Background: The major goal of dental management before and after liver transplantation is the prevention of bacteremia from an oral source that could lead to systemic infection. However dental treatment in liver transplant patients have the risk of infection and bleeding. so it is needed special dental consideration. Methods: 42 liver transplant candidates who visited department of Advanced General Dentistry in Yonsei University College of dentistry from March 1, 2010 to February 29, 2012 were selected. The clinical data of those patients were analyzed; coagulation status such as PT, INR, aPTT, platelet count before and 6 months after liver transplantation, dental infectious foci, time interval between dental visit and operation date of liver transplantation. Results: Before liver transplant, the patient's PT and INR was prolonged, and the platelet count was lower than normal range. But 6 months later from liver transplantation, most of the figures turned into a normal range. The dental infection foci were chronic periodontitis, dental caries, chronic apical periodontitis, root rest et al but we did extraction of 6 root rest before liver transplantation and postponed other treatment after liver transplantation due to bleeding and infection risk of patients. Because of insufficient interval between dental visit and operation date, 64.3% of patients could not finish the dental treatment. Conclusions: The patients before liver transplantation have the risk of bleeding. The treatment of those patient should be removal of only factors that can cause dental infections after transplantation and other treatment must be postponed until the stable period of the transplant that patient's condition has improved.
Patients with severe mental challenges are often subjected to extensive dental problems. Their impaired communication and lack of cooperation unable to receive timely dental treatments, which deteriorates their adverse oral conditions. In spite of a limited time frame, well-planned comprehensive treatments can be delivered in an one-day operation setting under general anesthesia. This multidisciplinary treatment regimen primarily comprises of single-visit endodontics, direct bonded restoration, periodontal treatment, and surgical extraction. Further, one or two additional visits for prosthetic procedures are able to accomplish functional reestablishment and esthetic enhancement. This article discusses on clinical managements for severely mentally challenged patients under a single-day operation.
A survey using a questionnaire was conducted among industrial employees in Ulsan Total surveyed persons was 244. The purpose of this study was to analysis the relation and behavior of oral health promotion. Also, This study was to provide educational data of oral health. The obtained were analysed by SPSS program 12.0. The findings were as below: 1. Dental visit for prevention Y/N(%) was higher 50 years than 20 years(p < .001). Oral hygiene devices Y/N(%) for oral hygiene showed University graduates higher than Middle school graduates respectively(p < .05). 2. The knowledge of oral health was higher High school graduates than Middle school graduates respectively(p < .05). The rate of brushing teeth 3~5 times per day was higher females than males(p < .01) and better College graduates than Middle school graduates respectively(p < .001). 3. Oral health conditions of respondents were better 20years and 30years than 50years respectively(p < .001). Self-evaluation of Oral health sensitive was better College graduates than Middle school graduates respectively(p < .05). 4. Correlation between of Tooth brushing Frequency per Day by Oral health knowledge, dental clinic Visit, Extraction number had an effect on the significant dental clinic visit for prevention and the knowledge of Oral health had even a positive effect relationship(r = .233, p = .001). The knowledge of Oral health and the frequency of tooth brushing had even a positive effect relationship(r = .161, p = .05). The frequency of tooth brushing and the number of extraction of teeth had a negative effect relationship(r = -.145, p = .05).
The purpose of this study was to examine mothers' perception of dental health and their relevant behaviors. The subjects in this study were 878 mothers who had five-year-old children in the city of Seongnam. After a survey was conducted to find out their dental health awareness and behavior, the following findings were acquired; 1. 44.9 percent of the mothers investigated ever paid a visit to dental institutes over the last year, and 23.3 percent visited them to prevent any possible dental diseases. 56.1 percent ever received oral health education, and 30.0 percent, the largest group, received that in their school days. 69.0 percent ever had their teeth scaled. 2. As for their oral health knowledge, the right answer rate was 6.95 out of 10. Concerning what they knew the best about, 91.7 percent knew that sweet food including sugar caused dental caries, and regarding the most incorrect idea, 31.6 percent believed that aging made tooth come out. 3. In regard to oral health attitude, the right answer rate was 7.33 out of 10. As to the best attitude, 87.1 percent felt that it made them unpleasant to go to bed without doing toothbrushing, and concerning the worst case, 24.0 percent believed that teeth could be clean without using toothpaste. 4. As to oral health behavior, the right answer rate was 5.37 out of 10. Regarding the most common oral health behavior, 89.9 percent brushed their teeth before going to bed, and the least common one, 15.8 percent made a regular visit to dental institutes to examine their teeth. 5. Concerning self-evaluation of oral health, the right answer rate was 6.77 out of 10. 90.0 percent found themselves not to have a toothache, and regarding the worst case, 38.1 percent considered their oral health to be better than that of others of the same age group.
