Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the exposure level of hazardous chemical agents for dental technicians in Ulsan. Methods: We measured airborne total dusts and metals such as Nickel, Manganese, Cobalt, and Chromium in 10 dental laboratories by the NIOSH Methods 0500 and 7300, respectively. Methyl methacrylate (MMA), a key ingredient in acrylic resin, was also monitored using passive samplers for long-term sampling and Tenax tubes for short-term sampling. Results: Measured levels of all items were below 10% of the Korean exposure limit except for Nickel. The geometric mean concentration and geometric standard deviation of total dust, Nickel, and MMA were $0.14mg/m^3$ (2.16), $165.3{\mu}g/m^3$ (3.31), and 0.2 ppm (2.5) respectively. Airborne Nickel concentration of two dental laboratories exceeded the exposure limit ($1000{\mu}g/m^3$). The major emission sources of Nickel were metal trimming and casting processes. Conclusions: We found that Nickel, a carcinogen, should be controled most urgently to protect dental technicians.
This research was conducted by targeting pregnant women in the trial operation of dental hygiene care program with the focus on non-surgical periodontal treatments at the Maternal and Child Health center in the public health center. This study was conducted to provide basic data to dental hygienists who operate oral health promotion programs by targeting pregnant women of the local community through the evaluation on structure, the assessment process and results from the pilot program at the public health center. The targets are nine pregnant women who have been involved in the Dental hygiene care program three times. An evaluation on the structure, process and results according to the Indicators of each program were conducted. The results of dental hygiene care program found that the retention rate decreased. The retention of the probing pocket depth larger than 4mm was 40.4% to 14.0%(p<0.05). The retention rate of the gingival bleeding teeth was 4.6% to 2.7% (p=0.180). PHP Index improved. 1.7 points in the 1st to 1.4 points in the 3rd in the case of the second pregnant woman and 2.4 points in the 1st to 1.3 points (p<0.05) in the 3rd in the case of the third pregnant woman. The applicable and expandable possibility of the dental hygiene care program with the focus on non-surgical periodontal treatments at the Community Health Center is significant in the result of this study. In the future, long-term operation and ongoing monitoring of this program is needed.
Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the usability, quality, and usefulness of the mobile application, CAMBRA-kids, for caries management in preschoolers. Methods: Ninety-one caregivers and preschoolers participated in the user evaluation of CAMBRA-kids. The evaluators assessed the usability, quality, and usefulness of CAMBRA-kids. The collected data were analyzed using R studio 1.2.1335 for Windows (RStudio Inc. 2018, Boston, MA, USA). The evaluations for usability, quality, and usefulness were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test, and Wilcoxon rank sum test. Results: On user evaluation, the quality and usefulness of the application scored >3 points, and majority of the users rated the quality and usefulness of the application as high. The quality of the application's system was the highest at 3.68 points, and the actual usage of the application was the lowest at 3.10 points. The application had the highest technological aspect score of 3.20, whereas the content related to oral health information had the lowest score of 3.10/5. Although the application showed no statistically significant differences in the quality and usefulness according to general characteristics, there was a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) between the two when compared between the caries risk group. For all items, the protector of the high-risk group evaluated the quality and usefulness of the application highly. The moderate risk group gave the lowest evaluation score for the application's quality and usefulness. The usability score of the application, according to the user version of the mobile application rating scale (uMARS), was 3.25, and the average engagement score was 2.82 (56.31%). The highest subscale score was 3.63. Conclusions: In this study, we found suitable quality, usability, and usefulness of the mobile application, CAMBRA-kids. In future, the use of this application will contribute to the prevention of dental caries among preschoolers.
Objectives : The purpose of the study is to improve autonomous decision-making ability by analyzing the relationship between autonomy and decision-making ability. This research is aimed at cutting off hearing loss and other harmful factors due to noise and providing basic material for noise reduction plan. As the research method, this research assessed noise by measuring acoustic pressure level and frequency in various situation of non-treatment and treatment. As the measurement result, average noise degree of high speed handpiece of non-treatment, ultrasonic waves scaler, and low speed handpiece showed 58~66 dB(A). Average noise degree of scaling of treatment, tooth elimination, and denture adjust showed 73~81 dB(A). The result is inferior to recognized standards of noise induced hearing loss. But the result of assessing this with (noise rating) NR curve was NR-73~78, which exceeded general workplace noise standard. This level can cause hearing loss when exposed to a long time. Therefore, treatment office noise during dental treatment can cause psychological and physical damage in dental clinic employees, and it is urgently required to establish systematic and active noise reduction plan.

Also, cariogenic bacteria and ammonia was found out to be related with proteins (p<0.01), and ammonia, the synthetic product of cariogenic bacteria was heavily related to blood and white blood cells (p<0.01). To conclude, the healthiness of teeth was related to the acidity of saliva and ammonia, the healthiness of gum was related to blood, proteins and white blood cells while the oral hygiene was most likely to be related to ammonia. This result matched to the seven oral disease cause analyses of the saliva analysis apparatus (Sill-Ha ST-4910), which implied further utilization of this data to clinical implications. However, this study is limited to young personnel who does not have any chronic or general diseases; therefore further study is required to generalize this study.
