Since arterial disease in the upper extremity is less common than that in the lower extremity, experimental and numerical investigations related to upper extremity have been rarely performed. We created a three-dimensional model of the arteries, larger than approximately 1 mm, in a Korean adult's left hand (from brachial to digital arteries), from 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. For the first time, a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamic method was employed to investigate blood flow velocity, blood pressure variation, and wall shear stress (WSS) on this complicated artery system. Investigations were done on physiological blood flows near the branches of radial and deep palmar arch arteries, and ulnar and superficial palmar arch arteries. The flow is assumed to be laminar and the fluid is assumed to be Newtonian, with density and viscosity properties of plasma.

In this study, development of a new LTCC material using non-glassy system was attempted with repsect to reducing the fabrication process steps and cost down. Lowering the sintering temperature can be achieved by liquid phase sintering. However, presence of liquid phases usually decrease dielectric properties, especially the quality factor. Therefore, the starting material must have quality factor as high as possible in microwave frequency range. And also, the material should have a low dielectric constant for enhancing the signal propagation speed. Regarding these factors, dielectric constants of various materials were estimated by the Clausius-Mosotti equation. Among them, $ZnWO_4$ was turned out the suitable LTCC material. $ZnWO_4$ can be sintered up to 98% of full density at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. It's measured dielectric constant, quality factor, and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency were 15.5, 74380GHz, and $-70ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively. In order to modify the dielectric properties and densification temperature, $B_{2}O_{3}$ and $V_{2}O_{5}$ were added to $ZnWO_4$. 40 mol% $B_{2}O_{3}$ addition reduced the dielectric constant from 15.5 to 12. And the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was improved from -70 to $-7.6ppm/^{\circ}C$. However, sintering temperature did not change due to either lack of liquid phase or high viscosity of liquid phase. Incorporation of small amount of $V_{2}O_{5}$ in $ZnWO_{4}-B_{2}O_{3}$ system enhanced liquid phase sintering. 0.1 wt% $V_{2}O_{5}$ addition to the $0.6ZnWO_{4}-0.4B_{2}O_{3}$ system, reduced the sintering temperature down to $950^{\circ}C$. Dielectric constant, quality factor, and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency were 9.5, 16737GHz, and $-21.6ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively.

In this study, rheological properties of kaolinite and three different porcelain fluid muds are quantitatively estimated with the latest rheometer, in which variations of their viscosities and yield stresses with their densities are estimated. This study also involves the measurements for the basic physico-chemical properties of fluid muds and the qualitative analysis of their correlation between physico-chemical and rheological properties. Experimental results of rheological tests show that fluid muds in general belong to Pseudo-plastic fluids and both viscosities and yield stresses of them increase exponentially with the increase of density while they are remarkably different in quantity depending on sediments.

Environmental friendly acrylics/urea high-solid paints (BEHCU) were prepared through the curing reaction of acrylics resin(BEHC) containing 70wt% of solids content and butylated urea curing agent. BEHC was synthesized by addition copolymerization of caprolactone acrylate(CLA), 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate(2-HPMA), ethyl methacrylate, and n-butyl acrylate. The addition polymerization of these monomers, especially including flexible CLA monomer and 2-HPMA monomer with OH funtional group, under appropriate reaction conditions resulted in polymers with controlled glass transition temperature($T_g$) and crosslinking density. The molecular weight($M_w$) of these polymers(BEHCs) was 2940${\sim}$3240 and polydispersity ($M_w/M_n$) was in the range of 1.61${\sim}$1.72. The viscosity and the molecular weight of these acrylic resins increased with increasing $T_g$. The coated films were prepared using curing reaction between BEHC resin and butylated urea curing agent at 100$^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. Our experimental resulted showed that enhancement of the coating properties such as adhesion, flexibility, impact resistance, water resistance, and abrasion resistance could be expected through introducing CLA component in acrylic resin for the high-solid content acrylics/urea coatings.

Biodiesel as alternative fuels has been widely studied due to biodiesel merits such as lower sulfur, lower aromatic hydrocarbon and higher oxygen content. But biodiesels could be easily oxidized by several conditions. In this study, various antioxidants such as propyl gallate, TBHA, TBHQ, DTBHQ, butyl-amin, aniline and pyrogallol were added in the biodiesel produced by the used cooking oil, then the material property test and the vehicle emissions test were conducted in accordance with test method. From the results of material property test, all antioxidants were suitable for the quality standard of density and kinematic viscosity, but Propyl gallate and Pyrogallol, as a type of Gallate additives, showed that the result of TAN increased rapidly according to the increase of the amount of additives. In the oxidation stability test, TBHQ, Butyl-amine and Aniline showed the excellent oxidation stability. Also, when considering the material property test, TBHQ was verified to the most excellent additives. In case of the vehicle emissions test, the testing was conducted by using the biodiesel added by TBHQ and was conducted by using two light duty diesel vehicles suitable for the EURO 4 and EURO 5 emission regulation. The result of testing showed that when the TBHQ was added, the amounts of CO, NOx and NMHC+NOx were decreased but the amount of $CO_2$ was increased.

