  • For the reliability of controllers in a software defined network (SDN), a dynamic and self-learning schedule method (DSL) is proposed. This method is original and easy to deploy, and optimizes the combination of multiple controllers. First, we summarize multiple controllers' combinations and schedule problems in an SDN and analyze its reliability. Then, we introduce the architecture of the schedule method and evaluate multi-controller reliability, the DSL method, and its optimized solution. By continually and statistically learning the information about controller reliability, this method treats it as a metric to schedule controllers. Finally, we compare and test the method using a given testing scenario based on an SDN network simulator. The experiment results show that the DSL method can significantly improve the total reliability of an SDN compared with a random schedule, and the proposed optimization algorithm has higher efficiency than an exhaustive search.

  • Virtualisation in cloud computing is vital for maintaining maximum resource utilization and easy access to operation and storage management of components. Platform virtualisation technology has the potential to be easily implemented with the support of scalability and security, which are the most important components for cloud-based services. Virtual resources must be allocated to a centralized pool called the cloud, and it is considered as cloud computing only when the virtual resources are orchestrated through management and automation software. Therefore, research and development on the latest technology for such a virtualisation platform provides both academia and industry the scope to deploy the fastest and most reliable technology in limited hardware resource. In this research, we reviewed and compared the popular current technologies for network and service management and automation technology.

  • CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) has been recognized as a critical method to validate the competitiveness of software development organization since its introduction. CMMI imposes additional requirements on the software development organization which has been established and certified to the ISO 9001 quality management system. This paper reviews the similarities and differences between CMMI and ISO 9001. This paper also examines what ate required to deploy the CMMI on the aircraft software development organization which has been certified to ISO 9001. The results of this study will help software development organization to provide the direction for implementing CMMI. Some suggestions are presented to identify and strengthen the weak portion of the software process quality management system.

  • Many companies use models or knowledge management information that suit the industrial epoch. Far from benefiting these organizations, these outdated models seriously undermine their information strategies. This paper examines the key assumptions of any information strategy and demonstrates why they should be considered afresh. Based on this discussion, we proposes a new perspective on knowledge management and suggests how managers can effectively deploy it in the new world of E-business.

  • The successful development of science parks is dependent on the relevance and delivery of a range of value propositions they offer to their stakeholders. Experience has shown that the benefits of these value propositions are 'place based' and 'time dependent', influenced by the prevailing technology, social and business environments in which they operate, and the relationship that is developed between entrepreneurs, corporates, academia and government in creating these projects, and their performance is dependent on economic, physical and networking assets they create and deploy. This paper looks at some of the history that has influenced the development of parks, lessons learnt from their planning, development and operation. It reviews these details in the context of delivering value propositions in the context of temporal, spatial, technology and entrepreneurial profile of the new idea of 'innovation districts', influencing 'city planning' and supporting 'smart specialisation strategies'.

  • Purpose - This paper addresses the role of designers in design-oriented firms and how they should work together with other organization members. The aim of this paper is to investigate how designers generate ideas and cooperate with others as well as how their participation in decision-making reflects on corporate design strategies. Research design, data, and methodology - An in-depth exploratory study examined how designers actually perform their roles in enterprises; in addition, information, knowledge, communication among designers, and sources of creativity were examined. Hanssem and Ikea grew as design-intensive businesses in a declining industry. Data were obtained from interviews with the design staff of each company as well as secondary sources. Results - Designers were found to use their designs to communicate with customers as well as with communities outside of the enterprise; they also participated in overall decision-making in relation to important design strategies. Conclusions - This study emphasized the increasing importance of the innovative and creative role of designers; thus, it might substantially help companies to develop their own design capabilities and deploy design strategies.

  • The basic idea of Quality Function Deployment(QFD) is to deploy the voice of customers into the final product through product planning, part planning, process planning, and manufacturing. In the product planning stage, which is the first stage of product development, customer attributes(CAs) are translated into engineering characteristics(ECs). Then, based on the relationship between CAs and ECs, the target values of ECs are determined. In the previous research, the process of analyzing these relationships is mostly subjective in nature. In this article, we formulate the process of determining the target values of ECs as an optimization model. That is, we first determine the relationship between CAs and ECs as cumulative logit models and construct constraints into which the company strategy as well as the needs of customers can be incorprated. Next, cost functions of ECs are developed, which are summed into an objective function. An algorithm to solve the formulated optimization problem is developed and illustrated with an example.

  • Sensor network has been a hot research topic for the past decade and has moved its phase into using multimedia sensors such as cameras and microphones [1]. Combining many types of sensor data will lead to more accurate and precise information of the environment. However, the use of sensor network data is still limited to closed circumstances. Thus, in this paper, we propose a web-service based framework to deploy multimedia sensor networks. In order to unify different types of sensor data and also to support heterogeneous client applications, we used ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture [2]).

  • Speed enforcement is one of the major challenges in traffic safety. The increasing number of accidents and fatalities has led governments to respond by implementing an intelligent control system. For example, the Korean government implemented a speed camera system for maintaining road safety. However, many drivers still engage in speeding behavior in blackspot areas where speed cameras are not provided. Therefore, we propose a methodology to analyze the combined accident and speeding data to offer recommendations to maintain traffic safety. We investigate three factors: "section," "existing speed camera location," and "over speeding data." To interpret the results, we used the QGIS tool for visualizing the spatial distribution of the incidents. Finally, we provide four recommendations based on the three aforementioned factors: "investigate with experts," "no action," "install fixed speed cameras," and "deploy mobile speed cameras."
