The Effects of Gamisachi-tang on the Serotonin Contents in Separate Brain Region of Mice Immobilized by Stress (가미사칠탕(加味四七湯)이 구속 Stress 생쥐의 뇌 부위별 Serotonin 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • Background and Objectives ; This experimental study was conducted to evaluate an anti-stress effect of Gamisachi-tang(加味四七湯) on mice immobilized by stress. Methods : The experimental animals were immobilized by stress for 15 minutes, and administered 9mg/20g or 18mg/20g of Gamisachi-tang(加味四七湯) extract for seven days before they got stressed. The serotonin contents in the frontal cortex, hypothalamus, corpus striatum, hippocampus were measured by HPLC method in rat brain. Results : In frontal cortex, serotonin contents significantly decreased in both sample A and B group compared to the controlled group. In the hypothalamus, serotonin contents increased in both sample A and B group compared to the controlled group. In the corpus striatum, serotonin contents significantly increased in both sample A and B group compared to the controlled group. In the hippocamous, serotonin contents significantly increased in both sample A and B group compared to the controlled group. Conclusions : According to the above results, Gamisachi-tang(加味四七湯) had a significant impact on the changes in serotonin contents, which occurred in a separated part of mouse brain caused by stress.

  • Korean Cultural Content Industry is developing creative cultural content based on internationally acknowledged manufacturing capacity, however, in order to become cultural industry with international competitiveness, it has to be planned and made in OMSU way. This research studied and analyzed successful cases of cultural content digital restoration and excellent cases of OSMU-type that has been developed and supported by Korean Culture and Contents Agency. This study suggests the direction of growth on the basis of movement of cultural content industry and cultivating plan of human resources.

The Effect of Web-based Multimedia Contents for a Course of Physical Examination and Health Assessment (웹기반 건강사정 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 학습효과)

  • Purpose: This study was to test the effectiveness of Web-based multimedia contents for Physical Examination and Health Assessment on learning achievement. Method: Multimedia contents based on Jung's teaching and learning structure model were used to enhance learning achievement. Learning achievement was measured by the knowledge of Physical Examination and Health Assessment. The participants of this study were students in a BSN and RN-BSN program in a university located in Seoul. 59 students in the experimental group received lectures using web-based multimedia contents and 75 students in the control group received regular lectures. Results: The mean score of the degree of educational achievement in the experimental group(mean=31.09) was significantly higher than in the control group(mean=25.55)(t=-3.883, p=.000). Conclusion: These web-based multimedia contents were found to maximizethe effectiveness of the teaching process when used as a teaching aid, and yet kept the strength of a face to face teaching learning method. This program is recommended as part of a main text, vital teaching aid or cyber lecture materials in nursing schools and in health care educational institutions.

Effects of Amylose Contents and Degree of Gelatinization of Rice Flour on In Vitro Starch Digestibility, Physical Characteristics, and Morphological Properties

  • The relationship of in vitro starch digestibility and gel strength was investigated at various concentrations (10-30%) of rice cultivars with different amylose contents (27.9, 17.9, and 5.2%). As the rice flour concentration increased, predicted glycemic index decreased, but gel strength increased regardless of amylose contents. Gel strength correlated strongly with amylose content, whereas in vitro starch digestibility was more highly affected by rice flour concentration than by amylose contents. Moreover, the impact of degree of gelatinization on in vitro starch digestibility of high amylose rice was also examined in terms of structural features and rheological properties. The digestion rate of fully gelatinized flour was 1.7 times higher than that of native flour, while the disrupted structure with a different gelatinization degree during starch digestion was visually demonstrated through the X-ray diffraction and molecular distribution analysis. The rice flour changed from an A-type to a V-type pattern and showed difference in crystalline melting. The low molecular weight distribution increased with increasing degree of gelatinization during starch digestion. The apparent viscosity also increased with degree of gelatinization. These results demonstrated that the starch digestibility of rice was more affected by concentration than by amylose content, as well as by the degree of gelatinization due to structural difference.