The vast stores of biomass available in the worldwide have the potential to displace significant amounts of fuels that are currently derived from petroleum sources. Fast pyrolysis of biomass is one of possible paths by which we can convert biomass to higher value products. The wood pyrolysis oil (WPO), also known as the bio crude oil (BCO), have been regarded as an alternative fuel for petroleum fuels to be used in diesel engine. However, the use of BCO in a diesel engine requires modifications due to low energy density, high water contents, low acidity, and high viscosity of the BCO. One of the easiest way to adopt BCO to diesel engine without modifications is emulsification of BCO with diesel and bio diesel. In this study, a diesel engine operated with diesel, bio diesel (BD), BCO/diesel, BCO/bio diesel emulsions was experimentally investigated. Performance and gaseous & particle emission characteristics of a diesel engine fuelled by BCO emulsions were examined. Results showed that stable engine operation was possible with emulsions and engine output power was comparable to diesel and bio diesel operation. However, in case of BCO/diesel emulsion operation, THC & CO emissions were increased due to the increased ignition delay and poor spray atomization and NOx & Soot were decreased due to the water and oxygen in the fuel. Long term validation of adopting BCO in diesel engine is still needed because the oil is acid, with consequent problems of corrosion and clogging especially in the injection system.

The vast stores of biomass available in the worldwide have the potential to displace significant amounts of petroleum fuels. Fast pyrolysis of biomass is one of several paths by which we can convert biomass to higher value products. The wood pyrolysis oil (WPO) has been regarded as an alternative fuel for petroleum fuels to be used in diesel engine. However, the use of WPO in a diesel engine requires modifications due to low energy density, high water contents, high acidity, high viscosity, and low cetane number of the WPO. One possible method by which the shortcomings may be circumvented is to co-fire WPO with other petroleum fuels. WPO has poor miscibility with light petroleum fuel oils; the most suitable candidates fuels for direct fuel mixing are methanol or ethanol. Early mixing with methanol or ethanol has the added benefit of significantly improving the storage and handling properties of the WPO. For separate injection co-firing, a WPO-ethanol blended fuel can be fired through diesel pilot injection in a dual-injection dieel engine. In this study, the performance and emission characteristics of a dual-injection diesel engine fuelled with diesel (pilot injection) and WPO-ethanol blend (main injection) were experimentally investigated. Results showed that although stable engine operation was possible with separate injection co-firing, the fuel conversion efficiency was slightly decreased due to high water contents of WPO compare to diesel combustion.
Engine oil is a substance used for the lubrication of internal combustion systems. However, in some case, defects in engine systems may contaminate engine oil with fuel. Contaminated engine oil can cause problems in the normal functioning of a vehicle. In this study, we investigate the functional properties of engine oil contaminated with diesel fuel. The test results indicate that the engine oil contaminated with diesel fuel has low flash point, pour point, density, kinematic viscosity and cold cranking simulator value. The contaminated engine oil which has low plash point can cause fire and explosion accident. Furthermore, a four ball test indicates that the contaminated engine oil increases wear scar to poor lubricity. Moreover, we investigate the GC pattern using SIMDIST (simulated distillation) for determination of diesel in engine oil. The SIMDIST analytic result, diesel was detected at earlier retention time than engine oil in chromatogram. Thus the SIMDIST method can define whether engine oil is contaminated by diesel fuel or not. We can use the SIMDIST method for the diagnosis of oil condition instead of analyzing other physical properties that require many analytic instruments, large volume of oil sample and long analysis time.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality characteristics and acceptability of curried rice containing cheonggukjang powder for the using in a high school foodservice menu. The viscosity of the curry sauce with cheonggukjang powder was not significantly different between the control and 15% sample group. As the level of cheonggukjang powder was increased, the Hunter's L value increased, whereas the a value decreased. In the results of the acceptance test, the 15% group was not significantly different from the control group. Therefore, the 15% group was selected based on the acceptance test for use by the school foodservice industry. There was no significant difference between boys and girls (p<0.01) in the acceptance test of curried rice with cheonggukjang powder in terms of flavor, color, aroma, density of sauce, overall acceptability. In regards to the reason why boys and girls did not consume the curried rice, 'because of unfavorable taste' (51.0%), ranked highest followed by 'because of other' (34.2%). In conclusion, there was a high food acceptance food when cheonggukjang powder was added to curried rice. Also, it is necessary to increase the preference and consumption of cheonggukjang foods and through the development of proper recipes that contain cheonggukjang and through combination with other food ingredients.
A number of alternative cleaning solvents to CFC 113 which was identified as a ozone-depleting meterial were collected to measure their experimental physecal properties of density, surface tension, Refractive Index, boiling point, pH, viscosity, flash point, and soltbility. They might be classified as aqueous, simi-aqeous, alcohol ketone, and halogen cleaning solvents. The solubilities of abietic acid, a major component of flux used in PCB (Printed Circuit Board) of the electronic indystry, into the cleaning solvents including CFC 113 were determined for comparison. The assorted cleaning solvents have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore a end-user carefully needs to choose the best-fit cleaning solvent after the safety, stability, and economics as well as the effectiveness by physical properties of the alternative cleaning solvents are integratedly considered.
