치위생 전공 학생의 임상실습 경험과 환경이 치위생전문직관에 미치는 영향 (The influence of clinical practice experience and environment on dental hygiene professionalism in dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the clinical practice experience and environment of dental hygiene students, and to determine how these factors relate to their dental hygiene professionalism. The aim was to provide data necessary to improve the clinical practice environment and promote professionalism in dental hygiene. Methods: A survey was conducted in August 2023 among dental hygiene students from five randomly selected universities in the metropolitan area. Data analysis methods included t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The main influencing factors of dental hygiene professionalism were the quality of instruction in the clinical practice, opportunities for learning, preparedness for students, and satisfaction with the practice institution (p<0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between the clinical practice environment and all sub-items of dental hygiene professionalism (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study emphasize that the choice of practice institution is very important to enhance dental hygiene professionalism, and close collaboration between universities and practice institutions is highlighted to improve the quality of clinical practice guidance and opportunities for participation.

Major Satisfaction and Professionalism according to DISC Behavior Patterns of Dental Hygiene Students

  • Objective: This study was performed to verify how DISC behavior patterns affect the major satisfaction and professionalism of dental hygiene students and provide basic data for dental hygiene students to have increased major satisfaction and maximize their strength by understanding their DISC behavior pattern. As a result, the following conclusion was obtained. Methods: The data was collected From November 1, 2018 to November 14, 2018, 218 dental hygiene students. Data was collected using self-reported questionnaires. Statistical analysis was performed with IBM SPSS ver. 21.0. Mean (standard deviation) and one-way ANOVA & pearson correlation were performed. Results: The most frequent DISC behavior patterns of dental hygiene students was steadiness types (49.0%) followed by influence types (34.5%), conscientiousness types (9.0%), and dominance types (7.5%). There were no significant difference in professionalism and major satisfaction according to DISC behavior patterns in dental hygiene students. There was a correlation between major satisfaction and professionalism of dental hygiene students. Conclusion: In conclusion, in order for dental hygiene students to establish positive professionalism through increased major satisfaction, it is necessary to make various efforts such as providing consultation and education that corresponds to each student's DISC behavior patterns. These efforts will provide the students career vision and encourage them to improve their academic achievement and find employment that fits their vocational aptitude.

치위생 전문직 관련 국내 연구 동향 분석 (An Analysis of Domestic Research Trends related to Professionals in Dental Hygiene)

  • Background: The aim of this study was to identify the bibliographic characteristics and research trends of the literature published on the profession of dental hygiene to provide basic data for research, education, and intervention program development for the establishment of healthy professionalism among dental hygienists and dental hygienist students. Methods: A literature search was conducted through four databases. They were looked up using the terms "dental hygiene" and "professional." Finally, 46 research papers that meet the selection criteria were selected for analysis. Results: From 2004 to 2022, 46 articles were published. Except for key words related to subjects and tools, key words ranked at the top were job satisfaction, self-esteem, self-leadership, and stress. Five tools of professionalism-professional self-concept, professional intuition, professional identity, and a professional values scale -were used in the study. Conclusion: Considering the social perception of dental hygienists as professionals and the reality of dental hygiene that is carrying out the process of professionalization, efforts are needed to identify and promote beliefs and attitudes toward professionals such as professionalism and professional identity.

치위생(학)과 학생의 전공만족도, 치위생전문직관이 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향 (The effects of satisfaction with major, and dental hygiene professionalism on career preparation behavior of dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: This study was attempted in order to understand about the satisfaction with major and the dental hygiene professionalism in dental hygiene students and to grasp the factors affecting the career preparation behavior. Methods: The research subjects included 264 juniors and seniors who are attending dental hygiene department across Korea (three locations in Gyeonggi province, one locations in Daejeon, four locations in Jeolla province, and one locations in Daegu). Data were collected using the online questionnaire between March 6 to April 7, 2023. The chosen data analysis method included descriptive statistical analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple linear regression. Results: The following average scores were obtained from those surveyed: 3.25 points concerning career preparation behavior, 3.83 points concerning the respondent's satisfaction with their major, and 3.45 points concerning dental hygiene professionalism. As for a difference in career preparation behavior according to general characteristics, a meaningful difference was shown in terms of gender, motivation for entering the field, and first desired employment. Aspects of career preparation behavior, satisfaction with one's major, and dental hygiene professionalism showed a significant correlation and were confirmed to explain the prediction of 29.1% of the variation in the regression model. Conclusions: For the sake of having an integrated understanding about career preparation behavior among dental hygiene students, there is a need to conduct repeated research on diverse variables and to inquire into a causal relationships between such variables.