Prior to the start of the general oral examination, this study was performed using the theory of planned behavior to provide data that would help not only increase intention of industrial workers' dental care utilization after their dental examination, but develop the follow-up oral health programs. As the first research group, 608 workers were selected from the 1016 workers while excluding both 53 workers who were currently undergoing dental treatment and 355 workers who had an opportunity to visit the dental clinic over the previous six months. Among the general characteristics that would influence the 608 workers' intention to utilize the dental clinic within one (1) month, their financial state showed that the higher their financial abundance level, the stronger their intention to visit the dental clinic(p<0.01). It was shown that the attitude toward the dental care utilization related behavior and subjective norm except the perceived behavioral control among the TPB variables had a significant effect on their intention(p<0.01). Among TPB variables, attitude toward the dental care utilization and subjective norm except the perceived behavioral control, were significant correlation with behavioral intention(p<0.01). The structure model's R-square of the attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control having and effect on the intention accounted for 21%. In order to encourage the workers to have positive thoughts about the attitude toward their dental care utilization and subjective norm, therefore, it is required to perform the continued oral health programs, in addi1ion to oral health experts' regular education.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related to high school students' fear of dental treatment and distrust for dentists, analyze the relation between these factors and dental health services utilization, and then apply basis data for providing individualized dental health service. The period of the data collection was from November 1st to November 22th 2013, and the subjects were 300 of the first-year high school students in Daugu, and the final analysis data were total 280. using frequency, T-test, correlation and multiple regression analysis, the results of this study were as follows. The higher the distrust for dentist(${\beta}=0.322$) and the burden of dental visit(${\beta}=0.161$), fear of Dental treatment was increased. The larger the fear of Dental treatment and Past experienced pain level, distrust for dentist was increased. therefore, In order to decrease patients' distrust for dentists, good communication between patients and doctors, and efficient treat plans were needed. As a result, patients should have positive attitude on treat. Through early detection and early treatment of oral disease, effective dental health care services with decreasing the fear of dental care system should be provided.
Objectives : The aim of the study is to offer basic data that help to reduce dental fear by measuring adult dental fear level with DFS scale. Methods : The subjects were 300 persons including college students in W University and their parents in Jeollabuk-do Province. Data were collected by convenience sampling from May 1 to May 30, 2013. Results : 1. Dental clinic visit provoked pain in 99 people(47.4%). Oral examination and preventive treatment evoked pain in 13 people(6.2%). 2. Women tended to feel much pain than men. Both women and men felt the thrilling fear when a needle pricks the flesh. 3. Respondents having dental caries, gum bleeding, halitosis, shaking tooth, and painful tooth had a higher dental fear level. 4. The direct pain experience(p<0.001) had the greatest influence. The next influencing factor was the insufficient anesthesia(p<0.05). 5. The explanatory power that the pain experience has influence upon dental fear is $R^2$=0.151. Conclusions : The direct pain experience and the insufficient anesthesia experience have the great influence upon patients' dental fear level. Anesthetics and analgesics can be considered as one of the positive methods for pain control.

This article presents the successful surgical management of a failed mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) orthograde obturation of a tooth with a history of impact trauma and perforated internal root resorption. A symptomatic maxillary lateral incisor with a history of perforation due to internal root resorption and nonsurgical repair using MTA was referred. Unintentional overfill of the defect with MTA had occurred 4 yr before the initial visit. The excess MTA had since disappeared, and a radiolucent lesion adjacent to the perforation site was evident radiographically. Surgical endodontic retreatment was performed using calcium enriched mixture (CEM) cement as a repair material. Histological examination of the lesion revealed granulation tissue with chronic inflammation, and small fragments of MTA encapsulated within fibroconnective tissue. At the one and two year follow up exams, all signs and symptoms of disease had resolved and the tooth was functional. Complete radiographic healing of the lesion was observed two years after the initial visit. This case report illustrates how the selection of an appropriate approach to treatment of a perforation can affect the long term prognosis of a tooth. In addition, extrusion of MTA into a periradicular lesion should be avoided.

A person with neurological disorder is defined as a person with limitation of ambulation or basic life activity due to the cerebral palsy or traumatic brain damage, stroke. Recently, the DMFT of the children with neurological disorders is similar or lower than the DMFT of the children with no disability. But, this article is about the severe-early childhood caries in children with grade 1 neurological disorder. It is supposed that the primary motor impairment and secondary physical weakness, frequent hospitalization, sugar- rich food and drugs, lack of oral care, delayed dental visit made high caries susceptibility. In case of treatment of the children with severe neurological disorders, dentists should make a thorough caries preventive plan based on individualized caries risk assessment. Also parents and medical doctors should recognize the importance of oral care and do the early dental visit and home care.