Effects of Ag Additives on Electrical and Optical Properties of As2Se3 Thin Films (비정질 As2Se3 박막에 첨가된 은이 전기 및 광학적 성질에 미치는 효과)

  • D.c conductivity and optical transmittance of amorphous ($As_2Se_3$)Ag, (x =0, 2, 5, 10mol%) thin films were measured in order to find effects of Ag additives on electrical and optical properties of the films. The d.c. activation energy and the optical gap decreased with increasing Ag contents the Urbach tail was approximately unchangeable for variation of Ag contents. For Ag contents of 5mol% and less, the rate of decrease of the d.c activation energy was more rapidly than that of the optical gap with increasing Ag contents. For Ag contents more than 5mol%, the rate of decrease of the d.c activation energy and the optical gap were nearly the same each other with decreasing Ag contents. So it was appeared that the Fermi level of the films comes close to the mobility edge for Ag contents of 5mol% and less, and the mobility edge comes close the Fermi level for Ag contents more than 5mol%.

The Effect of Extrusion Conditions on Water-extractable Arabinoxylans from Corn Fiber

  • The effect of feed moisture contents (30%, 40%, and 50%) and screw speed (200 rpm, 250 rpm, and 300 rpm) on the corn fiber gum (CFG) yield and soluble arabinoxylans (SAX) content of destarched corn fiber was investigated. The CFG yields and SAX contents of extruded, destarched corn fiber were higher than that of destarched corn fiber. In extruded, destarched corn fiber, increased screw speed and decreased feed moisture contents resulted in a higher SAX contents. The maximum yields of CFG obtained from extruded, destarched corn fiber were $79.1{\pm}19.0g/kg$ (30% feed moisture content) and $82.3{\pm}11.30g/kg$ (300 rpm screw speed). The highest SAX content was also observed at a screw speed of 300 rpm. The results of the present study show that water extraction and extrusion combined have the potential to increase CFG and SAX yields from corn fiber.

  • In this paper, we propose a computational integral imaging reconstruction (CIIR) method using a round mapping model to improve the viewing quality of 3-D images. The proposed CIIR method can overcome the problem of non-uniformly reconstructed images caused by the conventional method. To show the usefulness of proposed method, some experiments are carried out and the results are presented.

  • By recent development of wired and wireless communication technology, any service can be delivered through broadcasting networks or communication networks. So contents consumers want to receive broadcasting program via any accessible network. Network independent broadcasting system can receive optimized multimedia contents by combining the high-quality multimedia contents transmitted through broadcasting network and the additional contents delivered through communication network. Additional contents can be other multimedia contents, URL of contents, some texts for indicating information of received multimedia, etc. Network independent broadcasting system is in early stage of development, and receivers and the monitoring system for hybrid broadcast are under development. Thus the multiplexing method and demultiplexing method to perform hybrid broadcasting is on study. In this paper, we designed the demultiplexing algorithm to perform hybrid broadcasting system and implemented demultiplexer system based on modulator interface system standard T2-MI of DVB-T2.

A Study on the Effect of Fertilization Conditions within the Contents of Several Essential Elements in Lettuce (상치의 시비조건에 따른 상치내 몇 가지 필수 무기원소들의 함량에 관한 연구)

  • To study the effects of chemical and organic fertilizer within the contents of essential elements in the lettuce, in the absence or presence of wood extraction, an experiment was conducted for a period of 10 weeks. The results obtained from the experiment are summarized as follows: 1. The iron contents in the lettuce grown in the chemical fertilized group, were different from those in the organic fertilized group, when the wood extraction was treated. The iron contents in the lettuce increased, due to the wood vinegar treatments, but the modes and degrees were not consistent the various kinds of lettuce. 2. Calcium contents in the lettuce were also increased by wood vinegar treatments, but the modes and degrees were not consistent with the various kinds of lettuce. On the other hand, the Calcium contents in the lettuce grown in the organic fertilized group were reduced by the wood vinegar treatments. 3. The mineral contents within other elements(Manganese, Copper, Zinc) in lettuce, is not variable according to the treatments, or the species of the lettuce.