치위생(학)과 학생의 진로준비행동에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors influencing the career preparation behavior of dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives: This study examined the professionalism, major satisfaction, self-leadership, and career preparation behavior of dental hygiene students, and examined the factors affecting career preparation behavior. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire survey was conducted among dental hygiene students in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas of Korea, and finally, questionnaires submitted by 190 subjects were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 21.0. Results: The average scores for professionalism, major satisfaction, self-leadership, and career preparation behavior among the evaluated subjects were 3.68±0.56, 3.44±0.46, 3.57±0.55, and 3.24±0.52, respectively. Students who answered that their motivation for career preparation according to general characteristics was "because it is a valuable job" showed the highest score of 3.60±0.54 for professionalism (p<0.01) and higher scores for major satisfaction and career preparation behavior (p<0.001). The factors that affected career preparation behavior were self-leadership (p<0.001), major satisfaction (p<0.01), and professional intuition (p<0.01). Conclusions: The study findings showed that groups with higher self-leadership, major satisfaction, and professionalism exhibited more active career preparation behavior. Therefore, various educational programs are needed to improve dental hygiene (academics) and career preparation behavior of students.

임상치과위생사의 전문 직업성과 직무만족도 (Professionalism and job satisfaction in dental hygienists)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between the professionalism and job satisfaction of clinical dental hygienists. Methods : The subjects were 310 dental hygienists in private and group practiced dental clinics. A self-reported questionnaire was conducted from December, 2012 to February, 2013. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 12.0. Results : Dental hygienists revealed the highest score in a sense of calling (3.41) and the lowest score in professionalism (2.85). They showed the highest score in the relationship with dentists (3.56) and the lowest score in pay (2.83). Highly educated and aged dental hygienists wanted to get more clinical career as professionalist. So there was a very significant positive correlation between professionalism and job satisfaction. Conclusions : Dental hygienists showed job satisfaction. Therefore it is important to develop the linking system of professionalsim and human resources development program.

치과위생사의 직무수행능력 영향 요인 (Factors influencing dental hygienist's job performance)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to provide basic data for developing a professionalism improvement program for dental hygienists in preparation for the 4th industrial revolution era. Methods: A survey was conducted in 216 dental hygienists from May 3 to June 14, 2021, and statistical processing was performed using frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Communication competence were at higher levels for dental hospital workers (3.98) and university/graduate school (3.94); professionalism was at higher levels for dental hospital workers (3.64), university/graduate school (3.55), and 7 or more dental hygienists at workplace (3.53); self leadership was at higher levels for dental hospital workers (4.11), university/graduate school (4.04), and intermediary manager (4.00); job performance was at higher levels for 11 years or more (4.08), university/graduate school (4.04), intermediary manager (4.04), and 30-34 years of age (4.04). There was positive correlation among communication competence, professionalism, self-leadership, and job performance. Factors affecting job performance were self-leadership (β=0.461), communication competence (β=0.353), 30-34 years of age (β=0.141), and total experience of 8-10 years (β=-0.149). Conclusions: In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, it is necessary to develop a program to strengthen the professional competence of dental hygienists.

치과위생사의 전문직업적 정체성과 관련 요인 (Professionalism identity and related factors of dental hygienists)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the professionalism identity and related factors in dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 347 dental hyfienists from March 5 to May 31, 2015. Except incomplete 39 answers, data were analyzed by frequency analysis, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 22.0. The questionnaire comprised 25 items including professionalism scale by Hall, Snizek, and Anderson by Likert 5 point scale. Results: Professionalism scale revealed self-regulation($3.65{\pm}0.58$), service conviction($3.64{\pm}0.62$), skills and training($3.21{\pm}0.70$), sense of professional vocation($3.20{\pm}0.65$), and thought about professional group($3.08{\pm}0.78$). The professionalism identity by general characteristics showed significant differences and there were positive correlations in main factors. The identity level was influenced by internal factors rather than economic compensation. Conclusions: There were positive correlation in main factors. The identity level was influenced by internal factors.

