  • Initial attitude error is one of the large error sources in the navigation errors of SDINS. And it is important to decide the initial attitude of SDINS. The method, like a self-alignment or a transfer alignment method, is required to a precise INS. If we do not have a precise INS, we should get large attitude error. After performing the initial alignment, a vehicle has the initial attitude error. Therefore, it results in navigation error due to the initial attitude error. But, if we use position information during flight, we could estimate and compensate a vehicle attitude error. So, we can maintain a precise attitude in spite of existing the initial attitude error. Using the uplinked position information from a land-based radar system, the new algorithm estimates the attitude of the SDINS during flight ...

  • Uncertainties in the aerodynamic coefficients or time delay effects in implementing an autopilot algorithm can make a Flight Control System(FCS) unstable. When a FCS enters unstable state, the actuator or sensor limiters in FCS make the unstable system not diverge but be in the state of stable limit cycle. If an autopilot recognize the FCS to be in the stable limit cycle phenomenon, it woudl be better to adjust autopilot gains to stabilize the FCS. A novel method to stabilize a FCS using parameter estimation and maintenance of given phase margin is proposed. The method is applied to roll control loop and verified its performance.

  • Due to the recent rapid increase in passenger and cargo air transport demand, the capacity of Jeju International Airport has been approaching its limit. Even though in COVID-19 crisis which has started from Nov 2019, Jeju International Airport still suffers from strong demand in terms of air passenger and cargo transportation. However, it is an undeniable fact that the delay has also increased in Jeju International Airport. In this study, we analyze the correlation between weather and delayed departure operation based on both datum collected from the historical airline operation information and aviation weather statistics of Jeju International Airport. Adopting machine learning techniques, we then analyze weather condition Jeju International Airport and construct a delay prediction model. The model presented in this study is expected to play a useful role to predict aircraft departure delay and contribute to enhance aircraft operation efficiency and punctuality in the Jeju International Airport.

  • In this study, we propose a decentralized mathematical model for predictive control of a system of multi-autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones. Being decentralized and autonomous implies that all members make their own decisions and fly depending on the dynamic information received from other unmanned aircraft in the area. We consider a variety of realistic characteristics, including time delay and communication locality. For this flocking flight, we do not possess control for central data processing or control over each UAV, as each UAV runs its collision avoidance algorithm by itself. The main contribution of this work is a mathematical model for stable group flight even in adverse weather conditions (e.g., heavy wind, rain, etc.) by adding Gaussian noise. Two of our proposed variance control algorithms are presented in this work. One is based on a simple biological imitation from statistical physical modeling, which mimics animal group behavior; the other is an algorithm for cooperatively tracking an object, which aligns the velocities of neighboring agents corresponding to each other. We demonstrate the stability of the control algorithm and its applicability in autonomous multi-drone systems using numerical simulations.

  • In Strapdown Inertial Navigation System, alignment accuracy is the most important factor to determine the performance of navigation. However by an existing self-alignment method, it takes a long time to acquire the alignment accuracy that we want. So, to attain the desired alignment accuracy in as little as $\bigcirc$ minutes, we have developed the precise multi-position alignment method. In this paper, it is proposed a inertial measurement matching transfer alignment method among alignment methods to minimize the alignment error in a short time. It is based on a mixed velocity-DCM matching method be suitable to the operating environment of vertical launching system. The compensation methods to reduce misalign error, especially azimuth angle error incurred by measurement time-delay error and body flexure error are analyzed and evaluated with simulation. This simulation results are finally confirmed by experimentations using FMS(Flight Motion Simulator) in Lab and the integration test to follow the fire control mission.

  • A model helicopter is an unstable, multi-input multi-output nonlinear system exposed to strong disturbances and its system parameters change continually. In this paper, Time Delay Control(TDC) is adopted for these reasons. TDC uses past observation of the system's response and the control input to directly modify the control action rather than adjusting the controller gains leading to a model independent robust controller. TDC can force the plant to follow an appropriate reference model, but the reference model cannot be chosen arbitrarily. In this paper the procedure of choosing a reference model and the performance of the controller are presented.

  • This paper presents the design method of an FMCW(frequency-modulated continuous-wave) altitude simulator which generates propagation delay signals according to target distances to test the radar altimeter. To improve the conventional RF method for creating delay signals, the simulator is designed by the RF-optics-RF method using optical delay lines. In addition, it is designed to simulate the Doppler shift and jamming that may occur in actual flight environment. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed simulator, the integration tests have been conducted with the radar altimeter. Through the test, we successfully verified the performance of the simulator.

  • Whenever mobile node moves a new domain in multicast environments. Both handoff and join multicast group always occur. These procedures take a much of delay time and lost the packets in flight. Handoff delay is a significant factor fot the QoS of mobile node in mobile environments. In this paper. we propose a new handoff scheme which supports multicast and guarantees a low handoff delay in IPv6. The scheme makes adjacent subnets the member of multicast tree. After that, this eliminates packet loss and reduces the handoff delay time. Simulation shows that the proposed scheme takes a low delay and lower packet loss rate than the remote-subscription scheme.

  • An airport surface movement scheduler using first-come first-served (FCFS) algorithm is developed to efficiently manage surface traffic in an airport. It is based on the previously developed traffic flow management scheduler. Link directionality and intersection processing, which are additional constraints for ground movement, are added to the scheduler. To verify each of additional constraints, several simulations were performed by making simple scenarios, and the results show that all constraints were satisfied. Also, a simulation was performed by making a scenario based on flight operation information system (FOIS) data which is real departure and arrival flight data of Jeju airport. To determine the practicality of the developed scheduler, we compare the actual average delay time with the average delay time calculated by the scheduler.
