The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of lateral position and chest percussion on gas exchange in the decreased level of conscious patients. The Subjects for this study were 21 patients' admitted in ICU of CNUH from Dec 18th, 1989 to Aug 4th, 1990. The Data was analyzed by paired t - test. The results of this study as follows ; 1) In comparison of supine position, good -lung dependent position and good - lung dependent with chest percussion, the difference of PaO ㆍ was statistically significant (P<0.05). 2) In comparison of supine position, good -lung dependent position and good - lung dependent with chest percussion, the difference of A-a Do ㆍ was statistically significant (p<0.05). En conclusion, the use of good -lung dependent position and chest percussion was effective nursing intervention on decreased level of conscious patients in ICU.
A canonical transformation changes variables such as coordinates and momenta to new variables preserving either the Poisson bracket or the commutation relations depending on whether the problem is classical or quantal respectively. Classically canonical transformations are well established as a powerful tool for solving differential equations. Quantum canonical transformations have been defined and used relatively recently because of the non-commutativeness of the quantum variables. Three elementary canonical transformations and their composite transformations have quantum implementations. Quantum canonical transformations have been mostly used in time-independent Schrodinger equations and a harmonic oscillator with time-dependent angular frequency is probably the only time-dependent problem solved by these transformations. In this work, we apply quantum canonical transformations to a harmonic oscillator in which both angular frequency and equilibrium position are time-dependent.

Static muscle contractions when prolonged or frequently repeated result in discomfort, fatigue, and musculosketal injuries. An analytic and quantitative model has been developed in order to expand the working knowledge on muscle fatigue. In this paper, three Markov models of muscle fatigue are developed. These models are based on motor unit fatigue-recovery characteristics obtained from information on motor unit behavior as it relates to fatigue and graded exertions. Three successively more realistic models are developed that involve: (1) homogeneous motor units with intensity-dependent fatigue rates and state-independent recovery rates (the HMSI model); (2) homogeneous motor units, intensity-dependent fatigue rates and state-dependent recovery rates (the HMSD model); and (3) non-homogeneous motor units (i.e., Type S and Type F), intensity-dependent fatigue rates and state-dependent recovery rates (the HMSD model). The result indicate that a simple stochastic model provide a means to analyze the complex nature of muscle fatigue in sequential static exertions.
Regression analysis has become a standard statistical tool in the behavioral science. Because of its widespread popularity. regression has been often misused. Such is the case when the dependent variable is a qualitative measure rather than a continuous, interval measure. Regression estimates with a qualitative dependent variable does not meet the assumptions underlying regression. It can lead to serious errors in the standard statistical inference. Logit model is recommended as alternatives to the regression model for qualitative dependent variables. Researchers can employ this model to measure the relationship between independent variables and qualitative dependent variables without assuming that logit model was derived from probabilistic choice theory. Coefficients in logit model are typically estimated by the method of Maximum Likelihood Estimation in contrast to ordinary regression model which estimated by the method of Least Squares Estimation. Goodness of fit in logit model is based on the likelihood ratio statistics and the t-statistics is used for testing the null hypothesis.

Two exponential inequalities are established for a wide class of general weakly dependent sequences of random variables, called ${\psi}$-weakly dependent process which unify weak dependence conditions such as mixing, association, Gaussian sequences and Bernoulli shifts. The ${\psi}$-weakly dependent process includes, for examples, stationary ARMA processes, bilinear processes, and threshold autoregressive processes, and includes essentially all classes of weakly dependent stationary processes of interest in statistics under natural conditions on the process parameters. The two exponential inequalities are established on more general conditions than some existing ones, and are proven in simpler ways.

In this paper a novel robust adaptive fuzzy controller for the nonlinear system with state-dependent uncertainty is proposed. The conventional adaptive fuzzy controller determines the function of state variable bounding the state-dependent uncertain term in the system dynamics on the local state space by off-line calculation. Whereas the proposed method determines that function by the fuzzy inference so that it guarantees the stability of the closed loop system globally on the whole state space. In addition, the method is applicable to the multi-input system. We applied the proposed method to the Burn Control of the Tokamak fusion reactor whose dynamics contains the state-dependent uncertainty and proved the effectiveness of the scheme by using the simulation results.
This paper considers a unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem with ready times, due times and sequence and machine-dependent setup times. The objective of this problem is to determine the allocation of jobs and the scheduling of machines to minimize the total tardy time. A mathematical model for optimal solution is derived. An in-depth analysis of the model shows that it is very complicated and difficult to obtain optimal solutions as the problem size becomes large. Therefore, a genetic algorithm using an effective dispatching method is proposed. The performance of the proposed genetic algorithm is evaluated using several randomly generated examples.
Metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR)-dependent long-term depression (LTD), a type of synaptic plasticity, is characterized by a reduction in the synaptic response, mainly at the excitatory synapses of the neurons. The hippocampus and the cerebellum have been the most extensively studied regions in mGluR-dependent LTD, and Group 1 mGluR has been reported to be mainly involved in this synaptic LTD at excitatory synapses. However, mGluR-dependent LTD in other brain regions may be involved in the specific behaviors or diseases. In this paper, we focus on five cortical regions and review the literature that implicates their contribution to the pathogenesis of several behaviors and specific conditions associated with mGluR-dependent LTD.
Let {$X_n,n{\geq}1$} be a sequence of negatively superadditive dependent random variables. In the paper, we study the strong law of large numbers for general weighted sums ${\frac{1}{g(n)}}{\sum_{i=1}^{n}}{\frac{X_i}{h(i)}}$ of negatively superadditive dependent random variables with non-identical distribution. Some sufficient conditions for the strong law of large numbers are provided. As applications, the Kolmogorov strong law of large numbers and Marcinkiewicz-Zygmund strong law of large numbers for negatively superadditive dependent random variables are obtained. Our results generalize the corresponding ones for independent random variables and negatively associated random variables.

Vehicle routing problem is one of the traveling salesman problems with various conditions such as vehicle capacity limits, delivery time windows, as well as time dependent speeds in metropolitan area. In this research hourly vehicle moving speeds information in a typical metropolitan area are analyzed to use the results in the design procedure of VRP heuristic. Quality initial vehicle routing solutions can be obtained with adaption of the analysed results of the time periods with no vehicle speed changes. This strategy makes complicated time dependent vehicle speed simple to solve. Time dependent vehicle speeds are too important to ignore to obtain optimum vehicle routing search for real life logistics systems.
