Effect of Glycyrrhizin on the Differentiation of 3T3-L1 Cell (글리시르히진이 3T3-L1세포의 분화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate effects of glycyrrhizin on the differentiation of preadipocytes, 3T3-Ll cells and to characterize the action of glycyrrhizin that affect the responses of 3T3-Ll cells during differentiation. The differentiation of 3T3-Ll cells was stimulated by glycyrrhizin, and triglyceride contents was increased in the differentiated 3T3-LI cell extracts. Total protein contents was increased by glycyrrhizin or inductive agents in the differentiated 3T3-Ll cell extracts. Calmodulin contents was increased by inductive agents, but the contents was not affected by glycyrrhizin in the differentiated 3T3-Ll cell extracts. The results suggest that glycyrrhizin has a stimulating activity of adipose conversion, but the activity is not related to calmodulin contents during the process of differentiation of 3T3-LI cells.

  • The objective of this study is to develop the prototype of valuation systems for digital contents. The valuation system developed in this study can be used to evaluate the qualitative and economic value of digital contents for planning stage, development stage, and commercialization stage of contents. Based on this valuation system, decision makers related to the commercialization of digital contents can evaluate the value of digital contents more systematically and concisely.

  • This study was based on the analysis of changes in curriculum of elementary mathematics curriculum, and changes in curriculum of middle school and high school mathematics curriculum. The purpose of this study is to analyze the movement of learning contents among the school levels based on the middle school mathematics curriculum and to summarize the influence on the curriculum of middle school mathematics according to the movement of learning contents. The research conducted according to the purpose of this study is as follows. First, we analyzed the trends of mathematical contents between elementary and middle schools after the movement of ten mathematics curriculums. Second, we analyzed trends of learning factors after mobility and mobility between middle school and high school. Third, the characteristics of 'the contents of mutual movement based on middle school' and 'the contents deleted from middle school' were analyzed. The results of this study are expected to reflect on current and past curriculum and to give meaningful implications to the composition of new curriculum.

Effect of Fat Contents on Thermal Resistance, Antibiotic Sensitivity, and Caco-2 Cell Invasion of Listeria monocytogenes

  • This study evaluates the effects of fat contents on the thermal resistance, antibiotic sensitivity, and Caco-2 cell invasion of Listeria monocytogenes. Ten strain mixture of L. monocytogenes in milk (0, 1, and 4% fat) and pork sausage patties (10, 20, and 30% fat) were exposed to $63^{\circ}C$. To evaluate effects of fat on the antibiotic sensitivity of L. monocytogenes, the L. monocytogenes strains NCCP10811 (most antibiotic resistant to streptomycin) and NCCP10943 (most antibiotic sensitive to streptomycin) were exposed to different fat contents in milk and pork sausage patties, and L. monocytogenes from the foods were used for antibiotic sensitivity assays. The most invasive L. monocytogenes strains (NCCP10943) was exposed to different fat contents in milk or pork sausage patties, and L. monocytogenes from the foods were used for the Caco-2 cell invasion assays. The reductions of L. monocytogenes populations were not generally influenced by fat contents. The L. monocytogenes subjected to milk fat had increased sensitivities (p<0.05) due to some antibiotics. In addition, Caco-2 cell invasion efficiency of L. monocytogenes NCCP10943 increased (p<0.05) as fat contents increased. These results indicated that higher fat contents may be related to L. monocytogenes invasions and heat resistances in pork sausage patties, but the relationship between fat and antibiotic sensitivity varied according to antibiotics, strains, and fat contents.

  • The web 2.0 is leading a rapid change of internet services. The UCC(User Created Contents) service is one of the representative internet services with web 2.0 paradigm. In this paper, we design and implement the UCC services prototype system for image and video. The proposed system does not need to install ActiveX and client programs on devices of users to edit their contents. All processes for editing UCC are conducted on the server. Our proposed system consists of the two components such as the multimedia editing subsystem and the metadata management system. They provide the API to UCC service developers or vendors. The multimedia editing subsystem supports editing for image and video, and the streaming services of video. The metadata management subsystem supports the metadata management and retrieval of image and video.

  • There have been gradually established paid using system on contents, such as sound source, webtoon etc, with which licences are systematically managed. However, rampant free sites still mostly relying on advertising revenue make difficulties on lots of contents developers and obstruct the protection of their resonable right. In this situation, we need systematic measures to protect copyright of authors and to maximize use of contents of users. Therefore, it is important to handle the convenience of digital contents distribution and the diversity of contents license(differentiating permission rate according to user's purpose, scope, service period etc), based on the need of contents users. This paper implies to guideline to install contents distribution platform of individuals and to apprehend the need and acceptability of users in order to activate digital contents transaction on individuals.

Development of Web-based Multimedia Contents for the Critical Care Practice of Nursing Students through Inter-College Collaboration (대학 간 통합 웹기반 중환자간호실습 콘텐츠 개발 및 적용)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop Web-based multimedia contents for supporting student nurses' clinical practice on critical care, and to evaluate learners' responses. Methods: Based on the steps of Assessment, Design, Development, Implementation, & Evaluation(ADDIE) model, a total of 13 self-directed learning modules including live lectures and real video clips were developed through faculty collaboration of nine nursing colleges in Gwangju and Chonnam province. The finally developed multimedia contents were published on the Web of the learning management system at a local e-learning center. Results: The Web contents were evaluated after self-learning by 81 junior college nursing students who were encouraged to study it at their own pace during their two-week clinical practice at a medical or surgical intensive care unit of a university hospital and two hospitals. The knowledge (t = -27.66, p < .001) and self-evaluated clinical performance level(t = 7.54, p < .001) were significantly increased after learning of the Web contents and clinical practice, and satisfaction level that measured post-test only was 4.0 out of 5 point. Conclusion: The use of Web contents for critical care need to be extended as a complimentary material in a class room lecture or clinical practice of students to increase their self-learning ability and understandings of clinical knowledge and situation.

The Role of Ascorbic Acid on the Redox Status and the Concentration of Malondialdehyde in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

  • We investigated the role of ascorbic acid on the redox status in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. In the plasma of diabetic rats, the ratio of reduced/total ascorbic acid was significantly decreased as compared with normal control. Ascorbic acid supplementation increased the reduced and total ascorbic acid contents as compared with diabetic control. In the rutintreatment group, reduced and total contents of ascorbic acid were significantly decreased, however, the ratio of reduced/total contents of ascorbic acid had no difference as compared with diabetic rats. In the insulin-treatment group, this ratio is not significantly different as compared with diabetic control. However, in the insulin plus ascorbic acid treatment group, reduced form and the ratio of reduced/total ascorbic acid were significantly increased as compared with diabetic control. In addition, we measured the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the plasma of diabetic rats. The contents of MDA was increased as compared with normal control, however, in insulin-treatment group, the contents of MDA was decreased as compared with diabetic rats. Ascorbic acid had no effects on the increases of MDA in diabetic rats. In conclusion, plasma ascorbic acid level and its reduced/total ratio reflects the status of the oxidative stress in the diabetic rats. Supplement of ascorbic acid did not correct the ratio of the reduced/total ascorbic acid. However, supplement of insulin and ascorbic acid corrected the ratio of reduced/total ascorbic acid.
