  • This study empirically investigated the effects of the target costing system as well as information technology(IT) infrastructure on the knowledge management processes(i.e., socialization, externalization, combination and internalization) and the performance of a firm. This study also examined an impact of the social capital(i.e., inter-departmental communication, trust, cooperation and integration) on the adoption and development of the target costing and the IT infrastructure. The results of this study showed that inter-departmental communication, trust and integration have a significant positive impact on the adoption of the target costing. It was also found that the effects of inter-departmental communication and integration on the development of storage and transfer infrastructure are significant and positive. However, in the adoption of search infrastructure, only the impact of inter-departmental integration was significant. The results of regression analyses presented that the target costing has significant influence on the four processes of knowledge management. It was also observed that the effects of storage and transfer infrastructure on combination are significant and positive. In search infrastructure, the impact on combination and internalization was significant. According to the results of this study, it was found that when the adoption level of the target costing is high, search infrastructure mainly affects the three processes(i.e., socialization, combination and internalization). However, under a low adoption level of the target costing, the impact of storage and transfer infrastructure on the whole processes was significant and positive. Thus, it is assumed that storage and transfer infrastructure complements a low level of the target costing adoption through the active transfer and sharing of explicit and tacit knowledge.

  • This study attempts to analyse factors that influence the level of career decision for prospective librarians. To this end, an empirical study was conducted on the students from the department of Library & Information Science at universities located in Seoul, Gyeong Gi and Chung Cheong Areas. Exogenous variables included curriculum, career-related departmental activities, and librarian-related institutional factors. The result of analysis using the Structural Equation Model reveals that career-related departmental activities are preceding factors which affect the level of career decision and that personality types function as a modulator. This suggests that, in order to raise the career decision level, prospective librarians need to participate in career-related departmental activities, which make it easier to share information regarding career and thus enhance the level of career. Such career-related departmental activities include participating in job-oriented circles and career-consulting programs, communicating with seniors, and operating and joining career programs. Further organizational and institutional development is required : better curriculum, improved practical ability and qualifications as librarians. This study also discusses its limits and areas for future research.

  • The development and integration of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have consistently attracted attention from software engineering researchers. Many studies have examined the factors that influence successful ERP integration, while others have focused on introducing integration models that address issues and challenges that affect the successful integration of ERP. However, it is crucial to recognize that the key player in successful integration is the individual involved. This paper aims to investigate how individuals based on departmental attachments and experiences have viewed the factors that affected the success of ERP integration. A case study was conducted at one large organization namely Umm Al Qura University, Saudi Arabia. Five departments were involved namely: Financial management, purchasing management, warehouse management, human resources management, and the Deanship of Information Technology. The results of 78 participants were collected and analyzed. Furthermore, it was different how individuals from different departments involved in the ERP integration viewed the factors that affected the success of integration. In addition, it was noticed that individuals with different experiences have various views on the factors. Moreover, it was evident that departmental attachments and individual experience might play a role in the successful integration of ERP.

  • Due to the division of China's departmental laws, the disconnect between theory and practice, and the influence of traditional academic thinking on the understanding of the knowledge structure of arbitration legal talents in practice, the construction of law school colleges, teaching teams, and research centers mostly revolves around departmental laws, tearing the connection of the arbitration legal system. The student-centered, process-guaranteed, and result-oriented arbitration master of law training model is "virtualized," the shaping of arbitration professionalism is ignored, the coverage of practical teaching is narrowed, and the arbitration legal profession is mostly formalized. The prevalence of specialized curriculum systems shortage, single faculty, formalized practical teaching, outdated curriculum settings, unsuitable curriculum system design for development, and inaccurate professional curriculum standards and positioning renders it difficult to integrate the "Belt and Road." The cutting-edge, the latest research results, and practical experience cannot reflect the connotation, goals, and requirements of "Entrepreneurship" education, as well as arbitral issues such as the ineffective monitoring of practical education and the inconsistent evaluation of standards and scales. Under the background of the "Belt and Road," based on system theory and practice and through training goals that innovate and initiate organizational form, activity content, management characteristics, assessment and support conditions, etc., the arbitration law teaching curriculum system is gradually improved and integrated. Through the establishment of a "Belt and Road" arbitration case file database and other measures, a complete arbitration law theory and practice teaching guarantee system has been established. Third parties are introduced, arbitration law experimental modules are developed, students are guided how to discover new knowledge, new contents are mastered, solidarity, cooperation, and problem-solving capabilities are cultivated in the practice of the "Belt and Road," and quality education, vocational education, and innovation education are organically integrated. In order to implement the requirements of arbitration law education, innovation development and collaborative management of arbitration law teaching practice base should be cultivated, thus giving full play to the effect of collaborative education between universities and arbitration institutions.

  • During the whole product design and development processes, the concurrent engineering relies on strong and permanent interactions between the departmental functions. Concurrent or simultaneous engineering in new product development is a new concept which needs to be redefined. This paper deals with a concurrent engineering model which represents how concurrency, as an organizational process, is related to a interfunctional project team. Four dimensions shaping the sucess of the concurrent engineering are suggested with detailed meausrement instruments. Moreover, an empirical study on the effects of the four dimensions on the efficiency of the product development processes is carried out in the field of electronic industries.

  • Weight of the factors to be considered in layout development with improvement-type heuristics is discussed in this paper. Determination of weight is especially important if it is designed to be used with an improvement-type heuristic. It is same as the value of variable coefficients in a multi-objective function as well as indices for departmental switching orders in the heuristic. Various weights are examined through computer simulation to verify whether the numerical values collected from machinery industries can be used as weights. And then a method to be used for searching an optimum or optimum-tending layout for machinery industries is presented using the weight.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to develop a predictive model for patient visibility in Korean ICUs (corridor or continental type). Methods: The measures of static visibility were used to quantify the patient visibility (upper third part of the patient bed) from the nurse station. The measure of space programme and area distribution (patient zone percentage, staff zone percentage and departmental gross square meter per patient bed) were calculated by using AutoCAD and MS Excel programs. Regression analysis was conducted for visibility as dependant variable with independent variables of patient area percentage, staff area percentage as well as departmental gross square meter per bed by using IBM SPSS. Results: (1) Average patient visibility and percentage of patient area in ICU shows a strong negative correlation ($r^2$=0.66), p=0.01. (2) Patient visibility in Korean ICU (corridor or continental type) can be calculated as below with the given conditions: Y= $-1.449(X)+124.3{\pm}6$, Y is the total visibility of the ICU (corridor or continental type) and X is the percentage of patient area in the unit. Conditions:1. Given that the unit has a mixed programme of open bed and closed patient rooms and 2. The unit have a minimum of 20% patient rooms. Implications: This study may contribute to the visibility analysis of existing and future ICU design (corridor or continental type) in Korea to achieve maximum patient visibility and reduced patient mortality.
