. The monitoring system comprising of all nine groundwater observation wells and four ponding depth sensors was installed in a part of paddy regions benefited from Gosam reservoir, Ansung-si. The result of grundwater level change during the irrigation period in 2002 was averagely 0.51 m higher than that during the non-irrigation period. In particular between March before puddling and June after transplanting, there was maximum 1.23 m rise in groundwater level. On the other hand, concerning the change in ponding depth, groundwater level changed similarly, and hourly rainfall was revealed to have better correlation with 24-hour delayed hourly groundwater level than with the corresponding groundwater level. Eventually, this study could be referenced for further studies to set up a more comprehensive and sustainable monitoring system of groundwater conditions.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinical changes in graft size after treatment with strip gingival autograft in human. 57 premolar teeth in 27 patients having the following mucogingival problems were selected. The width of extension, attached gingiva including free marginal gingiva, width of transplant and clinical sulcus depth were measured at the initial examination, 2, 12 and 24 weeks following the strip gingival autograft and free gingival autograft. The change of width of extension, attached gingiva including free marginal gingiva, width of transplant and clinical sulcus depth according to healing process in both graft procedures was statistically analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA test and independent t-test using SPSS program. The results were as follows : 1. The change of keratinized gingiva in both graft procedures was increased significantly at 24 weeks post-op. 2. The clinical sulcus depth exhibited no marked changes throughout the entire investigation in both graft procedures. 3. No dimensional variation was seen in graft size in both graft procedures. 4. Shrinkage did not differ significantly in both graft procedures. From the day of grafting to 24 weeks after surgery the percentages of shrinkage were : strip gingival autograft 28% and free gingival autograft 29%.

  • A graph traversal technique is a certain pattern of visiting nodes of a graph. Many special traversal techniques have been applied to solve graph related problems. For example, the depth first search technique has been used for finding strongly onnected components of a directed graph or biconnected components of a general graph. The distributed protocol to implement his depth first search technique on the distributed network can be divided into a fixed topology problem where there is no topological change and a dynamic topology problem which has some topological changes. Therefore, in this paper, we present a more efficient distributed depth first search protocol with fixed topology and a resilient distributed depth first search protocol where there are topological changes for the distributed network. Also, we analysed the message and time complexity of the presented protocols and showed the improved results than the complexities of the other distributed depth first search protocols.

  • The objective of this study was to grasp the condition of the distribution of water temperature in the warm water pool, and these observations were performed in Wudu warm water pool located at Wodu-Dong in Chuncheon. The results summarized in this study are as follows; 1. The horizontal distribution charts of water temperature at each depth of points were shown as Fig. 3, Fig. 4, and Fig. 5, respectively. In consequence of the observation, the condition of warm water was stagnant in the coner of warm water pool. As the result, it was found out that stagnant condition was the heaviest at water surface (depth; 0.05m), more heavier at middle depth (depth; 0.55m) and some heavy at bottom of the pool (depth; 1.10m). 2. The vertical water temperature change was shown as Fig. 6, and the mean water temperature of water surface (depth;0.05m) was higher about $2.2{\sim}3.3^{\circ}C$ than bottom water temperature. 3. Therefore, it was required to device such structures as form of broad cannels or overflow diversion weirs to mingle with top and bottom water.

  • Plant root penetration through soil profile is restricted by compacted layer such as plow pan under conventional tillage. For detecting the compact layer, we made a graduated T-shape probe and measured compared between the depths with rapid change in feeling hardness of hand penetration using T-shape probe and with a rapid increase of penetrometer cone index. On upland crops, including red pepper, corn, soybean and cucumber, plow pan depth ranged from 10 cm to 25 cm depth. The effective rooting depth (ER) had significant correlation with the plow pan depth (PP) except soils with the shallow ground water and/or poorly drained soil. The regression equation was ER = 0.9*PP ($R^2=0.54^{**}$, N = 14) with the applicative PP range of 10-25 cm.

  • In this study, we derived work-hardening exponent using continuous indentation test technique. Continuous indentation test technique is a powerful method to evaluate mechanical properties, such as hardness, modulus, ${\sigma}-{\varepsilon}$ curves and etc. It has many merits conventional indentation test has. The relationship between true stress and mean contact pressure and between strain and indentation depth were derived. While the indenter pushes the materials, the region around the indenter is deflected elastically. It is called elastic deflection. And pile-up phenomenon related to plastic deformation around the indenter increased the contact depth, and sink-in phenomenon decreases. So we calibrated contact depth change by considering elastic deflection and pile-up/sink-in. Using calibrated contact depth we redefined the relationship between true stress and mean contact pressure and between strain and contact depth. Through these relationship we could derive work-hardening exponent by analyzing load-depth curves. And it showed good agreement with tensile test results.

  • Depth estimation is one of the most complicated and difficult problems to deal with in the light field. In this paper, a compound attention convolutional neural network (CAttNet) is proposed to extract depth maps from light field images. To make more effective use of the sub-aperture images (SAIs) of light field and reduce the redundancy in SAIs, we use a compound attention mechanism to weigh the channel and space of the feature map after extracting the primary features, so it can more efficiently select the required view and the important area within the view. We modified various layers of feature extraction to make it more efficient and useful to extract features without adding parameters. By exploring the characteristics of light field, we increased the network depth and optimized the network structure to reduce the adverse impact of this change. CAttNet can efficiently utilize different SAIs correlations and features to generate a high-quality light field depth map. The experimental results show that CAttNet has advantages in both accuracy and time.

  • It is significantly important problem in computer what is estimating 3D information from 2D images. However, most of the related works have been interested in the analysis of the changes of 2D image, so that, they need much time to solve the complex equation and expensive device. In this paper, we first actively project the pattern of the sinusoidal wave into the object. Then, we measure the change of the phase from the distortion occurring according to the shape of the object, and we use the change of the phase in order to estimate the depth information. This is our proposal.

  • For the current study, five Asian English teachers participated in their case studies to investigate an in-depth understanding of their beliefs about teaching and learning English as a foreign language. Data were collected through structured and unstructured interviews, written documents, observations of teacher-participants' micro teaching, a research methodology journal and a self-reflection journal. This study described the beliefs that Asian English teachers brought to the teacher preparation program and examined to see if these teacher-participants who were involved in case studies perceived change in their beliefs. The study found that formal and informal learning experiences greatly shaped the way teacher-participants' beliefs about the way learning and teaching ought to be. In addition, early experiences of learning and teaching influenced teacher-participants' change in beliefs.

  • This study was investigated the effect of heat treatment on the microstructure and hardness of internally hardened ductile cast iron roll. The following conclusions were obtained. Some of the graphite was decreased and a bainite was produced by heat treatment. It decreased due to the decomposition of some of the cementite precipitated in the as-cast by heat treatment, but there was no significant change when it reached a certain depth. Hardness increased due to formation of bainite by heat treatment. On the surface, the hardness decreased due to the decrease in the amount of transformation of cementite into bainite, but there was no change beyond a certain depth.