학제에 따른 치위생(학)과 학생의 자아존중감과 전문직업관에 관한 연구 (A Study of Self-Esteem and Professionalism among Dental Hygiene Students according to Educational System)

  • 본 연구는 학제에 따른 자아존중감과 전문직업관을 비교하고자 충청지역에 재학 중인 3년제, 4년제 치위생(학)과 학생 579명을 대상으로 설문조사하여, SPSS WIN 12.0을 이용하여 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 입학만족도에 따른 자아존중감은 3년제에서 만족이 3.02점이었고, 4년제에서는 만족이 2.96점으로 나타났다(p<.05). 전문직업관은 3년제에서 만족이 2.97점이었고, 4년제에서는 만족이 2.93점으로 나타났다(p<.05). 2. 학제별 학년에 따른 자아존중감은 3년제에서는 2학년 3.00점, 4년제 4학년에서 3.04점으로 가장 높았으며, 전문직업관은 3년제에서는 1학년이 2.97점, 4년제에서는 4학년이 2.93점으로 가장 높았다. 3. 학과선택 동기에 따른 자아존중감은 3년제와 4년제 모두 적성이 3.18점, 3.02점으로 가장 높았고, 전문직업관은 3년제에서 적성과 평생직업이 3.06점으로 가장 높았고, 4년제에서는 평생직업이 2.94점으로 가장 높게 나타났다(p<.01). 4. 졸업 후 희망하는 취업기관에 따른 자아존중감은 3, 4년제 모두 대학원 진학을 원하는 학생들에서 3.16점, 3.13점으로 가장 높았고, 전문직업관은 3년제에서 대학원 진학이 3.09점, 4년제에서는 병원 및 종합병원과 보건소 및 학교구강보건실이 2.91점으로 가장 높았다.

치과위생사 전문직업성에 영향을 미치는 교육과정 구성요소 (Curriculum Components Affecting the Professionalism of Dental Hygienists)

  • 치과위생사 전문직업성에 영향을 미치는 교육과정 구성 요소를 분석하고, 추후 교육과정 구성요소별로 치과위생사의 신념과 태도를 강화시킬 수 있는 교육과정의 구체적 개선 방향을 탐색하는데 의의를 둔다. 본 조사는 2009년 4월 10일부터 2009년 6월 12일까지 직 간접 방문 및 우편, E-mail을 통하여 이루어졌으며, 연구대상은 치위생(학)과 학생 934부, 치위생(학)과 교수 76부, 치과위생사 285부로 총 1,295부를 대상으로 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 치과위생사 전문직업성 향상을 위해 치과위생사 양성 교육과정의 교육목표적 요소는 대인관계술과 자기계발을 위한 측면을 보다 적극적으로 교육과정 운영에 포함시켜야 할 것이다. 2. 치과위생사 전문직업성과 치과위생사 양성 교육과정의 교육내용은 학습자가 치과위생사로서의 성취감과 만족감을 얻을 수 있는 강한 욕구가 형성되도록 학습자의 학습필요나 만족을 충족시킬 수 있는 내용으로 선정하고, 이와 함께 교과적 중요성과 사회적 타당성 준거를 함께 고려해야 한다. 3. 치과위생사 전문직업성 향상을 위해 현행 교육과정 속에서 계열성의 원리는 관계하지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 각 교과의 특성과 채택하는 교수 방법을 학생의 학습경험 속에서 보장 할 수 있도록 개선되어져야 할 요소이다. 4. 치과위생사 전문직업성과 치과위생사 양성 교육과정의 교육평가 요소에 있어 치과위생사 국가시험은 치과위생사의 여러 측면을 평가할 수 있도록 개선되어져야 할 필요성을 보였으며, 국가시험과 함께 현행 치과위생사 양성 교육과정의 학교평가가 강화되어져야 할 필요성이 있는 것으로 사료된다. 그러므로 학교평가에서 평가의 내용과 평가의 방법적 측면이 함께 고려되어야 한다.
