  • The problem of vehicle routing problem(VRP) with pair operations of pick up and delivery are well-known in real applications in logistics networks, as in planning the routes for automatic guided vehicles(AGVs) in an automatic container terminal(ACT), warehouses or in some just-in-time services. This paper will present a formulation to modeling the problem mathematically which can be used to generate optimal routes of carried vehicles in the field to reduce the incurred cost of moving goods. This selected model could be used in (semi-)automatic short-term planning systems for vehicle fleet working in ACT, or in modern warehouses which the long list of requests is parted and sorted in preprocessing orders systems.

  • This paper provides a method to implement IT system for supply chain management problem The fundamental scheduling issues that arise in the pickup delivery system are optimizing the system with the minimum cost, the maximum throughput and the service level. This study is concerned with the development of the customer responsive pickup-delivery system based on e-logistics and demand chain management. Through this study, the pickup-delivery problem of the vehicle using the GIS PDP and GUI- type computer programs are formulated. The computational results show that the proposed method is very effective on a set of test problems.

A Study on the Operational Improvement at Pusan Container Terminal (부산항 컨테이너 전용 터미널 운영 개선을 위한 연구)

  • In this paper, we compare and analyze the current state of the productivity of the stevedoring work among several container terminals in 1999. Based on these results of analysis, we firstly classify several factors which impede the efficient operations of container terminal as follows ; late arrival of container beyond cargo closing time(CCT), change of port of destination, change of vessel, and return cargo. Such factors are major cause for the cargo rehandling on terminals, thus deteriorate the overall performance of transfer crane during the stevedoring work. In order to improve the productivity of container terminal, we suggest that it is necessary for establishing and operating the efficient logistics management system. Especially, we emphasize the importance of information exchange on the scheduled cargoes among the relevant parties such as shippers, shipping companies, and terminal operators, which is the most effective way to alleviate the cargo rehandling.

  • In this study, as the preliminary step for developing an unmanned vehicle to deliver a container-box, we designed and implemented Automatic Guided Vehicle(AGV) Simulator for the purpose of Port Facilities Automation. It is preferable to research the intelligent AGV for delivery all day long. For complementing AGV simulator driving, we used multiple-sensor systems with vision, ultrasonic, IR and adapted the high-speed wireless LAN that satisfies the IEEE 802.11 Standard for bi-directional communication between main processor in AGV and Host computer. Here, we mounted on bottom frame in AGV Pentium-III processor, which combine and compute the information from each sensor system and control the AGV driving, and used the 80C196KC micro-controller to control the actuating and steering motors.

  • The purpose of the study are summarized as follows: First, it has researched the new functions of middleman in Fisheries Port Market. Second, the new functions which middleman have to perform in Fisheries Port Market consist of the origin function, marketing function, logistics function. The origin function consists of the discrimination of fish species and freshness, making the price by auction, financing, etc. Marketing function consists of various species assortment from not only fisheries port market but also non fisheries port market as frozen and import fish markets, finding the new selling markets as not broker but wholesaler, making the price and margin non through the action, processing, etc. Logistics function consist of fish stock, delivery Third, it has recognized the upcoming important problems by building up the new functions as middleman in Fisheries port Market. This study has used a questionnaire to verify 3 hypotheses. Research model, factor analysis, regression analysis. The result of this study are summarized as follows: The origin function influences positively on the effectiveness of middleman's performance in Fisheries port Market. Marketing function influences positively on the effectiveness of middleman's performance. However, logistics function did not directly influences on the effectiveness of middleman's performance.

  • Due to the impact of COVID-19 in 2020, online growth is increasing more rapidly, and the need for MFCs has become important to strengthen the Last Mile service, especially in Gangnam and Seocho, where population density is high. This study analyzed MFC operation case studies using Arc GIS (Geographic Information System), and in the case of Seoul, delivery to four MFC bases is not possible within 30 minutes, and for delivery within 30 minutes, it is necessary to secure MFC bases in areas with many consumers. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that two to three MFC operating bases are needed for each region based on Seoul Metropolitan Government and at least one base for each administrative district depending on the delivery service after ordering.

  • It is general that large ships entering or leaving a port located in the East coast of Korean peninsular are often exposed athwart to swell while maneuvering in the vicinity of breakwater at harbor enterance or to prevailing wind inside the port in winter. Particulary, Many VLCCs laden with ore coal are calling at Pohang Port, on account of which it is likely that one of those VLCCs block the port if they were to run aground in fairway due to adverse circumstance of swell, prevailing winds or improper shiphandling. This accident may result in delay of delivery of raw material for Pohang Steel Mill which will bring about shortcomings of steel products for nationwide relevant industries causing national economic shock. Therefore, This study basically aims at establishment of certain criteria for safe unberthing of VLCC in this port to prevent such unexpected disaster because any VLLC is highly affected by external forces when in ballast condition. Computer simulations are unavoidable to fulfull this study successfuly and many simulations have been carried out repeatedly to find a model of safe unberthing under various unfavourable wind conditions. The "PC-based ship maneuvering simulator for training purpose" was used to perform numerous simulations at the least economic burden and to verify its availability that it can be used not only for training but also some other purposes. purposes.

A Dispatching Method for Automated Guided Vehicles to Minimize Delays of Containership Operations

  • There is a worldwide trend to automate the handling operations in port container terminals in an effort to improve productivity and reduce labor cost. This study iscusses how to apply an AGV(automated guided vehicle) system to the handling of containers in the yard of a port container ter-minal. The main issue of this paper is how to assign tasks of container delivery to AGVs during ship operations in an automated port container terminal. A dual-cycle operation is assumed in which the loading and the discharging operation can be performed alternately. Mixed integer linear program-ming formulations are suggested for the dispatching problem. The completion time of all the dis-charging and loading operations by a quayside crane is minimized, and the minimization of the total travel time of AGVs is also considered as a secondary objective. A heuristic method using useful properties of the dispatching problem is suggested to reduce the computational time. The perfor-mance of the heuristic algorithm is evaluated in light of solution quality and computation time.

  • Cavitation phenomena during the spill process of the Bosch type fuel injection pump for medium-speed diesel engine were investigated by optical observations. Typically, these phenomena can cause a surface damage with material removal or round-off at the plunger and barrel port etc., and may shorten their expected life time. The images, which were recorded with high speed CCD camera and borescope, show that the plunger damage is mainly affected by fountain-like cavitation generated before the end of delivery. And the damages of barrel port and deflector are caused by jet-type cavitation generated after end of delivery.
